yea, this game is gone down the drain really fast in the past 2 months pretty much boring basically its HO or RAM and repeat and all you see is spit16's la7's p51's 190d9's that for some reason only know how to HO, then u got the idiots on your own team who see your shooting at a guy and pull in front of u.
really you guys destroyed this game. used to be fun but I'm thinking that IL2 has a better comunity now :rolleyes:
ex: i <S> a guy on 200 after a good fight after he shot me down i get "eat ya noob". when the dweeb was flying a spit16.
ex2: after a good 1v2 with some guys they call me a hacker because i out turned there spit16's when all u did was keep my speed and shot them in there turn by leading them.
ex3: yet another spit16 pilot told me i hacked because the spit16 is best no plane can outclimb it or out turn it :rolleyes:
all I'm saying is i give this game 6 month's till it goes where AW and FA went, and that's sad because its a good game yet the comunity sucks.

Also the Png is growing strong in this one , relax kid have fun or quit nobody is forcing you too play. Focusing only on the negative will result in bad times and useless stress for yourself . This goes for game and real life.

Go to on your ps3, or xcrap and play a different game for a couple of days come back after you have calmed down i do this alot of the times, really helps me out.

Ruined? :headscratch: Really? I guess we all have our point of views. Mine for the most part not much has changed in the years I have been playing as far as game play is concerned.

Go to on your ps3, or xcrap and play a different game for a couple of days come back after you have calmed down i do this alot of the times, really helps me out.
If you really want to aggravate yourself, go buy War in the Pacific Admirals Edition from Matrix Games, when the manual is over 400 pages - that speaks for itself. War on the Logistics, War on uncoordinated airstrikes, fact the game takes months if not years to finish. Aces High has nothing on the stress level this bloody game can cause, however once you learn the basics - it's quite fun, nothing like watching your plan execute after hours of prepping.
When I get aggravated on WITP, I fly Aces High for stress relief, nothing says fun like a C-205 at 15k zipping around the clouds :joystick:

You'll find better fights away from the horde, whether you're in it or fighting it. Inside the horde everyone is so hell bent on getting kills that they pay no attention to ACM.

Small fights are best. But they all turn into furballs, eventually.
5 on each side seems to be the magic number. Any less makes it boring, any more turns it into a horde.

I agree, once people start to ignore score, stop trying to land 500 k/d - and realize its a video game, then the fun might just start.
I miss flying already, I want to be head on into the horde with a trusty C.205, except my laptop won't even let me take off now :cry
People take it way to serious, most that scream "gameplay sucks" haven't stepped outside to enjoy life, when the horde starts and I don't feel up to flying, I grab a history book and start reading, why get stressed flying into 1vs10? Sometimes I would LOVE to do it, othertime's I need a break.
I once was a tard who flew off the handle, zomg PICK/HO/DWEEB/Bomb/VULCH - frankly I took Guppy's advice and chilled out and started enjoying the game, it helps that I have one of the most laid back squads in the game, the personalities and fun is what makes it worth my $15 every month.
So much that I can't even play, but I am about to pay a squadies account who cannot afford Aces High right now. He's a great guy, off to Canadian Police academy - hopefully doesn't turn into a Barney Fife.

TilDeath is building the PC possibly on Tuesday, hopefully by early next week I can have both my system and :joystick: Thrustmaster warthog :joystick:
I did find a deal on a Track IR v5 for $109 on amazon, gona wait a few weeks so I can get setup.
Think my first flight I am simply going to oogle over the game on high res, probably run into a horde and auger like a boss :cool:

I am looking to get a computer soon, Hopefully the first of Feb? but I highly doubt it... right now I play lowest settings possible, with a max frame rate usually of 30-ish, I see pixels 90% of the time rather than planes, if someone dives to the deck, I cannot see them they just blend in for some reason :bhead
Anyway, hope your new setup kicks oscar, 1st sortie back, you better land 10 kills! :ahand :D

The old "game is going downhill" mantra often seems to me more an indication of a personal change rather than any real change in the game.
Not to mention the desire for players to feel like they are part of the veteran crowd, some of who claim the game has gone downhill.

What I can't figure out, is what I'm doing wrong. I'm still having great fun and it's been 10 years + now not including the Airwarrior time going back to 95-96.
Does every night go the way I want it to? Nah. But it's still the best fun a cartoon fighter pilot can find.
If you are taking that serious, then it's time for a break. Nothing, I repeat, Nothing in AH is worth getting worked up about.

Just off something Olds said, I was accused of being the L33T haxxor by someone who I killed in a 4 or 5 v me. At first, I was mad for this guy trying to take something away from me, then I thought about it. It really was a compliment. I finally joined the ranks of those accused of hacking. My game play has finally reached a level where I am not just an average pilot. The guy meant it as an insult but I think it more a compliment.

Your definition of downhill is a tab different then some of us, because player A) doesn't fly 200mph and straight as an arrow, means the game is going downhill?
Ok so you don't want me to fly 200mph and straight as an arrow, perhaps try offline arena, those guys circle airfields for hours?
Live players won't play the way YOU want them to play, they go by "trends" - Some Vulch, Some Bomb, some Boom and Zoom the list is endless.
Maybe you think it went downhill, I believe Aces High is thriving - considering it hasn't "gone away like AW" and I've been around since 2001.
Do you think World of Warcraft is going to disappear any time soon? NOPE - not when they are making over 140million annually.
They could keep pumping out expansions for the next 20 years and they STILL would have over 10 million (yes actually) subscribers.
Perhaps online gaming isn't your cup of tea.

Sometimes, you have to do your job as a player and FIND the fun (not very hard at all).
Just yesterday, we Knights managed to CAP and deack a field, when all of a sudden, 15+ wirbles came running out and sat on the runway. Me being me:D, i took the opportunity to run through all of them in a 109.
Lemme tell you, nothing was more fun than flying through 15+ wirbles on the deck at 450mph. Especially watching other players try it and exploding to bits all around you. Redbull even dared me to fly through the BH, which i failed on the first try but did so on the 2nd and 3rd. I think I managed to go through all the ack 9 or 10 times before having to rtb.
You can't find that fun anywhere else and trust me when I say, this game is alive and well :aok

2. The game sucks because a Spit XVI needs to be perked and is too uber. Real meaning: I keep getting shot down in a Spit XVI by D3As and it can't be.
3. The game sucks because (insert whine). Real meaning: I have yet to hook up with the right squad or folks and learn ACM and the inner workings of the game, including the scoring system.
IMHO the only thing in the game that sucks are the guys who have been on for years and still have not progressed passed HO, turn, HO, turn, HO, turn.

Sooner you ignore it and learn to fly smarter, i.e avoid the Ho, avoid 200 - avoid whining, then the fun might start.

I had someone complain I wouldn't remain in the knife fight with his F4F and extended and went vertical. Don't expect the other guy to 'fight your fight', if the other guy has any common sense, you are going to be disappointed every time.
As for the HOing, use it as a filter to judge talent on the merge. If he does HO, and it isn't because you pulled an early lead turn, chances are he isn't going to be much of a challenge.

Last thing to do is disable notification on this topic. Maybe time to use that ignore function for the first time.

It's not that the game is ruined as it's not! It's the new clientel that is ruined! Nuff said...

Actually Guppy I think it was around late 95 as I remember ya from then although at my old age my mind does drift from time to time. You and a lot of others know that fun is what you make, it just landing a kill is not the only fun that is available here. Us old farts have had all the instant gratification in other areas long before this type of game was created. It is what it is and I state again for the record that it's not the game but the adjustable nut behind the keyboard that is either ruining the experience or denying a person's viewpoint on having fun.

I haven't flown in several months.I quit because the game didn't offer me enough motivation to fly anymore.I been flying since early Air Warrior,and I have seen them come and go since day one.I believe Aces High is a good flight sim.It has many redeeming features.The HO'S and collisions are always being complained about.Some of the guys behind them "puter" screens are some of the most half witted people you could find on the planet.That being said,some of the nicest people are also flying Aces High.If they fixed the collisions and HO's,I might come back.Air Warrior had the HO's and collisions right!That Hitech won't budge on either issue,shows that his saying the idea of the game is to pizz the other guy off,is ringing true,as the pizzing and moaning continues on!If enough people get aggravated,maybe Aces High will go the way of Air Warrior,and that would be sad,because of not giving the majority what they want.

I am looking to get a computer soon, Hopefully the first of Feb? but I highly doubt it... right now I play lowest settings possible, with a max frame rate usually of 30-ish, I see pixels 90% of the time rather than planes, if someone dives to the deck, I cannot see them they just blend in for some reason :bhead

yea, this game is gone down the drain really fast in the past 2 months pretty much boring basically its HO or RAM and repeat and all you see is spit16's la7's p51's 190d9's that for some reason only know how to HO, then u got the idiots on your own team who see your shooting at a guy and pull in front of u.
really you guys destroyed this game. used to be fun but I'm thinking that IL2 has a better comunity now :rolleyes:
ex: i <S> a guy on 200 after a good fight after he shot me down i get "eat ya noob". when the dweeb was flying a spit16.
ex2: after a good 1v2 with some guys they call me a hacker because i out turned there spit16's when all u did was keep my speed and shot them in there turn by leading them.
ex3: yet another spit16 pilot told me i hacked because the spit16 is best no plane can outclimb it or out turn it :rolleyes:
all I'm saying is i give this game 6 month's till it goes where AW and FA went, and that's sad because its a good game yet the comunity sucks.
It's not the game, it's 200, de-tune it. No more problem.

While I think the OP is over reacting a bit I believe that there are issues with game play. Yes we have always had HOin, and hordes, back then they called them MOMs or "Multi Squad Ops". The would "advertize" them all week and put them together on the weekends.
The problem is that this isn't just happening now and then any more, it's becoming the norm. Old days only rookies went for the HO, now almost everyone does. Like The NOEs they are becoming the norm. I can post another Bish mission picture with 20-30 guys running NOE with 4 of us upping to try and stop them, and you know how that went :rolleyes: Sure I got 6-7 kills to my 3 deaths big deal, I didn't fight anyone, just kept blasting through firing my guns until I lost a wing and would reup.
Ever notice how the number of NOEs increase when the is an "island" type map up? I think if they got rid of the maps with water half the Bish would cancel their subscriptions. No water means they need skill to fly NOE over the ground, and they haven't any.
Yes you can still find fights, or any type of play you want in the arenas, but you have to work at it these days. And from the looks of things it's only going to get worst. The one plus I see is when WoP comes out a lot of the "kiddies" will go there and play for free. Maybe then the arenas will get back to "battling" instead of just trying to roll bases.

Yestarday, I flew about 5 missions.
We made a lot's of kills (planes, hangars, ...) but we did not take ANYTHING :O
Our goal was to capture fields but we don't reached it.
Normally we take fields with less kills and hangars destructions.
It was fun the same.

Did you spill some coffee on it or something? Did you tear up your receipt and try and return it? Do you drive a van without windows? Do you know the quickest route away from the nearest elementary school? Have you registered your complaint in the archive system and taken your number? If so, what is your number? Do you even care what anyone really thinks of you in here outside of what font their text is in? Can you spell words correctly and in complete sentences?

Most of the guys in my squad are old timers, with many of us going back to Airwarrior. Everyone goes through the ebb and flow of flying. Some times folks forget why they play and need a break. And if it's no longer fun, playing makes no sense. At the same time as an old timer, i can tell you I'm still having fun. In the end I think it's the friends I've made and the interests we share via the game that keep me going.
That's the beauty of something like Aces High. The game itself isn't the secret so much as what it allows us to do within the game along with the friends we've made. if it was only the game, I'd still be playing Aces over Europe.

One reason why I was quite happy to join the 367th Squad, most are old timers that flew in AW, most are up in age, which doesn't mean they are mature in any shape or form, hell Hooter is a kid in a candy store when someone ups a tank in front of him.
Sometimes people get frustrated, I was one that spewed every 4 letter word in the book, but honestly I just like the challange now. Flying something above 25 Eny, means I pretty much can't expect to win, and I will likely lose more fights then I win. So there is nothing to be frustrated about, frankly I was more frustrated with this crappy Logitech 3D then 30 lemmings trying to gang me every day.
I swear first thing I am gona do when the Thrustmaster Warthog comes in, I am going to up a C.205, climb to 15k - find a horde and auger like a boss.
Cause thats just how I roll.

The game never changes. People continuously post every month about how the game is going down the crapper. It is the same as it always was. Take a break (like I am dong right now) and come back. I just got wore out but I know that eventually I will come back and play and guess what. The game will be the exact same as when I left except with new and better aspects.

This game is indeed ruined, flew for first time in the Main arena last night, shot down 4 and two in a couple of good furballs.
I didn't see anywhere on the map that was hording, it was quite a nice furball till my PC rebooted :\

I do like how some folks think Hitech put years into this game for nothing. Years of blood sweat and tears. Only to kill it in some stupid manner.
This is his livelyhood. Not only his but all the employees concerned. From our experience with his game it is obvious he does not move on a whim. He looks at possible changes long and hard to denote the good and bad points. If any changes are made he does not just move on to the next. He still keeps a watchful eye on "made changes" to see if they need adjusting or complete removal.
While I may not agree with all changes, I know he hasn't just thrown the change in without lots of forethought.

I just flew a few sorties in the last 2 days after being out of the game for a month, unable to play period. I gotta tell you, Its the same La7s and Spit16s, except I really have nothing to whine about, I'd rather get shot down and at least fly Aces High then not fly at all.
I highly suggest thinking before you quit, I couldn't hit the side of a barn if I rammed it today, and I was spraying at 200 out!!!!!
ACM wise, I didn't forget much, Aim wise - yeah planets laugh at me because I would miss that close too.

Not quitting, just taking a break. Couple of days, week at the most. And yes, I know that the gameplay has been the same. Just that I've been running into these types of "gameplay" multiple times in a row and never even having a chance of *one* decent fight. :cry

This thread is freakin' hilarious... I just logged into the forum after about 5 years away from the game and am reading the SAME EXACT COMPLAINTS that arose years ago. I played Aces High from 2001 - 2006, and stepped away from it for several reasons. I have to say that one of the reasons was the HO-fever and the general trend toward specific "easy-button" rides. Here are my thoughts now that I have the wisdom of time away under my belt:
- You're NEVER going to change the general trend to want to shoot things in the face (people like 1st person shooter games for the same reason)
- You're NEVER going to change peoples' desire to choose the best weapon for the job (why take a .22 when a 30-06 is bound to do more damage!)
- The best medicine is to work on improving your own skills/tactics/techniques to combat those issues
The bane of my existence when I played was the N1K2. Hated that airplane. So, I decided to fly it a bit and see what all the hype was about. After learning how it operated, and that everyone's success in it couldn't possible be 'cheating,' I went back to my favorite plane (FW190-A8, yeah I'm a glutton for punishment) and used it's BnZ strengths against the Nikky. No longer did I go down in flames with nary a kill. I would repeatedly land 3 - 8 kill sorties, some even higher. It takes planning and patience, but the reward is worth it.
Take your time, learn the strengths of the planes you like, and learn to combat the specific threats you despise. There's no silver bullet in Aces High!
