Trying to research and wanted to know every ones input, I've gotten some use of the thrust masters duel throttle (secondary is used for rudder for now).
Its not to effective, but it works.

My saitek pedals have lasted almost 6 years. I don't wear shoes while playing though. Keeps them from getting messed up. Once a month I use a vaccuum on the sliders also.

Simped-usb... A small mod.

I use CH Pro pedals. Some say the foot pads sit too close together but I haven't had any trouble with that. I'm 6'1" and 270 lbs with size 11 feet. They work well with out any problems and I have had them for years. I like that they are a small foot print and fit easily under my desk. I don't have to move them out of the way while doing other things on my computer.

+1 for the simpeds, I've had CH and now have simped, I wouldn't go back.
Nice mod there Nurminen !

There are 2 Saitek pedals available, if you have the money for god's sake get the Combat Pedals. They are by far the best of the CH/Saitek pedals I've had, and even though they cost about 75% more, they are about 400% better. Just the construction materials make them worth it IMO.

contact caldera in the classified section. he's got a pair of almost new saitek pedals.

Saitek
there is a design fault with the CH pedals that nrshida and pervert documented with pics in our squad forum a while ago (too lazy to find the thread, sorry)
basically it's very easy for some of the internal wires to come loose and be severed by one of the pedals moving, rendering them completely useless

I found a set of saitek pro flight rudder pedals online, I searched for open box condition and got lucky. Sold once, opened, returned and sold to me for $35 including shipping.
No regrets

my toe brake wires came loose and got cut on the CH but other than that they have taken abuse for 4 years now

WOW! I must be the lucky one. My CH pedals have worked for over 8 years with out an issue. They must have screwed up when they made mine!
Like anything made, it's possible to get a "lemon" however I believe that CH has an outstanding product that lasts a long time.

I agree, Every product has a lemon or two - I bought a set of Rigid power tools 3 years ago that had some pretty harsh reviews, people complaining about either being to loud or break's easy - I've done everything from drop the batteries in a septic tank, off a roof - and nothing has broken yet and everything works great.... plus the lifetime warranty is honored in every way that I had a damaged tool.
I only wish some of the joysticks and pedals had this kind of warranty, one reason I went with the Thrustmaster Warthog, it comes with a 3 year warranty and I bought a 3 year warranty on top of that for $50, giving me 6 years of security.
I guess it comes down to personal opinion, I had a Saitek Joystick and found it to be complete garbage, this is my biggest concern going with its pedals, might be leaning more towards the CH Pedals.

drop the batteries in a septic tank
I hope it was empty.

I hope it was empty.
Nope, was cutting PVC pipes to get the pump out of it (pump died) and the battery wasn't clicked into place - my fault but they were quite happy to exchange it.
-
So wait, you dug it out and brought it back?

hell yeah, you know how much those batteries cost? all I had to do was clean it up and return for a new one.
they didn't even ask questions.

Best pedals i have ever used have been the Saitek Comabt Pedals. I liked the Pro pedals but they didn't last so good. I have not had Simpeds even though I was foing to be the US diatributor before Mr Hoffman passed

When the Saitek pro pedals first came out there was a design issue that allowed them to skip off of their tracks from time to time. You could take them apart and fix it but a month or two later it would happen again.
Saitek mailed me a free set of reinforcement brackets along with installation instructions that were supposed to fix them. Unfortunately I waited for them to pop off track again before I bothered taking them apart and during that time my wife left me and somehow managed to take the brackets with her.Of course right afterwards it happened again so I ended up fabricating my own fix to the problem using some nuts and epoxy but they held up great for a long time after that.
From what I understand Saitek was real quick to correct this problem on the assembly line so after about two months on all of their pedals no longer had this issue. I've seen many hardcore CH fans that love their Saitek pedals but I don't hear too much bad about the quality of the Saitek pedals.
Some CH Pedals do have a wiring problem (looks like it's due to the wiring not being positioned properly into the retaining clips) but for the VAST MAJORITY of units they hold up well and last a long, long time. The only real complaint I see about CH Pedals is their narrow stance. Personally I prefer the feel of the Saiteks as they are more wide and more comfortable but it's all about what you prefer.
Price wise both the Saitek Pro Pedals and the CH Pedals are about the same so really it comes down to personal preference. I have no experience with the Saitek Combat Pedals so I can't say if they're worth the extra money or not.
Personally I now run a modified G940 setup (with its throttle and rudders wired through a separate controller board to bypass the flawed factory firmware) and its pedals physically work reasonably well except they don't want to work smoothly if my feet aren't properly positioned on them.. a little on the 'cheesy' side and I'm sure they'd break if I put all my weight on them but they seem to have been holding up pretty well for the last 18 months or so...
