well what are we meant to do now? can we discuss the meaning of life?
Debrody and I had some very nice fights this morning. I think I might even start liking the guy if he remains calm!! :aok
-
Is this a personal attack? :noid
-
no I was complimenting Debrody on his much improved ACM. Especially in the Ki-84 awesome.
-
Yes, he is getting very good in other planes other then that ole g6. :)
-

He's practicing with you for upcoming fights with me. :D
He's still hurting from yesterday's one turn kill shot in my ki84. :neener:
:ahand
-
I think a good discussion on the meaning of life would be a nice change from the habitual goings-on around here. Time to step back and look at each other as human beings instead of potential kills?
So, what do you think bruv? You started it; lets hear what you think.
:airplane:

I fear for your safety if you fight him in Ki-84's.

Need to close the maintenance window you're letting the bugs in.
-
I fear for your safety if you fight him in Ki-84's.
I checked my stats and even I have more kills then deaths against Midways shade name in Ki84s this tour. Debrody is far and away more skilled then I am. So, my money is on Debrody.

none of you bastages got my permission to take out my plane........
:furious :furious

Yea some fun ones, especially that very long G6 one when you smoked me on the 1st turn and i kept stalling out every time i could get behind you, haha : )
I could slap the hell outta myself every time when i lost due to my stupidity.
Weird enough, i very rarely fly the Ki-84 yet i perform better in it than in my favourite one.
Thanks for your time <S>
Midway, honestly, go to hell and leave me alone. I wasnt saying a word to you, there is absolutely no need for your hipocricy. What do you think, who are you trolling me? DOH
Please all the trollers, stay away from me.
-
The Ki84 is a fun ride. Im suprised we dont see more of them. Heres a model of one I built some years ago when I was big on it.

You and Bruv are posting publicly on the message board instead of private mailing each other.... ergo you will receive comments re your posts, on occasion. :devil
I enjoyed fighting you in my ki84 and winning :ahand yesterday and think it's great you got in one and practiced some with it. Hope to run into your ki84 soon. :)

needless to say I will wait to build more till they are all out of the house :rofl

How large is that model, Pipz? Looks like a big one on the picture, as detailed... :aok
As for Midway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXsCokh-NIQ

Nice model Pipz. Is it a Hasagawa or Tamiya?
I have to resist the temptation to buy one of those myself :bhead

Yes, goodbye Midway, I expect your PNG is in the post. Still, you'll always have channel 200 :salute

:huh Did you watch the video? He posted that about me. I vulched him in MA which made him mad after he shot me down and tried landing my scalp. You should see the pm mail he sends me Some get too upset and start with the crude talk because I didn't fight "their" way. I do still vulch even though I no longer HO. MA is not DA. I have never talked that way. Been vulched (and HOed) on landing many times and never bothers me. You? :headscratch:
:salute

See rule #4.

Now now now, come on, you know Debrody has a short fuse and you do tend to antagonise people when you're in the mood. You and I both know that's true. Provoking people into reacting is not needed. Consider your ways :old:
-
You continously cursed me on 200 all the way while you knew i couldnt answer. What a loser.
You got mad at me, got the red fog and had to auger into my wounded, landing aircraft after i got you in a 2v1. What a brainless loser.
You try to sting me on the BBS that i lost. I had some fights with Bruv, win or lose, who the ... cares, then you came here and try to troll me that you could vulch me so im so lame. What a ...in loser.
After all the BS you givin to me, you expect to be handled as a man. Also you expect me to keep my opinion and eat all that crap you threw on me. Eager expectation. What a loser.
Yet you sing odes about honesty. If there were a statue of hypocricy, that would look just like you. What a hypocrite loser.
At the age of 54, you got nothing better to do but trolling me like a 13 years old agressive kid. Epic life fail? Some people realized that "there is a sun outside... the moon... starts..." What a loser.
Fluffin leave me alone, loser.
Have never cursed. Show one screen shot of me cursing. Have never been mad or "red fog" as you call it. Have never called you a mean name. Not one time. You?
I will vulch, on occasion. Reason I hit the ground was because I was very fast in the ki84 and it does not dive well. Not a big deal at all (to me).
Btw not that it matters much but am not 54 either. :)

Some people simply have irreconcilable differences and should not interact. You are never going to get on you two. Be mature and just shake hands and separate is my advice. If you encounter each other in the MA just <S> whatever the outcome and leave it at that. Although recently it has been pointed out that my cultural differences make contact with Americans often difficult and I think I am forced to agree. Perhaps I should refrain from posting on such matters and confine myself to technical matters and leave you to it?

Odd because Debrody is very nice and helpfull on many occasions.
:old: Nrshida, a pilot with much wisdom.

Yes, but I'm afraid of heights :old:

Admit it Midway, you go out of your way to push Debrody's "buttons" on channel 200. He's not the only one you try to do it to, but he certainly reacts more then most. Your little innocent angel front is a load of BS.

 in the sense, as I said, that I do not curse, do not call mean crude names, and never get mad at any AH pilots. Not one time...ever. You?

Getting mad is a normal outlet and a healthy response. As opposed to storing things up and letting it twist your personality and leading to abnormal and sociopathic behaviour.
Now let's talk about my fee or I am going to get very very angry

It's a computer game/simulation with digital images of aeroplanes. RL may have reasons to get mad like when you get robbed, but at most I might get disappointed at something, but never mad or "red fog" angry. Too easy to up another plane. :)

That point would be valid if you were interacting with AI but on the other end of your computer is another person. And Aces High is technically a Virtual Environment by the way.

Well, just describing myself. Have never been mad at anyone flying in AH. Can't even think of anything you can do to get me to that point. :)
-
And yet you have observed it in others so you know it exists but you choose to attribute it to being a personal failing on their part?
This analysis is getting very expensive Midway :old:
I think you should be civil and polite, respectful of other people's rights and simply fly well. Better to be known for that wouldn't you agree?

This is a game of war and simulated blood splattered on windshields, and picking, vulching, HOing, and ganging (in the MA, that is).
:old: Each must choose their own path.
The most fun fight is with the guy that can't stand you. Winning or losing that fight makes it all the more interesting. Which is why I so much enjoy the crying on 200 or the PMs. Very rewarding.... Very rewarding indeed. :devil

you know most people consider you as a sideshow? good for a small laugh to be forgotten 5 seconds later Kinda like a fart.
Also whoever threadjacked this good job lol completely off topic now.

Oh I see. Well then you've clarified your position and your agenda very frankly. I find that a little disturbing and sadistic myself and disagree that anyone's chosen path should violate people's right to be treated with civilility, the odd flash of temper aside, but hey, that's just me.
Good luck to you Midway, I hope you find your path rewarding.

:old: Personal attack! He used the F word. Personal attack indeed!

This is what is known as a 'strawman' attack :old:
Midway posted that he enjoys fighting (in cartoon planes) with people who don't like him and finds the crying PMs and 200 whines rewarding
You then somehow spin this into Midway not treating people with civility
In fairness although Midway has a few personal failings you can't say that he is rude or uncivil to people in game
-

I thought he was very rude putting holes in my wing.
-
This is what is known as a 'strawman' attack :old:
It would be a strawman if Midway didn't go around antagonising people into disliking him deliberately. In other words he is at least as culpable as those with whom he takes issue. But thanks for playing Mr. Coombz :lol
How do you know Midway isn't rude or uncivil to people in game if you, by your own admission, do not tune to channel 200? :old:

Angry people sometimes make less worthy opponents. Consider this:-
"Everything you do, if not in a relaxed state will be done at a lesser level than you are proficient. Thus the tensed expert marksman will aim at a level less than his/her student." — Bruce Lee
Rattling an opponent was a technique Mr. Muhammad Ali employed :old:

I saw plenty of his 200 antics before I stopped tuning in :) Annoying, sure, uncivil and disrespectful? no. deliberately antagonising, maybe. It simply speaks volumes of the thin skin and large egos (not to mention mob mentality) of those who got angry with him and attacked him following his perfectly pitched trolls.

Sorry, even if true (and I'm not convinced it is, he certainly never caused me to dislike him deliberately, and he's shot me down fairly many times and HO'd me a couple as well) this just isn't the same as 'violating people's right to be treated with civility'. Perhaps I should also have accused you of hyperbole as well as a strawman argument :aok
Perhaps you could fairly accuse him of violating people's right to treat others with civility, because he sends them into such a frothing rage that they just can't help but be disrespectul and uncivil to him :D

Perhaps I could earn your respect if we had a friendly Spitfire Mark IX duelling session Midway?

Well I'm hardly going to attack or argue with you before you've said anything :headscratch: to quote Conky "I'm not an impossibilist" :lol
And no, it's not a matter of opinion...in no universe imaginable is Midway 'violating people's right to be treated with civility'.
As I said before he has some faults but being rude or uncivil to other players simply isn't among them...in fact it's probably the fact that he winds people up without resorting to name calling or outright disrespect that makes him so infuriating to some people

Yes you are absolutely right about everything.
I don't fly the Spit 9 in the MA Midway, it's unpossible. DA in secret for a set of friendlies. Come on, it'll be a laugh. You can even come on the GFC's Vent as a guest. If you're really lucky you might get to hear Zack talk about savoury meat products. :old:

It's not fun (for me).... very sterile boring environment.... no variety. Much more fun to run into people in MA at varying altitudes, headings, suprised by whether the pilot is good, or learning, or an expert.... suprised or knowing others may be around and create 2 or 3 v 1s.... unknown E states when icon vis..., etc...
I like to have fun.

So there is always an excuse available? Just asking...Sterile makes for skillful fights with no interruptions and no shenanigans from uninterested, uninvited 3rd, 4th and 5th parties.

getting back to the original post Bruv or Debrody i would really enjoy some training in the ki84 or any plane for that matter
tired of getting smacked around all the time....sigh...<S>
-
I thought Bruv's original topic was to start a random conversation since the servers were down.
Midway, you know when you talk about shooting people down, you do factor in things like energy, positions, numbers, plane types, situation, etcetera right? Or do you get a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction regardless?

It's just fun to fight, win or lose, regardless of the situation. :)
More fun to win, if the pilot is very good and had an advantage of some sort :D
Even more fun if they hate losing and start PMing or crying on 200.
Most fun if it's 2 or 3 v me and I win. :x
Less fun if they run home and I can't catch them. :frown:
Especially fun if they shot me down, head home, I reup and catch them as they try to land my scalp. :neener:

See rule #4.

And the bestestest fun is when a retard augering into me landing then bragging about how he owned me. Then i up and kick his arse, again and again, even in 2v1s.

How fricken awesome when someone comments a fun fight with another one and in one page it turns into a retarded troll fest. Youre awesome.

Soooo.... I hear the maintenance window has closed and we can fly again. :aok
-
Midway operates under the "Anger equals suckage" pinciple which states (correctly I might add) that if you can upset your opponent mentally in anyway you might "Get under his skin", if that happens you get "into his head" and once that occurs you will "own" him. Anger equals lowered performance the same way rising thermostats do. It is therefor advantageous to divorce oneself from ego, pride, emotions, expectations, etc.
Personal comments directed at him on 200 (and no he has never used any or cursed) confirms in him that this tactic is effective. My feeling is that if it didn't gain Midway (ManoWar also)some advantage to troll so they would quickly lose interest in at least the tactic, if not the server, forum, and community all together. Though I do believe Midway enjoys a good troll often, I do not think him to be nothing but one.
He appears to me to be motivated by the 'spirit of competition' like most of us. This is an argument about styles and expression between a powder keg (Debrody) and a carelessly lit match (Midway). Please keep all hands in the cab at all times and for your own safety and others we ask that you not feed the trolls.

Midway has come out of his skin in the last few months. I have found him to be a bit louder than in the past. Now, I have been playing very irregularly these days, so what may have been a gradual step up, for me has been a full on surprise.
What I find most interesting is how Midway is slowly morphing (sloooooowwwwlllyyy) into a pilot who seeks the good fight, regardless of the conditions, and does not devolve into the HO, kill the other guy at all costs, kind of stick that dominates this game. 100% of the time, this time last year, I would get HOd by Midway, and he would be proud of the fact I was in the tower. Shameless to say at the least, but if that is how some self actualize, eh who cares right? Now though, he really is becoming a student of the game. If only more guys would choose to walk that path.
On antagonizing guys, I don't like it. I like DB, but I gave him an earful on country for getting on hymi. No one should go out of their way to be critical of others not flying the way they think the game should be flown. You may find pages of me on the BBs arguing the opposite of the point, but in a new ear squeezing ooosa moment, I have just accepted it as what it is. Until the community at large starts policing itself on what most of us perceive to be rude or unfriendly, you will just have to accept it.
This of course starts from the top down. When the only rule is don't be a dick, well that is pretty broad. All AH netiquette is unofficial. Nothing is being done (as I know at least) to discourage some of the ungentlemanly practices. Spawn point are still mapped and fixed allowing dudes to sit in Panthers and land 50 kills, which in general kills a GV fight and then brings in the dreaded "bomb XXXXs". Field ack is still as weak as it was since the update (remember field ack 5 years ago!!). CVs can still park close enough to the coast that their ada augments the numbers of the attacking force. CVs can still be pulled out of the game and hidden from others use (no reprisal for that). The list goes on....
William Golding was on point when he wrote the Lord of the Flies. When you take away rules and structure and you allow anonymity, the worst, not the best in people, flourishes. It is not until authority returns that so does normalcy.
-

Authority with boundaries. Authority with no boundaries (laws, rules, accountability) = tyranny. That's the only issue in online gaming...to many inmates and not enough prison guards. The rules are the rules but so much goes on in such small bursts of time that most are not caught unless its reported.
No in game situation bothers me particularly except running from a fight. The only reason to run is to reserve ego or score and neither matter unless HiTech begins to allow us to cash our scores in for fabulous prizes and Caribbean cruises.
-
You know the only thing that gets under my skin is being hod. Everything else is just what the game self promotes. Xxxxx landed 53 kills in a panther. 200 wtgs abound. Xxxx landed 17 victories in a tempest. More wtgs fill the buffer.
In the end I think it is all about you. If you are a skinny jean wearing Xbox type, well win at all cost. Personally I drink scotch and chill-lax during ah, nothing is worth getting all bent out of shape it is after all just a cirtual airplane with a virtual pilot and a virtual score.
-

I agree and disagree with your interpretation of said book.
I disagree because it represents what happens when people who are brought up devoid of the ability to think for themselves, who rely on said structure and order to maintain control of their actions to cope with the realities and pressures of life when said order and structure is removed.
I agree because it is true that order does bring out the best in people; just not anyone else's order.
I might add, that I don't remember anything about "anonymity" in that book. It has been a long time, so correct me how im missing that bit, if so.

If you recall the painting of the faces. It allowed them to conceal themselves behind a veil and therefore release what they truly were unconstrained by norms.
-
I must read it again, its been a long time.
I always thought that despite the painted faces they still were able to recognise eachother (somewhat) though and considered it more of an attempt at a collective identity to who *is* and who *isnt*, sort of like the insignias on our beloved planes for respective nationalities.
-
The key there was they could recognize each other. However, the painting of the face Became a placebo mask. I last read it in 1987 so i also could be misinterpreting I am an engineer by the heavens not some turtle neck wearing literature dude after all.

Don't listen to him Torquila, he is a turtle neck wearing literature dude, I have his picture:-

I hate window maintenance. Scraping and repainting the frames... And I REALLY hate cleaning the outsides of those second story windows.

Very dark book as well but the book was much more about the psychosis of the adrenalin addiction associated with risky behavior. Still a great flick man. I bet I watched that movie 100 times as a kid.

Oh I don't think I've seen that one. Thanks

How good is Debrody on a scale from 1-10?
imho 7...
Bruv 8, Grizz 8, Kazaa and Leviathn possibly 9 (not sure though). No 10s yet.
btw... I'm a 4 on my scale. :)
-
I've seen him a couple of times and got really impressed.
He is very good... fights really well. He landed 17 in his G6 yesterday. Landed 10 without rearm in the G6 the other day. <3 Debrody.... good teacher too. :aok SA not as good as Bruv though, imho, but few are.

You probably weren't around when FX1 played. IIRC he was a butcher in the 16.
