when you join a mission, your skin should temporarily change to whatever skin the mission commander has selected for that aircraft/vehicle.
when you leave a mission, your skin reverts to whatever you have selected.

Mr. von Richthofen, would you like to answer this question?
-
One thing that got me during a scenario when we were flying 56th FG, it was rps in a way and when we got to the 47M we had all these great 56th skins but due to the flights being a planned mission we all flew in the default skin.
-
I see no harm in having this idea implimented somehow.
-
for the scenario, replace the default skin with whichever turns you on, problem solved. then it won't matter what the other guy uses. same for mission, I like using my favorite one and wouldn't join but still fly along.

I l like the idea that the CO of a mission would be able to pick the skins for the planes on the mission.
I'm sure that many of us have our favorite skin for whatever we choose to fly.
Not many missions call for any variant of the P38, the only plane I fly, so I don't really have to worry about it.
However, personally, when I fly the P38G, I use Tom Lynchs plane. 39FS/35th FG
For the J & L model I use planes from the 80th FS, the Headhunters, even though I don't belong to that squadron.
They just happen to be my most favorite squadron, next to the 475th FS Satan's Angels, second favorite.
I'm a minor history WW2 buff, SWPA.
I grew up in Burbank, CA. The Pacific was more of a concern than Europe, to my parents.
I'm 64, do the math. When I was a kid, it hadn't been that long ago that WW2 ended.
Just another old guy's opinion
my $0.02 worth on the subject. :old:

you still wont have everybody with the same skin, trying to say I am. some people like to fly with their own favorite skin so they will not join the mission but fly alongside it.

so you'd leave the mission and fly along just so you can have your favorite skin?
why is the skin so important?
right back at ya :P

I was asking why it was so important to him for the mission as I it is important to me because of my films. and because I have a t-shirt with my favorite pony skin that I wear when I fly. sorry dadkev i lied when i say i fly nekked. and yes I would leave the mission just to wear my favorite skin. If requested not to fly alongside I would not be there either.
as you can see everybody has a story to tell :salute.

Won't work... Say the mission planner is rolling a P-51, but is escorting goons, 110s, and B-17s... Can't match his P-51 skin to a B-17, right?
I'd like if they just let you PICK a skin. Whatever you had from the hangar stays selected. That would solve most of the problems. Those that want to coordinate can (events, squads, etc).

I think he means able to select a skin for each type of aircraft and each model.

when you join a mission, your skin should temporarily change to whatever skin the mission commander has selected for that aircraft/vehicle.
so if I make a buffs and escort luft mission, the 190A5s pick up whatever skin I have previously selected in the hangar for the 190A5 and the Ju88s likewise. :)

I like the idea in concept - allowing the mission planner to select plane, fuel, ord loadout, and skin. The only problem I see is what if someone in the mission hasn't downloaded the skin you select? Revert to default??
-
if they dont have the skin, they will see everyone in the default skin (as now.) everyone who has the skin will see them in the selected skin.

Why is there always some clown like you chiming in on a decent idea that you won't have to participate in if you don't want to? Great Idea to assign skins if the mission commander wants. Missions are about teamwork and it is cool if all on the same team are wearing the same uniform. This would just open up other skin options. And.................you can still tag alomg with your own skin if you choose. Why ask why if you remain unaffected?

I like joining in on missions. I also like to pick my own skin. I flew the Nine Oh Nine and The Dragon and His Tail -- guess which B-17 and B-24 skin I prefer? I detest the yellow-tailed B-17 skin. Skins are about personal choice -- they have no effect on a mission so why force them on someone?

They wouldn't be, only if you joined up. You can still opt out of joining, pick your own skin and tag along.

because you dont understand how skins work. it doesnt matter which skin I have selected in a mission. if you want to see everybody with the same skin, then make your choice the default one. and you will see it, which is what you want. who cares about what I can see.
does that make sense to you?

I have asked for this before and would like to see it implemented. As a member of the Devil Dogs squad, i fly in missions nightly and once a week we have a big mission on squad night, which is always a recreation from a actual mission that was flown during WW2. As it is now, when a mission is put up, those of us in a flight leading roll or others who wish to take their own favorite skin just up on the runway early. But I think it would be nice to have the option to select which skins you would like to have for the mission to co-inside with the history based mission that we are flying. For example, A actual mission of B-17's was escorted by P-51D's of the 357th or P47M's of the 377th, It would be great to have the option of setting up the escort Pony's and Jug's with said FG/FS colors respectfully. Just my opinion on a bit of more realism to add to the game. Yes, I realize the if we want it to be more realistic to the actual FG/FS colors we could all just up early on the runway with it, but that also creates alot of chaos to the event and slows everybody down by having to go in and select all the required load outs for the mission. It would just be nice if the mission leader could do this himself and have it set up already when people join a mission. IMHO <<<S>>>
