I know the current design is old, but I am not sure I like what Ford may do to the Mustang...

I sure don't see that happening. Although they sure did mess up the rear end this last go round.

Although it looks to me like they're trying to channel Aston Martin.

Ick, maybe they'll rename that car the Probe. :devil

The Americans usually design a car with the help of a 9 year old using a crayola :old:
This car though looks very nice, was it designed by a european?

I really like it.

I like the looks, but it just doesn't strike me as a Mustang.

Nothing I see it that picture screams "Mustang" to me. IMO, each new generation body should carry over some recognizable feature of it's blood lines(at least when it comes to sports/muscle cars). I just am not seeing it. :noid

Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A little too beamer-ish imho, but I like to see ford trying something new.

If you want a jag or an Aston Martin go buy one. Don't turn the mustang into one....

They've made bigger mistakes...

The probe was supposed to replace the mustang. And in many ways was a better and sportier car.
-
You guys just noticing the Jag- Aston influence in Fords? :huh
-
Yassir .. the designers seem to think we all want cars influenced by rice burners or wannabe's.
I'll take mine straight up retro with stylying features that scream the Marque loud and clear mk thx.
None of this 'Is that a new Datsun?' crap.
-Frank aka GE
(Make it a damn MUSTANG/Vette/Challenger etc .. or get someone else to buy it)

Imagine a Forum getting bent out of shape over a car concept that has aboslutely nothing to do with the Mustang?
Those pictures are of the 2015 EVOs coupe.....
Here are the 2015 Mustang photos....

As far as the Aston Martin/Ford thing. It is very apparent that none of you understand the work of J Mays...

That hideous piece of eurotrash in the first post actually looks better than the 2015 one linked above.
As a lifelong fan of the Mustang, Ford is really starting to turn me off with the changes of this current and the proposed next models. I don't care how many horses they can squeeze under the hood- I wouldn't buy any of them, they look horrible.

Easy tiger. As a life long Mustang fan you must LOVE the current itteration as is traws from it's classic heritage. The next Mustang continues to draw on it's classic heritage, in a lower, wider way. There are no bigger Mustang enthusiasts than those that wrok on the Mustang program at Ford. by all accounts, they LOVE the new car.
Be patient....
..and please refrain from disparaging posts and images about the brand if your truly a fan. :salute

The current Mustangs look like they put a Running Pony on a rejected design for another M3.

ON ONE OF the ford forums, i think i'd read something about them deciding that it's time to move forward, with a new design, rather than trying to keep the old cues in the design.
it's not a bad looking car, but the interior would have to be top notch, and performance would have to be out of this world for me to consider that.

and with that running pony, they easily pummel an m3. :devil

Really? the current car looks like, and was inspired by the 1970 Fastback. Perhaps BMW copied the Mustang when it designed it's M3. :aok
-
The current mustang styling is based on the Aston V8 vantage of over a decade ago because it looks cool.
The V8 vantage styling was based on the early mustang fastbacks because it looks cool.
We have come full circle.
Maybe ford should finally realize that the mustang will sell regardless of it's looks as long as they are fast and easily modded for more speed.
They sure sold a lot of the generation that looks like a scaled up 1990 toyota celica and it seems as out of place in the mustang timeline as the mustang II.
As long as ford keeps some bit of similarity to the original theme, then it should look fine for generations to come.

i tend to think it looks more like a 67/68 fastback.

The currently produced Mustang owes its heritage to the 1969 Fastback, according to Ford.

that would make it the same as a 70. 69/70's only had minor styling changes.

This was true for the 2010 body style change which ran through 2012. The 2013 which is now onsale Evolves the design with que's that are more from the '70 version, note the corner lights are outside the headlamps, and the concave tail light bezels set into a flush rear fascia. The '69 had a concave fascia with flush lights. Retained from the '69 is the Four headlight set up, although this is only on the GT. Everyone thinks the Four lights looks more agressive, so they now differenciate the GT from the base car. The body colored and, more pronounced grill surround, are from the previous GT500. :salute

Correct. I was just spouting off what the Ford design group had said what was used for the inspiration.

This one is based on the '82 after going through a narrow alley.
