Disclaimer: I don't care what plane you fly. I too fly the spit.

Just so you know. That Spit is a combat vet from WW2 and is painted in it's wartime colors. The AH Spit 9 default skin is from that Spit.
-
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rite on!

Seriously, why would someone mock some of the bravest men in history? Their contribution to human history and the testimony of their sacrifice to the indomitable human spirit is unparalleled and should only be held in the highest regard and treated with the utmost respect and demeanor.
Gah.

:rofl

I don't see anything wrong with having some fun with history. Comedy has to have an element of political incorrectness or its not funny. If I thought it was genuinely mean spirited thats another matter but I don't see it there. Its ok to have some fun at national heroes and icons. Its meant as a laugh not as a serious commentary on WW2 veterans. I bet almost every one of the folks in that skit has lost a family member in either WW1 or WW2 and im sure on November 11th every year they are genuinely moved by their sacrifices.
Like Patton has never been spoofed? George Washington? Churchill? David Crocket? there have been a ton of comedys about war(s) and heroes in film, TV and other mediums. It's what makes us who we are.
Leave the folks with zero humor to hide in their caves.

Oh damn, that's funny! :lol

I understand your point Bat. But I'd tell you from hanging around the Spit drivers from 41 squadron back in the 80s, that they'd have laughed their tails off watching that. Some of the silly things they did to relieve the stress of ops would put this video to shame :)
One of the funnier stories that came up more then once was the stolen wheel chairs being raced around a certain castle.
When I was at the reunion in 1985 I'd brought the photos I'd collected over the years of different pilots just to see if I could get some memories. This particular guy, a DFC winner was best remembered for his habit of walking up to other pilots and telling them to:
"pull my finger" Yes your first thought of what happened then is the correct one :)

It's a British thing SunBat, to not take oneself too seriously. British humour of course was the second most contributory factor to the defeat of Germany in the Second World War who had no sense of humour at all at the time. The first factor was the Spitfire, obviously.
But thanks for the consideration and compliment :salute

How does that Monty python skit go about the funniest joke of all times? I remember them reading it to German soldiers and having them laugh to death.
