The current system of chess-piece switching matters very little to me. I do like the ability to switch chess pieces to stop ridiculously lopsided gameplay, but that is really my only dog in this fight.
We've got the thread that has the emotion on the subject.....now, take the emotion out of the argument and simply state your reason(s) for, or against, truncating the timeframe in which a player may switch chess pieces. No fixes, just "why" or "why not".
For:
-Allows players the option to keep sides numerically stable in a more timely manner
-Can help prevent epic hoarding (which, if memory serves, base hoarding has always been an issue but the reinstatement of the 12 hour rule actually caused wine threads to increase...you'd have to ask Lusche but I believe there is some statistical relevance to that....if it's true.)
-
There is a sub-set of players who prefer to switch to the side with fewer players.
I believe that their willingness to switch to balance the sides should be encouraged, even at the risk that there is another sub-set of players who will abuse the system to cheat.
I would support a switch timer of 1 to 2 hours.
-
I think 2 hour would be ideal.
-
I think 2 hour would be ideal.
What are your reasons for making the change?
-
There are many options how to make it better.
First of all, what was the main goal in it?
Im sure there is an other resolve of this problem what dont hurt us, low-numbers-siders, but can effectively stop the "they are about to win the war, switch quickly" ones. Then everyone becames happy <dancin banana>
For example, would cost you some perks to switch to the higher numbers side, combined with a 2 hours absolute limit (you cant even switch for perks).
Whats wrong with the version i sketched above? Anyone has problems with it? Then why isnt it the standard MA rule?
After all, we are paying for this, damn it.
-
Since we rotate chess piece every few months anyhow, we have no loyalty and enjoy flying with lots of other toon pilots.
I used to be able to switch sides to wing up with Shawk or Boxboy or even Betty (and their squads) for an hour or so then switch back when other squadies would show up. Can't do that now.
-
One hour.
-
I can't think of any pros for limiting a paying customer's ability to find fun/action
It doesn't really affect me atm as I never really need to change sides, but I have a feeling I will want to when I move to NZ, and all my squaddies are asleep during my prime time!
-
Personally I'd like to see the time between switches reduced substantially. There are two reasons for this, the first is that I really don't care one bit about the "war" or who wins the map. I like to log in, fly or drive around and shoot cartoon bullets at cartoon opponents. I do from time to time chip in and help a capture attempt if there is combat involved, but I'm also perfectly content to switch sides and take that field back for the other side afterwards. In short, my interest in the whole map is nil. I'd just like to be able to log in and find someone to shoot at which can sometimes mean switching sides.
The other reason is that I like to fly with different groups on occasion as I have friends on all three countries and it's just as much fun to fly with them as it is to fly against them.
I believe those that would exploit a short switch timer for ill gotten gains are relatively few in number, that most players who are in favor of a shorter time are similar to myself and just want to be able to quickly find someone to fight. It is unfortunate that I also believe that the damage done to the game and community by that group of scheming miscreants exceeds their relatively small number.
I have no way of knowing if what I want is good for the community at large, so in that regard I freely admit that MY experience would improve by fewer restrictions.

I'd vote for no limit. If I want to wing with a friend in one side and then switch again to fight him on the next sortie, why should I have to wait? I see no reason for the limitation and my action does not hurt anyone's game play.
If there is a problem that could be caused by people using the ability to switch, then HT should identify what it is and punish "them" instead of the ones that do not cause any problems.

Just devil's advocating here a bit, suppose you're on one country and see a carrier group horde from your side rolling a barely defended base. You switch to the defending side because it looks like a fun fight to have from that side. Reasonable? It's one reason I'd switch.
What if just before you switched, you happened to see a knot of C47s flying by the CV on their way to the base, headed toward the base being attacked from the south? Are you justified in upping from that base and heading south to intercept them? Are you morally obligated NOT to head south because of your prior knowledge of what is coming? Should you engage in that fight at all knowing what you know?
How on earth do you enforce rulings on whether people used knowledge from their previous country, compared to fortuitous circumstances?
Here's an example: Last night I was headed to a base to defend it from a horde that had been at it for a while. I figured I would go goon hunting, half expecting to be too late, but figured 'why not?' On my way there, I got engaged with another P47 and wound up having a duel with him which I won by a slim margin. Down 3 guns, I actually started to turn back and realized I still had enough control surfaces to take out a goon if need be.
I made it to the town, and through miraculous fluke got there just in time to intersect the goon's flight path just as he began to drop. Due to my awesome gunnery skills, he survived my first pass just as he was dropping, and I turned back and managed to shoot down a few troops in their chutes and kill the goon.
With that situation, what if I had just switched over from that side and run that sortie? How would someone watching that from the server be able to distinguish that from a guy who had seen the goon take off from the tower and was headed there to intercept it?

A thread that separates the for and against the 12 hour switch so the people that visit the forum can see the reasons why both sides want what they want. Included in such might be reasons to make a change or change nothing. That would be up to the people that run this place.
Seems to me thats more than your tiny, baby-hand, fist shake at other peoples opinion. Again, you managed to add zippo to the discussion. You might want to send in one of your smarter minions to do the heavier mental lifting for you. Just saying....friends?

Well, I can do that right now can't I? It is a question of how often. The only way to defend against this is by never switching and no coms between countries. HT would have to block ventrilo and all other com software. In the end, nothing would work since a spy would have a second account anyway. So, you can protect against accidental things like you mentioned but against the intentional. And again, if that is behavior HT does not want, find the offenders and punish them. I know it is easier to place a restriction but . . . .

Trying to legislate morality is stupid and futile.
Edit: That's the best reason for no oppresively long waiting times. It so good no other reasons are needed.

I would be on the against 12 hr ...basically due to lack of enticement for me sometimes...I was never a big side switcher but when things are quiet on my main side and the green dar out ways the the red ( inadvertantly the chess piece I was given my very first day)I do like to change... since the change I think I have changed once to fight the higher numbers but I wasn't planning on meeting up with any of the others I fly with later....Which is another reason I am against the 12 hour...if we do change usless we (guys I fly with) change at the same time the large amount of time between the changes is difficult to sync up with others...if you only do a few hours per day that is...
it all goes round and round and some weeks there is absolutely no reason to change as there are big red dars on both fronts and I can keep myself occupied for hours...but as of the past week I pretty much run a couple of sorties and log .... I consider changing but then think ...meh....
but this is usually in a very quiet game time so it is a problem that is more pronounced due to lower numbers and limited gameplay...especially on the bigger maps
-
Well, I can do that right now can't I? It is a question of how often.
Yep. And they've chosen to draw their line in the sand at 12 hours. I disagree with it, 2 would seem to me sufficient because the leadup to most missions and the mission itself rarely lasts beyond that, and the ones that are longer are usually looking for opposition anyways.
The only way to defend against this is by never switching and no coms between countries. HT would have to block ventrilo and all other com software.
Not to mention phones, second PCs in the house, morse code, etc etc. Point being, it's impossible to stop a dedicated cheater.
In the end, nothing would work since a spy would have a second account anyway. So, you can protect against accidental things like you mentioned but against the intentional. And again, if that is behavior HT does not want, find the offenders and punish them. I know it is easier to place a restriction but . . . .
It is not 'easier', it is about the only practical option if you're going to attempt to put some kind of control on it.
A time limit doesn't stop the truly dedicated cheater, but it does put a cramp on the 'casual cheater' who can only do it once every 12 hours under the current system. This is of course assuming he is friendless and doesn't have the cash for account #2.
I see Sunbat is still a freaking genius as well.

I might have $45 to burn per month, I could have JUGgler, JUGgler1 and JUGgler2. Cover all 3 countries, would this be ok? I bet HiTech wouldn't mind :aok
Making opressive rules out of fear that someone will use their freedom to be a sweetheart is silly and unrealistic.
1-2 hour switch time standard, then charge 200 perks to switch at will. seems easy to me. Who will pay 200 perks just to kill a few goons they see from the tower of a CV?

pros/cons of changing time limit. Idea of spies is dumb not even gonna discuss it as all you have to do is tell your buddy about it without switching.
pro: some people will switch to balance the game. if one country has lower players.
pro: if enough switch i can fly my ponyd all the time.
cons: people will not necessarily switch to balance the game, but will switch to find "fights" according to their own idea of the game. so they may not switch to the
country with lower number. they may actually switch to the one with higher number if they believe it's a "better" fight.
cons: even more people will switch to roll from horde to horde than to balance the game or find a "fight" as it happened before.
cons: when we had a 1 hr time limit countries were not balanced. actually they had a bigger imbalance more often than right now.
cons: It is annoying as hell for me to be helping some player only to see him switch countries come back and kill me as I rtb damaged and low fuel/ammo.
while some of you guys do switch to balance the game not enough switch to balance the game. more switch to find their kind of "fight" but even more will swith to flying from horde to horde.

For the vast majority of the 2 short years I've been here, switch time was 2(? or 3?) hours. It's my perception that imbalances have gotten worse since they went to 12 hours, particularly lately. Confirmation bias? Slight chance, although that's something I think about a lot so I would like to think not.

It's quite simple for me, these days I don't play as much, I haven't the luxury to just pop in each night for a hour or 2. When I play these days I have usualy finished some project or set asside some time specifically for AH, sometimes a couple hours sometimes (if I've sufficiently scared off the wife and daughters) 3 to maybe even 6 hours. Within 3-6 hours the "horde flux" can be drastic and it can get quite boring after a short while, which makes me think of doing other projects that need doing like painting, sheetrock etc etc, and that is just not cool when the girls are gone! :D
It just came to mind instead of a timed country switch, how about a # of switches per day, say 2-3 and no more. Once you've used your limit you must wait 24 hours?

I think 1 or 2 hours is reasonable.

So the question becomes do you believe that there are that many players, so pathetic and desperate to win a cartoon game that stopping them with the 12 hour rule is important? Or do you believe that there are more players that switch for the sake of the fight and 12 hours just prevents that?
I'm in the latter category

Myself? No. I personally think the amount of paranoia about side switchers gaining advantage is orders of magnitude higher than the actual instances of side switching to gain advantage. I also believe some measure needs to be in place to placate the paranoid people, because they pay their $15, they demand some kind of security against the big bad side switchers.
I personally would like 1 hour between switches, but I believe a practical compromise is 2 to give the alleged 'cheaters' less frequency where they can do whatever they're supposedly doing.
Although, reading this thread another thought occurs to me. What if HTC's main reason for limiting side switching has little to do with cheating, and is actually for some other reason? I can't think of a logical reason offhand though.

If there are so many pathetic players who will play so lamely, how does the switch time affect them? I think if they are cheaters at heart, they will just cheat and they will always find a way to cheat. No sense in limiting the "majority" who do not cheat! Kind of like cutting off the nose to spite the face, silly and painfull

Fact is most of you who complain about the horde and this 12 hour time switch are mainly guys trying to fly with the hordes.
For instance last night Knights out# both countries by 60-70 players, where were these few that talk of fighting hordes ? Just so happens they were in it ! :aok

I disagree based on what I saw between generally 6PM to midnight mountain time. Switching to get kills generally means going to the low side though. Instead of fighting 5 other guys for a single con, you've got a world of targets.

I have to agree with semp here, the issue is much later at night, when there are less than 100 players on line. Then the impact of the lack of side switching becomes amplified. Often, I have seen it where one country has 50% less than the other 2 countries, and the 4 hours earlier, that country was the country with the numbers.

That was true for me. I switched to Knights the night before despite them outnumbering the other countries. Had to go Knights to fly with squadlings who weren't able to switch. I'd rather fly on the high numbers team with friends, than alone on the low numbers team. So for us, the 12 hour rule keep our entire squad on the high number side, and caused at least myself to have to switch to the high numbers side. That's not something that would have happened back with the one hour rule, as we made a point to try to fly the low numbers as much as we could.

Hey thanks, while it grieves me to add to such a perfectly all-inclusive statement which is profound in the very fact that it so saliently conveys the essence of the problem in sublime brevity, I feel that an addendum is crucially important...

Pretty much exactly what I would have said considering we are both on around the same time of day. 12 hour side switch really hurts off hours people because if there is nothing but a bish/nit fight when I log on I don't want to join in for fear of missing out on flying with my rook squaddies when they log in.
-
An unofficial check of numbers at random times over the last few days surprised me. I found the sides to be within 10 to 15 % of each other. I fly as a member of the 113th Lucky Strikes which has always flown as Knights that’s 10 + years as Knights. We never change sides and I have had a situation where I could not find someone to engage in a dog fight with, never. Perhaps the 12 hours rule is working fine, just as is. Perhaps it has accomplished what HiTech set out to do. I remember when switching was limited to a week or was that two weeks at a time.

That doesn't mean 2-dozen players still don't try to every night. :aok
How would that even work? Been here 11 years and have yet to see or hear of the mission busting Lancs ruining someone's day.
-
What I think would be an interesting social experiment would be change what happens when the map is reset, or the "war" in won.
Assuming the following values for each country
Bishops = 1
Knights = 2
Rooks = 3
When everyone logged in after a reset whatever country they were on prior to winning would get a +1. Bishops would become Knights, Knights become Rooks, etc. The rosters wouldn't get mixed but the country affiliation would get rotated.
-
You're forgetting the "griefers". Those that have nothing better to do than run around trying with intent to ruin the game for everyone else. Find and enemy CV and sink it, find the missions and disrupt them, and just generally be a PITA for no other reason than they can. These are the same A-holes that show up in multi player shooters and kill team mates.
-
You really believe that? I wish someone would film such an incident where someone switched sides to do that. Never seen it in all my years. I must be doing something wrong!
I do. And you believe it's so unattractive and no new player would dare attempt to do it, because? Or that such players regularly record such illfated and conceived sorties?
Some of the only missions to ever grace this BBS are the ones that get proked on a runway, I certainly find less posts about normal and successful ones.
we havent seen a guy that is in a country that has no fights either.
semp
Now THAT is rediculous, sure we have, anyone can visit the EW or MW arena late at night when there are less than 5 people in it and see for themselves that guys play with themselves in there all the time. :noid
Let me guess. You are a politician or in law enforcement, right?
Nope, just older and wise(arse)-r.
What about the spies?....the spies......... :bhead
Honestly, people could find out nmy cv's ect pretty easily. A shorter time limit should offset people who hide CV's. 1 hour ok.
Yeah maaan, those spiez are horriblez, it's like, the CVs might as well spawn exclusively at these places on the map marked with a unique icon and their own unique alpha-numeric identifier, travel about as fast as a cruise ship, and respawn like clockwork and on a tight schedule after sinking the old one.... o wait...
I learned last night that semp only engages in "fights he expects to win". Must explain why he was avoiding the low ridin K4 in all even numbered situations. :P
A LOW K$$$$$, where!?!?1 :x
How would that even work? Been here 11 years and have yet to see or hear of the mission busting Lancs ruining someone's day.
Here, I'll take the easy route, and let you neigh sayers who can't be wrong dig your own hole: So you're saying a Lancaster can't pork a mission on the runway? Explain?
I've seen a player in a CV-destroying mission switch sides, up off that CV, and make the field in time in his F6F to have a field day. It was hilariously shameful for us, and I imagine a hoot for him. Heck, if I recall correctly some lucky stuka or d3a driver got almost a dozen pigs on the runway a few months ago, and effectively knocked them out of the fight for over 15 minutes because they couldn't stop laughing or slapping that lucky player on the back over squad VOX.
I have seen Lancasters pork missions on the runways, both friendly and enemy, and on more than a handful of occasions in just two years. The stats page will back me up if the porked mission whine posts in this forum won't - instances exist of lancasters flown by players decamating a large fraction of players exlusively in one squad just once that tour, and all in the same plane. Coincidences, possible. All of them?... pass that bottle.
This thread is full of win today. :rofl

I never challenged you to the DA. I simply said I will fight you anytime, any aircraft, any alt, any E state, after you ran like a little girl from a 1v1 and then came back looking for picks once I engaged others who had the testicular fortitude to fight. That was right before you challenged me to duel goons in the DA, which I obviously dismissed as kook talk. :airplane: :salute

This is borderline gibberish Capt. Condescension. How does a friendly Lanc take out teamates exactly? And while I don't find it surprising a lone Stuka could take out a dozen of you, why was he on your squad vox? Anyways, you orignal post suggests players notice your mission, switch sides, and then catch you on the runway and bomb you. I'm not so sure other players are the problem if you're getting owned by Lancs and Stukas but then again I'm just a "niegh sayer".

sure grizz a pony heavy with fuel and low and slow can outturn a 109. you didnt fight anybody there and nobody fought you. you caught them barely off the runway low and slow with your 109 and pick them. then come here whining cause I didnt give you another easy kill. then when you knew you had lost the advantage you went for the ho ran then augered. you may have lots of skill but you still resort to pick like the rest of us :neener:.

Bone,
The Piggy herd has a rule about taking bases. We take off and climb to the base making as much DAR as possible on the way to the base. Wasystin has a new religion I wish he'd stop chanting on VOX the whole way to the target.
"PleaseUpNFight"...."PleaseUpNFight"...."PleaseUpNFight"....
Lately we aint been getting many takers on the fight bit by the time we have hauled all those bombs to the target and all that DAR and stuff we generated to let everyone know we were coming. No wonder Pandora just asks 3 squads to flatten a bunch of bases and roll'em. But, no NOE about it with that Lady. She makes sure DAR tells em we are coming to break their toys. Kinda makes NOE a moot issue.

Before BabyBone had a tantrum because he wanted all the attention, we were 'debating'/'Joking' with semp and the likes about 12 hour time change. So, back to that...
Semp,
Can you post a video of people suddenly changing sides to get 'perk points' from a potential war win?
What about charging perks to join the most numbered side?
Would that quell the concerns?

Semp,
Can you post a video of people suddenly changing sides to get 'perk points' from a potential war win?
I'm pretty darn sure this happens. I remember a few occaisions in my early Rolling Thunder days, when we were a base rolling squad, when the war would be nearly won and the Bishop numbers would spike up enormously. Almost always had to take the last base or two with 190A8s because ENY would kick in so hard right at the end. Heck, I thought you would get the perks if you did that for quite awhile. I never switched because RT used to only fly Bishop. I believe that there are still quite a few newer guys who don't know about the 12 hour rule.

I think it would be a good idea if when the system announces the war win, if you switched sides too late to get perks, it sent a message along the lines of:
SYSTEM: Country has won the war. Map will change in 5 minutes.
You did not get win the war perks because you only switched sides x hours ago, and need to have been on the winning side for y hours.
Wiley.
-
Are people really that worried about perk points? What a sad comment on their silly little lives if so :)

what if the perk cost of witching to the winning side increased as the winning side got closer to wining, up to the point where the cost was the same as the gain from the war win.
-

Unless I'm missing something. Fairly regularly it seems to me if a win can be seen from a little ways off, the winning side seems to balloon in numbers.
what if the perk cost of witching to the winning side increased as the winning side got closer to wining, up to the point where the cost was the same as the gain from the war win.
All I'm saying is, that's already how it works now. If you qualify, it comes up with 'You've been awarded perks.' If you don't, you don't get that message, or perks. I'm just saying it would be nice to add this message so they would know that their switch didn't get them win the war perks, and might stop the switching when one country gets on a roll.
Wiley.
-
I think people did/do swap for that reason (war win perks) but I do believe you needed to be on the winning side for a minimum of 12 hrs to receive perks.
In my opinion this 12 hour switch rule doesn't stop spies/hordes/etc etc...I feel it actually endorses them and you are finding more and more guys that used to be found in other areas of game play joining the band wagon and getting sucked into it .... often you would find the muppets and few other squads and a lot of individuals would all converge on the low number/out numbered side (sometimes you may have more numbers but two fronts are full on attack causing less due to having to split between forces) ... now I find that I don't fly with the same guys as often as I did and find them loitering around with the group because they don't want to change and can't find another place to fight .... it seems gone are the days that you can fly to a base by yourself and have 1-2 uppers to have a fight with who are likeminded and there for a good dance (it happens but with way less frequency) now you will get 1-2 then all of a sudden 5-6-7 all biting and scratching to get that scalp...also if you do (like me) up from such a base thinking this con is here to get away from the (what I consider) sad play 8 times out of 10 they don't want an even match up...all they want is an easy kill or two and never let you get even alt or E .... Now before you go on about that's what the DA I say Meh .... I learn't due to this style of play....every body seems so focused and starved of kills and notoriety that they will do anything to get it
Don't get me wrong...there are still those guys out there that are for the fight and the team..let's not leave that out ... but they are becoming far and few between and it is a little sad .... new gamer style... gratification because we want and need it ...not deserve it...
Well that's my little bleat....hope it can be deciphered and understood for what it is.... I know those that can make sense of it know what I am saying :D

-
Semp,
Can you post a video of people suddenly changing sides to get 'perk points' from a potential war win?
What about charging perks to join the most numbered side?
Well afew months back on Midano, hate that map. I witnessed some Vguys changing sides one asking on range if he would get perks for the win. So yes Ardy, it happens.
I wouldn't care if they charged perks to pile on the winz war team. But you already have to be on the winz war team for over an hour. To get said perks, to the dismay of the Vturkey.
We play a game/cartoon simulation so someone will always find a way to game it. Whether it's changing sides to change course of carriers, or seeing a mission, changing, and then upping a 262 from an adjacent field to intercept it. I would like to see the change rule come down to a fair amount of time like 3-4 hrs. thank you.
And to that SEMP, guy.Stop trying to steal my killz turd. :devil
-
ok what about the various proposed suggestions, charging perks for changing to the high numbers side, etc...
...Why perks? All that does is allow the more skilled to switch at will and leave the vast majority out in the cold.
My opinion on it is simple. 2 hour switch limit, that's a reasonable compromise between ability to fly with squaddies/find the fight you want and paranoia about spies. It doesn't need to be any more complex than that.
Wiley.

You might think so, but the steamrolling often goes on for quite some time. It's only when the war is nearly one that you see ENY go way out of whack. At least, that's how it used to be. I haven't noticed it happening in the recent past.

see what I mean. I was talking to ink and you posted. pretty much standard muppet ops.

B-Listers.. lol

Honestly, I have a lot more respect for folks who worry about perk points than I do for thin-skinned uber pilot wannabes constantly feeling like someone is besmirching their reputations.
And remarkably, I'm not talking about the Muppets here.
Are you suggesting...gasp!... that this isn't really important? :huh

nothing personal semp, I love the Muppets/B-Listers.
thats why you wanted in as much?
Too bad you couldnt even make it to the Z-list. You were voted out by the "true muppets", yes, the same ones youre trying to lick.
This is your fate BabyBone, being spineless, trying to lick someones you want something from, then trying to offend the same ones after they refuse you.
Now i see who are you really. Feeling sorry for those you could blind with your hypocricy.
Btw. yea im a proud Z-lister and im perfectly happy with it.

Talking about someone mom's isn't judging someone. But, talking smack on a guy that isn't here to defend himself makes you a coward by thinking that his comment makes him seem knowledgeable about a situation that he knows nothing about...Passive aggressive maybe...but certainly a cowardly little sort. I would venture to say you haven't had a lot of courageous actions in your young life, with the exception of clearing someone's 6 in-game or dropping off supplies for someone, lol.

Its funny you say this.
I could have been a Muppet back when I first started fighting with Grizz in the DA dont believe me ask him he offered it.
Love ya Grizzy poo! :P
Yes that means I would have been a muppet before Debrody,Changeup,Juggler.
Another funny thing is the fact AoM has lost alot of talent dont see the old respectful muppets much anymore, It was ppl like you that made me not wanna join the Muppets which is why you Gents get the reaction from me.
So Dont be so quick to talk smack about things you dont know.
EDIT: Violater was flying around last night same Violater from AoM?

The 12 hour rule basically keeps the side switching to once per night. Is that REALLY so bad? If you want to fight the horde so bad, just pick the side with the fewest numbers when you log on. PM your squaddies and get them all to go with you to even things out if you want.

No Time Limit.
Who are we to say how the game should be played? We all pay money to have access to the servers and log on, what constitutes as fun to one does not mean the same to another.
The whole idea of this game is to promote combat, if I had prior knowledge of an attack that I WOULD LOVE to intercept then I think my $15 has earned me the right to have my own fun. Now you can argue is it fair to the attacker? Of course it is...he has unlimited lives and I think we can all agree that if they wanted a milk run they can go offline...
Why no time limit? Why not 1 hour? 2? 3? Because when I switch sides (i do a lot) on average I stay for a couple of hours without thinking of switching to another side. So even without a time limit you will not see people switching sides every 5 minutes... I would be willing to bet that the amount of switching would only slightly increase if no time limit was put in place...
I think the strongest argument is that this is not a box game like CoD or Battlefield...we do NOT pay for a "what you see, is what you get" game... we pay for the development of a company who's market is not exactly massive... Computer, WWII, Air Combat, Simulation...
This game evolves with its' players, it has to evolve with the type of game play that is manageable by the players... in this day in age of everything has to be done now...many of us work full time, and a lot of us go to school as well... time is not really in abundance with some of us and for me, a paying customer, to have to wait to have fun with a game that I pay my hard earned money for is NOT ACCEPTABLE...
my 2 cents

Its funny you say this.
...stuff...
I remember Spek begging for me to help him getting in, for me, the newb.
I also remember you becaming über arrogant with me right after you got refused. oopps.
Also i see you being pretty upset and trolly since that ominose DFC case... ouch.
I joined this squadron couse theese people earned all of my respect with their flying. Im only a 18 months newb tho... a noone.
Still there are some things i can see cristal-clearly. For example, who are you. A turncoat.

I need not go into it here, My ego may be too much for some right?

Log on and let's discuss.

There is a sub-set of players who prefer to switch to the side with fewer players.
I believe that their willingness to switch to balance the sides should be encouraged, even at the risk that there is another sub-set of players who will abuse the system to cheat.
I would support a switch timer of 1 to 2 hours.
NO matter what you do to the system, there are those that will find a way to cheat with it.

Just for the record, yes, the "old muppets" as well as the "new z-list muppets" would not want you in the squad. No one likes putting up with your ego, oh and btw, your not even that good.
Furthermore, you can't compare yourself to 'DrBone' of 3 years ago, your behavior have changed tremendously, and no one appreciates it, so just to make it clear, even the 'old muppets' of years past would not want to fly with the BabyBone of today.

why do i keep hearing JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!
As far as the 12hr rule: i think it should be decreased.
I also think they should show the Number of people in each country in the login screen with EW,MW, LW etc, this way those that like to switch to lower #'s can before loggin in.
example: B-100 K- 95 R-99 instead of 350/600, show the #'s of inflight.
-

Yes, I agree, they should at least show the numbers in each country before you log in, then let you select the country. Then from there, you are given 1 country switch every 12 hours.

that seems reasonable. assuming it wont allow people to just logoff then back on to get another chance to switch.

i made a topic on that months ago about having a numbers window pop up prior to logging in that showed each countries numbers, then you could choose which side you wanted to join before you logged into the MA then you would still be able to use your change countries once in the game but i guess it fell on deaf ears.
-
To the many who dont care about the war the sides dont matter. To the the ones who only care about flying with squaddies, a side gives a stable place to meet and fly together whenever you log on. To those who do care about the war, it makes it just a little harder to "cheat" by learning of strikes, cvs, etc. For that little reason I guess it makes sense to have it 12 hours.
Frankly I dont care.
-
I appologize UrSelf, i did not search that topic when i made my post. :salute

Yes, I remember, was a good idea, maybe a good disagreement needed to occur before people would be willing to consider a compromise.
that seems reasonable. assuming it wont allow people to just logoff then back on to get another chance to switch.
Awesome, I'm glad semp & others and can come to an agreement, now, lets see if the only people who matter agree, HTC.
HiTech, any objections to the idea, and why?

Never have I been refused about Joining Muppets better ask around.
Incase its too hard for you go ask Grizz then come back.
although there is a thread in the Muppet forum asking people to stop biting at the bait i really cant help myself on this......
during the time frame when Grizz asked you i was already a Muppet, we had a vote system then and EVERYONE was voted upon. you wouldnt have been allowed in, cause my vote counted, if i didnt like you then i would have the support of Skyrock Scotch Jetsom Bipolar and others, who if i stated that you were not a good fit would have most likely supported my request to vote no. not cause i have ever been anyone special in the squad, i have always been the weakest link in playing the game, but because when i was serious about something i supported it with truth and honest convictions.. oh and in case you aint getting my point, i didnt like you then.....(now i really find you just to be pathetic)
in case you were also unaware of another fact at that time, Muppet's had/still have a sick sense of humor....individual Muppet's would, for purely poops and giggles, recruit someone that they new would never be allowed to remain a Muppet, into the squad just to boot them right after acceptance or the next day just for laughs.
twisted....well yes, cruel....absolutely! but it was a fact of the times. they did it to many many many DA queens....if he didnt specifically tell you he would post a vote thread about you in the forum, and then get back to you later, then i most likely think he was setting you up to laugh in your face the next day. oh, and to the very best of my recollections.....no one back then ever posted a thread in our forum putting you up for a membership vote.
bone you are a very the equivalent to a puffer fish, all puff. you may play cartunez aireeoplanez realllllly well, but in the end, when it comes to what counts in the art of being a human being, you are just........well a very lil fish hoping to blow himself up big enough to fool others into thinking he is far more that what he really is.....unfortunately, on some few good people your illussion seems to have worked..
hmmmm babeypuffybone..........i think the name is filling out rather nicely now.....dont you?

I had though the 12 hour rule was implemented to discourage "spys".. I do beleive it has aggravated the lop-sided numbers issue. So IMHO the number of those who switch to the undermaned site to fly against the odds, or to fly the cheap perked rides outnumber the pilers-on. If I'm not mistaken if you switch sides just before the war-win you will not get the perks awarded. I don't know what the minimum time is for that, but I'd vote for 12 hours just to prevent that from happening. I know back in the day the side that was on the verge of winning a map would get mysteriously swamped with numbers and the resultant eny.
-
I'm really sick of this 12 hour BS. Change it back to 1 hour and be done with this. You would think HTC could see by now that well over the majority of the community hates to 12 hour rule.

hotard it has never been about spies. as for switching to win the war I believe you just need to fly a couple of hours for the month in any country then you can switch when it becomes clear who is going to win the war and you get the perks. I would like to say not many do but if you look when the war is won then you will see most of the time the wining country has waaay more numbers than anybody else. and if you pay attention you will notice that the numbers went up because of country switching.

How do you think they "won" it anyway? From having even numbers and using superior airmanship? :rofl

Too short of switch time, you'd find more people taking a peek at the other side (an anonymous version of Battleship) (http://www.rarityguide.com/museum/images/card_and_board_games/battleship__1984_/battleship_board_game.JPG)
Too long of switch time & people would not be able to switch when they want to.
