Skins and Missions
« on: February 08, 2012, 09:22:41 AM »

when you join a mission, your skin should temporarily change to whatever skin the mission commander has selected for that aircraft/vehicle.
when you leave a mission, your skin reverts to whatever you have selected.

One thing that got me during a scenario when we were flying 56th FG, it was rps in a way and when we got to the 47M we had all these great 56th skins but due to the flights being a planned mission we all flew in the default skin.
No thank you Turkish, I'm sweet enough.

for the scenario, replace the default skin with whichever turns you on,  problem solved.   then it won't matter what the other guy uses.   same for mission, I like using my favorite one and wouldn't join but still fly along.

I l like the idea that the CO of a mission would be able to pick the skins for the planes on the mission.

I'm sure that many of us have our favorite skin for whatever we choose to fly.

Not many missions call for any variant of the P38, the only plane I fly, so I don't really have to worry about it.

However, personally, when I fly the P38G, I use Tom Lynchs plane. 39FS/35th FG

For the J & L model I use planes from the 80th FS, the Headhunters, even though I don't belong to that squadron.

They just happen to be my most favorite squadron, next to the 475th FS Satan's Angels, second favorite.

I'm a minor history WW2 buff, SWPA.
I grew up in Burbank, CA. The Pacific was more of a concern than Europe, to my parents.

I'm 64, do the math. When I was a kid, it hadn't been that long ago that WW2 ended.

you still wont have everybody with the same skin, trying to say I am.  some people like to fly with their own favorite skin so they will not join the mission but fly alongside it.

I was asking why it was so important to him for the mission as I it is important to me because of my films.  and because I have a t-shirt with my favorite pony skin that I wear when I fly.  sorry dadkev i lied when i say i fly nekked.  and yes I would leave the mission just to wear my favorite skin.  If requested not to fly alongside I would not be there either.

as you can see everybody has a story to tell  :salute.

Won't work... Say the mission planner is rolling a P-51, but is escorting goons, 110s, and B-17s... Can't match his P-51 skin to a B-17, right?

I'd like if they just let you PICK a skin. Whatever you had from the hangar stays selected. That would solve most of the problems. Those that want to coordinate can (events, squads, etc).

I think he means able to select a skin for each type of aircraft and each model.
