Seriously, why would someone mock some of the bravest men in history?  Their contribution to human history and the testimony of their sacrifice to the indomitable human spirit is unparalleled and should only be held in the highest regard and treated with the utmost respect and demeanor.

Gah.

I didn't see it as mocking them, just having fun.

It was seriously silly and funny

I understand your point Bat.  But I'd tell you from hanging around the Spit drivers from 41 squadron back in the 80s, that they'd have laughed their tails off watching that.  Some of the silly things they did to relieve the stress of ops would put this video to shame :)

One of the funnier stories that came up more then once was the stolen wheel chairs being raced around a certain castle.

When I was at the reunion in 1985 I'd brought the photos I'd collected over the years of different pilots just to see if I could get some memories.  This particular guy, a DFC winner was best remembered for his habit of walking up to other pilots and telling them to:

"pull my finger"  Yes your first thought of what happened then is the correct one :)

It's a British thing SunBat, to not take oneself too seriously. British humour of course was the second most contributory factor to the defeat of Germany in the Second World War who had no sense of humour at all at the time. The first factor was the Spitfire, obviously.

But thanks for the consideration and compliment  :salute

How does that Monty python skit go about the funniest joke of all times? I remember them reading it to German soldiers and having them laugh to death.

horrible histories is a great tv program for kids and if it encourages them to learn about the actual feats then they all get a big + 1 from me.
