What would it take to have this thought brought too practical?
Having a "non" moveable portion of the screen for user placement. Basicly the gauges on a 4 monitor screen setup. The standard three for view and a fourth center low that would not move with the other three used for view. Also using a touch screen computer monitor for changing the things on the screen to some degree.

What?

:headscratch:

I'd rather have gauges that start working again when you tap them.
-
The game code isn't written to allow exporting gauge information or a clickable cockpit.
-
So no touchscreen I can understand but how is it not possable to make the gauges "lock" or "stay" on a single screen? Would that just simply take someone to "outline" the cockpit interior and add a small function like the clipboard to the "outline" where it can be brought up and or minimized by the user at will and be placed where they want it.

How "up" are you on programming video games? :D
While I have no idea on how much trouble it would be to program this lets look at it from another angle. How much of an advantage would it be to have another screen with the gauges on it all the time as compared to NOT having one and having to switch your views to see your gauges? My guess is it would be a pretty big advantage over most players....like your self.... are just learning to switch, spot, and interpret those gauges. So someone who couldn't afford to have an extra monitor would be at a serious disadvantage.

Are you talking about building a simpit of some sort? Your original post is quite confusing. :salute

But the same advantages go into those that use a joystick with rudder pedals vs some with just a mouse and keyboard? I only ask not to create a "gap" from those that have and those that have not.
Yes I am a week and change into the game now and putting togther a "simpit". Not to "compete" with players on a "skillset" level but to make the game "feel" like im in the cockpit. Triple montors are great for "outside" the cockpit but having to loose sight of my enemy to see my airspeed makes me feel like im playing a game where in reality one would be able to see the gauges out of the corner of your eye. TrackIR just is not the answer for what "feels" right about a "static display" of flight instrumentation.
Eighter way its just a question... If I could decompile the code and work something up I would but I am not on that level.

Yes sir I am building a simpit but I am pretty sure 85% or more of the players use a tripple mon set up even if they do not have a simpit.

I doubt that, I'd bet there were more people flying with laptops than there is with triple monitors.

Single 19" widescreen here.

I think it's more like 85% of the players using a single monitor setup. Ever noticed how many players are concerned with recent and future updates and their ability to get FPS high enough to continue playing? Whoever can't afford a 'decent' CPU and GPU will certainly not spend his money for the biggest luxury of them all, a triple monitor setup. (Apart from money, in many cases it's also a matter of having not enough room for 3 screens)
-
Laptops and single monitors... DoH!
Makes me question my addiction to this game... So what I am asking would not be for "en masses" then from what I gather rather the small few that take the game to that level. Rgr that!

Pit builders have made the same request many times. It's a game play decision by HTC that's unlikely to change. It's easy enough to glance at instruments by setting the KP 8 key to look at the dash.
If you had a separate monitor for instruments you wouldn't want the cockpit repeated in your forward view. Some sims allow a forward view not blocked by your aircraft but this would not give realistic situational awareness limits to the pilot so it's not an option in Aces High.

Your probably looking for something like this to feed your obssesion :)

We'd have to buy that for Hitech before it would work with Aces High. :lol

:aok
Perv why you tease me with such beauty. In fact a replica simpit is started. I am still tossing up the idea of doing the Lancaster for my pit. I will start a post once all the parts are in my livingroom.

I always wondered if building a proper simpit would be possible. by that I mean having a fixed view of 360deg FOV and projecting it onto the inside of a sphere surrounding the simpit (assuming you could find a high res projector) :headscratch:
seems strange to be in a realistic simpit where you look out the front screen and see the view behing you ...

Find a local university, get employed as a domestic engineer in the Astronomy department, then 'borrow' the planetarium during off-hours. :devil

RTholmes,
Yes you can but getting your hands on a 360° parabolic [no i kant splee] lense... well lets say not happin' also you would need a 10,000 dollar 1080p Projector.....

I think I would just have headaches everytime I got into that thing.

yeah cause the military came out with glass cockpits in the what 1990's yeah lets put them in a game about the 1940's

in about 10 years that could be possible. or you can just get them headsets that have screens and you can look in any direction.

I'll bet you could mount a projector to the back of your seat pointing strait up with a mirror assembly over your head slaved to a trackIR set-up to have the mirror reflect the projection to which ever way you are looking to get the views to show in the right areas in side a globe like that.
