A large Bish noe mission ( 5+ sets of b24s 10+ 110s and 3 c47s ) came into the radar ring at a24 tonight and as soon as they hit the radar their red dots showed.
So is this a bug or is this something new in the recent update?
-
Over 65ft in a dar ring they will show, i could be wrong tho.
-
they were low like right on the water
-
I bet they blamed the spies :D

good!

If they are at 70ft in the dar ring, they show, darbar or not. Alot of people can't seem to understand this. To solve such a problem, take out the dar, as darbars don't show until 500ft (I think 500). Planes such as a goon require constant adjustment because it will naturally go over the 65ft simply because of it's inclination to gain altitude at such a low height.
Once again:
Radar Up: <65ft -----radar dots
Radar Down: <500ft ---Darbar

Yeah DMGOD's right, they were pretty low to the water. I came in from the south of them at about 10- 12k and saw the whole bunch of them on their run in. When I pulled up my clipboard they were definately showing dot but not bar dar until they started to climb a little. As for their true alt, I couldn't guess as I dove from above looking for the goons.
-
good!
I agree :aok

I think drones will not fly under a certain elevation after forming up, unless about to land.... perhaps they are the culprit?... If so, then the question is, working as intended, or not?...
Also, this could be a radar issue, I tried mowing weeds in my Dora last night (a couple K above sea level, but dodging the tree tops in high terrain), and either there were a couple extremely observant players in the region, or now that I think about it, might of been dar.
-
I saw a couple things that made me wonder if something wasn't right last night. I saw a few enemy planes that looked to me like they were under 65 on the water show up on dar. Now, it's pretty difficult to tell if they're at 60 feet or 70 feet, but it made me wonder. Might be worth it for an interested party or two to conduct a test.

DIE HORDE!!!!!!!!!!!!! DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No more NOE hiding under radar deck. You can't keep a public mission below 65 feet, it's just impossible.
-
I'm still trying to figure out why I can hear a 163 as he intercepts me at 35k feet before an enemy dar bar displays.
-
Um... the NOE altitude is 250ft for the radar bar, and 65ft for the radar ring.
Nothing has changed. The **icon** range was halved for NOE aircraft. That is it.

Drones stay at like 200ft, BUT they don't show on dar, only the 'main' bomber does.

Go to your clipboard.
Go to look at the arena settings and see the radar alt and sector counter alt.
Run film next time.
Check film and look at the exact altitude of the planes involved.
No guesswork needed.
No tinfoil hats needed.
If there's a legit issue, this evidence will help HTC fix it.

In relation to this, last night I was having Enemy Radar dots showing up on the map at an airfield with no Radar. I asked on local, and quite a few other people saw this same thing. They eventually disappeared after about 3 or 4 minutes, but long enough for me to get a very good idea where the guy was hiding to pick people taking off in sector.

:noid :noid What Dot said! :bhead :bhead :bhead

Sounds like shades of Titanic Tuesday to me... The radar often got wonky during Titanic Tuesday.
Maybe we are seeing population growth in game... Wonder when we will hit that Toxic level that triggers the split arenas again.

10mins delay in darbar IIRC
-
so no one has actually bothered testing this to find out if there is a problem with NOE since the patch.
seriously? :huh

Really? That seems a bit long. Maybe check arena settings from the clipboard to see the radar delay setting. I'm at work now, otherwise I'd do it myself.
-
I doubt that's the case, it changes way more often than that. It's what it was set to in FSO last series, if that's what Noir's thinking of.

lmfao they chose a couple of different things to say mostly spiez and me being a cheater

you have it all wrong......... its not too many players in one arena and the obvious fact the game cant handle it that triggers the split........... its all about player attitude because of the numbers <wink>
as far as the radar goes....... I can never remember a time that the radar functioned 100% properly...... weve always had phantom darbars or unexplained occurrences

NOE dar bar is 500 and always will be. its never been 250

Sector counters are for planes above 200 feet.
Radar Dots are any plane above 65 feet within 12 miles of a functioning radar.

last time i checked it was still at 500?

Here is how it worked under the old rules. I thought I read they changed something with this latest update but I need to reread it to figure out exactly how it works:
(The radar type the plane shows is listed underneath it.. otherwise the picture is pretty self explanatory)

Funny thing is that when I uploaded this picture, this was my capcha! Cool!

This should answer once and for all. This was captured at 21:20 on 01/28/2012 from the Late War arena. Dots on radar show for planes above 65' AGL, darbar shows for planes over 250' AGL.

You will never get an complete mission under 65' unless it's full of seasoned sticks. 9 times out of 10 you can't keep everyone under 250' (always 1 or 2 lost souls). Then there is always the few that fly at -1' (but not for long).
Take the dar out or come in high to begin with.

or could the OP be a spy covering his tracks :noid :bolt:

Saturday I was keeping an eye on the Rook front, and kept noticing a phantom bar in the middle of a sector out of the way. I upped a K4 and sped out to investigate. Ran into a mission with NOE lancs, but high escorts, managed to kill 1 lanc and 2 of the escorts and give the warning on the incoming of the mission. All of the escorts ended up going low and the Lancs had to go into the grinder by themselves.
An hour or so later saw a dar building between a couple sectors and went out for a look. Ran into a gaggle of 30 P40E's at 20K. I was able to take a few passes through the gaggle at high speed, picked up one right away. Then I had a pony try and bounce me. He made a horrible pass, ended up 1.5k back, so I made another run through the P40s. Missed on this pass and the pony was back in. Few turns later, I was on his 6, he dove to the deck and ran 2 sectors back to his base. <S> Skishill, great fight :joystick: :rofl.
Anyways <S> to the Rook front this weekend.
As for Dots where they shouldn't be, the little update patch seems to have fixed this. Even at near arena cap over the weekend, I didn't notice the issues from earlier in the week.

I think it was a couple nights ago I saw enemy radar dots inside a dead radar ring of the enemy. When I got to the plane that corresponded to the dots it looked like it was constantly shedding something, like a shadow peeling off the plane every 5 to 10 seconds. Was a p51 I think anyway not a bomber.

I miss noes.
Used to spend alot of time map watching, then upping to defend.
It was my favorite thing to do in the game.

Any group over 20 should show on dar even when 50 feet :D
