Title: TnDep
Post by: TnDep on February 28, 2012, 08:06:01 PM
Just wanted to say for everyone I had the pleasure to meet or talk to on the game, it's been a blessing to me.  It's time for me to move on away from this game and work on trying to keep my family together.  As some of you know how this game can neglect your family I played this way to much this past summer and I didn't realise the feelings my wife had started to get towards me.  I'm sure some of you are in the same boat as I am currently.  I'm sure I'll check the boards every know and then so drop a pm to me every once and while if you want.  Best of luck to all of you

TnDep, the game can disappear in an instance, you built a foundation of a wife and family - glad you decided to change priorities, I hope you are able to salvage the damage control.

Godspeed friend, will meet again :)

Best of luck to you.  This sim-game can be very addictive, as most of us know.   :)

As always, your family, church, job, skewl, and other such real life stuff ALWAYS and in ALL WAYS comes before Aces High.

If AH is causing friction between your family and yourself, you are making the right decision.

Yep, Family first.  I well remember during my Airwarrior early days when my wife told me she was tired of looking and talking to the side of my head.   Wife and kids far more important than anything we do in a cartoon airplane.

Good luck :aok

Well, TnDep, not only were you a huge role model in AH, but you were always one in RL. My first week playing this you landed like 9 kills back to back in the DA and since the I always wanted to be like you. I followed you :) Rowdy Ones, and The Few :). Soon after that Me, you, bone, and spek left we formed The new Squad Top Gun. You went from being my FPH to me waxing your azzz  :D :P logs more I have to say, but I'll just tell you when your on ventrilo :). <S> brothah!

:aok Good move TnDep.  Pass it along to the family, that we thank them for having shared your time with us.  :salute  Take care of that family and somehow I hope that you can return your attention towards them and without stress.  Like many of us we hop on to unwind from real world demands.  It is a sign of the quality human being that you are that you are able to recognize where to place your priorities, and share with those that are really important in your life.

 :salute  Good friend.

:furious After all that time I spent on the phone with you doing the build on your system :furious

Just kidding. If you have something that you cherish as in a family, nurture it to the fullest especially since the arrival of the newest addition of the baby. The game and your friends will be here when you return. If you ever need to talk, you should still have PorkyPig's phone number. Feel free to call at any time you need to. I hope to see you after the trip to Dayton in early July. I need to collect on that bottle of Goldschlager and that get out of jail free card.

I was getting flak from wife ack also when I played too much. I worked it out with her that Tuesday (when it was Titanic) would be the night I would play and spend the other nights with her. It worked for me with a few hours on some other nights slipped in.
After working hard every day AH gives some relaxation but it's not worth losing whats really important. I don't want to be a lonely man with only my hand on my Joystick.  :joystick:

Best of luck! Once this is sorted out, come back. I went through my own 'com'n to Jesus' moment with the wife about 6 months ago. Then a second adjustment period with the daughter last week. I'm going to fly but far less. Likely 10-15/hrs a month. It's all good. Looking forward to your return.

Yeah, I used to have one of those....  and well, I've shared that story already a few times....  one's own life and perspectives can change quickly.

I wish you luck, and we hope to see you back around here real soon, like when she starts getting sick of you (but hopefuly still together, just not as often.  :aok ).

Take care of your family TnDep, and hopefully you will be able to come back for a sortie or two now and then after a while.  ;)
I know how it is, I have been there myself. I was at a point of getting really hooked on this game, and I spent hours upon hours on a daily basis flying cartoon planes just to get really good like you. Finally my wife put her foot down and made me wake up.

Now I play more randomly, one or two hours now and then as it fits in with the kids and wife. And it works really well too.  :aok
I don't get much better as a cartoon fighter pilot, but I get the thrill of being in a fight every now and then. And a few nights a week I might even get several hours to hang out with my squaddies in MA without getting in any trouble with my wife at all, because we have made an agreement that works perfect for us.    All I have to do is make sure I don't fall back to my old habits of being all consumed into this game when I am needed around the house for other chores.

I will miss you TnDep, even though its been a while since we have had a fight. I still hope we have more good fights to come, so just take good care of your family now first of all and we will meet again in the cartoon skies at a later time Sir!  :old: :aok :salute

I feel your pain, TnDep. You're doing the right thing, though!

The very morning I got married, I gave the people I hung around with in all the multiplayer games I had subscriptions to all the account names and passwords and I haven't been on since. Now, I stay on Aces High and a couple single player games like Skyrim/Fallout as they are games I can sit down and get up whenever I have a moment. The only real sacrifice my family makes for me is when a scenario comes out that I'd like to take part in it.

These warm comments mean alot, I will never return to this game unfortunately.  My wife moved out Tuesday and I've not flown hardly any in the last few months and she's still not happy.  I love her very much and my daughters 6 and my son is 11 weeks.  I've treid to talk her into going to counceling and she says it's too late that she'd rather see me on night shift then to be at home.  I don't deserve this I'm being torn away from my kids, but theres nothing I can do about it.  I told her that it's never to late to work on our marriage and she shows no emotions.  I"m heart broken I'm a good man and I thought I picked the right women to spend my life with, but she doesn't love me no more.  I'm sure life will go on but it's so hard.

I hope you guys that our in my position takes this into your heart, you need a date night atleast once a month without the kids and to go dancing and laughter together, an emotional relationship.  I wish I could do alot of things over where every night when I come on and check my kids and make sure their heart is beating and to kiss them when I'm on night shift or come home when I'm on day shift and everyday help my little girl do her homework and start her bath water and to rock her while we watch the disney channel but I'll only see them about 50% of the time now.

Theirs my guts, but I truly appeciate the comments

I know now why people commit suicide, although I know it will get better I can see why they do it although I'm not thinking about it just saying I see through this stress how it could drive someone to

take care guys

I'm sure we are really sad to hear this, I'm really sorry for you.

It's not too late, maybe limited options. Can you get a family member to help intervene? Ask her to do one last thing for you. There is an incredible book that helped my wife and I out a few years ago. A book titled "The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Last" by Gary Chapman. He's a great minister right here in Tennessee.

Bottom line, we "hear" love in different ways. I started doing e dishes a few years back and no matter what happens my wife knows I love. This means more to her then a diamond necklaces. We all communicate in different ways.

Great life changing read, shorter book, easy read. Beg her to read it with you, or even alone. It may help open up a channel for communication. If you need a copy or two PM me your address. I will gladly buy and mail you two copies, one for you and her. Let me know!

Take care of your family and yourself first.  Time with them is always a premium.  By the way leave updates of your work schedule and partol areas so I know when I can zip through your area without worrying about being stopped or receiving a ticket.  And most of all you and your family are in our prayers.  May God watch over and care for you all.

As some of you know how this game can neglect your family I played this way to much this past summer and I didn't realise the feelings my wife had started to get towards me.  I'm sure some of you are in the same boat as I am currently.

I know all about it. How many times did you say on vox " is that the sun coming up? " If you answered more than twice then your wife prolly has ill feelings toward you. But for some of us this game makes you lose all track of time and place and becomes your new reality.

My wife was ready to leave me over my amount of game play so don't go down that road.

Actually I think there is. To some of us it is inconceivable that this could occur, but it does happen. This should be a warning to all players. It COULD happen to you. Be aware how much time you spend....not flying, but AWAY from your family. Family time is far more important than a game, any game, even one as great as this one.

Some folks just don't understand decorum...it isn't that we can't deal with your "brutal", but arguably "helpful" honesty Bip...its that we're flabbergasted that you have the pomposity and arrogance to flaunt your self-proclaimed immunity to the trials and tribulations of others.

There's a time and place for most things....you seem to have some of the worst timing of anyone I've ever read...but you certainly accomplish your "look at me's" with the regularity of a menstral cycle.

Del,

Theirs more to this story then I put down.  She says it's not postpartum depression that she shut down long ago and that instead of arguing she just didn't say anything.  She said were just not combatibility never have been, she smokes I don't can't stand them, she hates sex never had orgasms, never initiated sex in 10 years, she reads books I don't, I like watching sports every now in then she don't even know the rules to the games, this list can go on but I still love her, shes the mother of my kids and besides that I'm a christian and I don't believe in the divorce if it's workable and it is.  I love my family more then anything, and that will never change.  I got alot of emotions going on right now, but definently a grumpy wife would be better then what I have right now  :lol and as far as diapers go it don't bother me I've always changed them on both of my kids.

I'm very open to all of you because I hope my situation can save another marriage or help someone else here not have to go through this.  I may write a book, writing soothes me for some reason.

I don't see anything wrong with what you said BP, we've known each other for awhile.  The game played a small part in this and really just sped this process up, it was inevitable.  But the problem is the game played a part no matter how small it is I neglected my family not totally but enough that this game played a part.  I still fed my family every night helped my daughter with her homework, started her bath water got her night nights on, and layed with her in bed.  But instead of talking to my wife and asking her how her day went ect. I was playing.  Of course I'm mentioning all my faults and few of hers, but I'm not one to 100% blame the other person I had my downfalls too.

I'm going to call TNdep this afternoon, and I don't want to sound preachy at all. My wife and I were really struggling a few years back. Classic everything that all of us go through. We read this book and it has been a gem for me more then anything. I realized that no matter how hard I worked, how stable the income, etc that didn't 'speak' to her. For everything I've ever done when I do the dishes, take out the trash, get the girls to bed...that is her 'love language.' She's happy, forgiving, etc. I buy her something nice, complete whatever with her. And all women are different. The author boils it down to 5 potential categories. Find the one your women is in, speak that language and presto!

Women are crazy to understand. This book goes a long way to solving the mystery. I have 6 older sisters and you would think after all the women in my life I would have had a clue but didn't. Really worth the read.

I'll be quiet now.

Already been through it once, what started 50/50 went to 100/0 - I'm lucky I walked when I did and ill leave it at that, my ex was a diabetic type 2 - did it matter? nope - I couldn't stand to see her go paula dean on herself. Hospital trips? once in three months usually due to overwhelming high blood sugar. I don't have diabetes, but I changed my diet around, tried to change living arrangements, but I couldn't put up with it anymore.

I stopped trying to figure things out and just let them work out or let them fail, frankly I work to much to bother giving a crap anymore.

I may be next TnDep, in the sense of leaving the game at least, my account ran out about a week or so ago, and since I was disqualified from BadlEagl's bracket (because I couldn't renew it at the time due to financial reasons) I have had no urge what so ever to play Aces High, maybe it's just a break, maybe Ill come back, I don't know right now.  :uhoh   Anyway,  :salute everyone keep killing  :aok

Good luck and good bye dep, sometimes the best thing to do is to throw everything in the bin of life and start again.
