Meet my new "Baby". '06 F350 XLT 4x4, 6.0 Powerstroke that's been "chipped" & "bulletproofed". Immaculate interior and a few minor dings outside. B&W "Flip hitch" and check out that beefy bumper!
It does need tires, especially on the front. Other than that I'm ready to hotshot! :aok
-
Hell yea man! Thats a nice toy you got their! Looks mean! Congrats!!
-
That looks mean and business-like.
I sure hope it's not a city commute daily driver like I see all over Texas... Moms driving trucks like that out shopping as a daily driver from the burbs to the mall and back, shiny hitch that's never been hooked up to anything heavier than a jetski, big plastic testicles hanging down under the hitch as they drive to Macy's for a rough day in the cosmetics department. Or wanna-be rhinestone cowboys who have never ridden a horse in their life and who wouldn't dream of wearing their shiny boots anywhere they might get actual DIRT on them. Burbs to their middle-management white collar job and back, but they must be real texas men because just look at that TRUCK!
I want to see the truck in an "action shot" doing some real work, after it gets scratched up a bit. Then it's ok :)
-
Not to worry eagl, it's a work truck. I'm going to be pulling a gooseneck flatbed hauling oilfield equipment. $1.50 a mile loaded and empty.
My Bro-inlaw has more hotshot work than he can handle and I'm going to pick up the slack.
-
Great looking truck RPM

I was driving to the airport the other day and got caught behind this guy

Every single time we hit a stop light or stop sign and he would stop, and then floor it so the big cloud of smoke would come out.

Mom's jeep could do 0-60 faster :D

Not bad. The 5.7 is a good engine. Difference is add 12,000 lbs and try it. :devil

:rofl Yeah I don't think I could do much with much more added weight. Plus I don't believe her car is armored either :lol Whats the mileage on that beast?!
-
Not sure. I filled it up tonight for the 1st time, but they are rumored to get around 14 - 18, YMMV. My old 7.3 got 8 - 12 and it never did a burnout in it's life. :frown:
-
I wish my 5.4 would get 14-18. I've been averaging about 11mpg. :cry

What a pain in the wallet! I think my truck gets around 20, I haven't had to fill up in months and I usually drive it about 4 times a week to get around

"Bulletproof" is a term used by Powerstroke owners referring to upgraded oil cooler, EGR and a few other parts.

Now I've seen it all... An SUV owner bragging about drag racing jeeps. :x
If you want to go fast why not just buy a fast car? Every car I've ever owned would leave that X5 in the dust, including the 1980 baby blue ford fairmont station wagon I learned how to drive in and sold for $500 after 230,000 miles. And my brother's ancient bronco would leave that X5 "in the dust" on any trail worth driving. So would his friend's super reliable early-year toyota truck, simply because it weighed almost nothing and has locking diffs.
Bragging on an X5 outrunning a big truck... That's funny and kind of weird/sad. Why buy such a huge car if you care about beating people at stoplights? If driving faster than a jeep is important, you could have saved yourself a lot of money by buying a chevy sedan or maybe even a subaru of some sort, if you really wanted AWD.
Not that the X5 isn't a nice, if huge, car, but opening your part of the discussion by bragging how it is faster on pavement than a jeep is pretty dang funny.

How much you owe on that super fast X5? Or is it a lease?

Let's hook a 14,000lb trailer to each of us and see who wins. :devil

Lighten up, Francis, I was joking! :rofl :rofl If I was really interested in drag racing, I would kept my '99 Vette I sold last year, it made over 550 at the rear wheels.

You'd be a little surprised by the 4.6is.... it's not a regular X5, the 'is' designation is basically the "M" package for X5's..... 350 hp AWD.... 1/4 mile times are roughly equal to what my old 1990 Corvette was capable of from the factory. Not blinding fast by today's sports car standards, but no slouch either for a family hauler and boat puller.

Never said anything about a truck. :bhead
Pay attention. I was joking, taking a poke at someone else who made a comment about a supposedly fast Jeep. :rofl
Besides.... drag racing? pfffffft. That's for people who don't know how to drive but can throw a lot of $$$$ at their car to make it faster instead of themselves. :old:
And no, it's not a lease. Both it and my 325i sedan are paid for. :neener:

What you do with guys in your mother's jeep is your business, but it will not involve me. :old:
Seriously, if you're interested in racing, look into the SCCA and start autocrossing in SOLO II. You'll learn a ton about car control and handling, then as experience and $$$ (mostly $$$) allow, work your way into track days, driving schools, and time trials. If you want to go wheel-to-wheel racing, SCCA and NASA offer low-budget racing in various classes. I raced in the NASA East Coast Honda Challenge Series, and SCCA in Improved Touring and the Atlanta Region Pro-IT series, first in an Acura Integra, then later in a Honda CRX Si, and my race car, trailer, and all my spares didn't even run $5K. Getting to and from the track, hotels, food, consumables (tires, brake pads, fuel, etc) were the major expense, but still, relative to other hobbies (I have friends who spent more playing golf or fishing than I spent on racing) it's pretty affordable. I always went the cheap route and camped at the track, and took all my food with me and grilled. I miss the Friday and Saturday night infield "activities" as much as I miss the actual racing. Usually involved beer, fire, and plenty of craziness. :rofl

If you are using a Jeep for drag-racing, you are doing it wrong.
Besides, bragging on your mother's Jeep detracts, rather than adds to, the cool factor.

There's a "Master Legend" joke there somewhere.
Just got back from my first run and didn't even take the trailer. Took a BOP (Blowout Preventer) from Decatur, Tx to New Iberia, La... $1000. Not bad for 16 hours. :airplane:
Just need about 15 more of those and I'll break even.
