Rooks and Nits should jump to the Bish side so as to screw the ENY up so bad they'd only have jeeps to fly. :devil :bolt:

Bish have over 25% Nits, ROOKS better keep the engines warm. See you in about 3-1/2 hours. :airplane:
-
Disappointed, the ROOKS had lots of warning (the board 3 hours/200 also), The take off time, the target and very little fight. Took 222 and ran 2 other missions before they caught on. Thanks goes out to all the bish that joined we had about 60 bish in the mission and a 100 plane lanc raid afterwards.
-
Mass hordes steamrolling were one reason why I quit AH. "nice" to see it's still living strong. :bolt:

Yup, and these guys think they are doing the community a favor by running these kinds of missions.
Ya want to do ME a favor? Take the same group and hit 5 bases at once! If you capture more than 2 of them in "time to target +15 minutes" I would be impressed. Not that your out to impress me, but any bunch that big can take a base.
-

all 3 country steamroll doesnt make it right or wrong
adopt over come,go where you can find a good fight,Log on at night take undefended bases from the bish then talk about how you can take bases with 3 guys.
-
Operation BOZO was as effective as any other mindless horde. 222 was recaptured in short order, nullifying the efforts of near 50 Bishops.
Safety in numbers for the fish, while the sharks fed.

Yeah, all you losers that had fun are pathetic. Don't you know there is a war to be won?
How dare you enjoy yourselves when you're not playing the way Fug wants, or Ripley wants even though he doesn't play anymore.
Same whine, different day................carry on :salute
-
lmao Zoney and all you "winnerz"
I play for air combat. nuff said.
I remember when 7 of those "war winnerz" in ponies, spits, hurries, couldnt kill my deck G6. They all died in 3 mins. And im far from being good.
:neener: haha
-
I actually missed the mission DeBrody, I had to work a bit late. My point, which you missed, is the players that participated did it to have some fun.
But hey, thanks AGAIN for reminding us all how awesome you thought you were when you used to play. Can you find nothing else to do but grief
some folks in a game that you don't play anymore ? How can we miss you if you won't go away.
-
i looked at the second mission before it launched just to see how ridiculous.. 31 sets of lancs i saw, for a vbase. :rofl
i can understand most things people consider fun in the game, but what is fun with that? just looking out the windows and seeing green icons? the non stop idiotic chatter on range? dropping on the same target as 6 other people?
yeah fun stuff!
-
Aww Zoney dont be bitter and dont want to miss me. Im a lost soul, dont pray for me :aok
Look man it wasnt me starting the "100 of us took a vbase, look at us how awesome we are" game.
Anyway how can you know if i wont be back tomorrow only to find a horde in a proper aircraft to win a 100v1 and poop into their "fun"?
:aok
-
I think it was cool they told every one about it....NO I would not have joined it, but certainly If I remembered I would have tried to fight against it..... :aok
it is similar to FSO ....it lets us imagine what it was like for the real guys.....only slightly
-
Your horde lost 222 10 minutes after you took it.............
Rooks win
I think you miss the point of just having fun in missions. It matters not that you captured it back after the fact. We captured the base per what we set out to do. If you chose to recapture after we left thats up to you. :headscratch:

Yep and the whine only goes on and on Zoney. It too easy for em to complain than up effective strat against. Esp when it advertised on 200ch well before hand. Ole Fugitive holds utter distain for effectivly run missions. The "Daddy, Daddy, they not playin like I want them too" syndrome. I mean come on now if we all just played the way they wanted us too....it would be rainbows and butterflies. :rofl

I wasn't near that fight....it obviously was important to you since you filled 200 for 5 minutes with retarded bragging after taking the base....
-
Man, there are just hatters in here sometimes. 1. BOLO was fun for me, squaddies, and the enemy too 2. People bitttch about hordes and no time to prep a defense, not going to fly here, it was on 200,and the boards (all week & 3-1/2 hours on 200). 3. The Bish had fun and it wasn't about base taking because THERE WERE NO FLIPPING BOMBERS in BOLO *1st mission, the ideal was to get the ROOKS to chase our phantom bombers and get into a DOGFIGHT but the ROOKS stayed on the couch. We laughed our butttz off on the follow up lanc raid. Now I know why many guys quit coming to the boards, it is more about people hating, trolling and not the comradeship in this game or respect for one another. Look at most posts, they are in effect back bitting other players style or tactics.

Well the Rooks just won the war. The cries of congratulations hording rooks were deafening...... and it was boring as all heck. It was sooooooo much fun being a rook tonight, I got perk points! wooo WHOOOO!
The point is it isn't fun in a large gang. watermelon chatting with your friends, ya thats fun, but you might as well just hang out on Facebook  If you want to fly for 20-30 minutes only to land because the other 25 guys whipped everything out, why not fly Xplane from MS.
The problem is people have nothing to do IN hordes, and don't bother to fight against hordes.... see your mega fun mission  and you call this fun? I think you sat too close to a few too many mortars.
-
why not fly Xplane from MS.
I think you sat too close to a few too many mortars.
As always you are the voice of reason...
1. You yourself can always feel free to leave the game and find another one if you find people not playing the way you want.
2. Since you have never been in combat you will never know what it is like to be around incoming mortar fire. Who are you to make a comment like that?
You stay classy Fugitive.

Aye, i got it.
Some players fly to actually find some air combat in an air combat simulation game, even worse, they paid for it and want to get what they paid for. They are the strangers.
Something went horribly wrong here.

The only problem here is your vast range of "Vanity" thinking that "Your" opinion ie definition of "Fun" should apply to everyone in game, and im sorry but it does not and has not for quite some time. Furthermore if it was not fun to roll in organized missions noone would join em in the first place.
And your comment about me setting too close to mortars shows your stupidity and lack of respect for service members in general not just myself. As a person who was injured by an IED I am saddened at your comments and the fact that you feel the need to go there because of your lack the ability to convince the world of AH that missions are a bad thing. :uhoh

Fugitive cant help it...the boy spends more time trolling BBS than he does playing game. He too worried about how many 'Post counts people have compared to him', ie you should read some of his posts. He actually thinks that his post count on here = Knowledge. When in reality all it does is show EGO, and Vanity.

Define : con·de·scend·ing
Showing or implying a usually patronizing descent from feeling of superiority
Define : Vanity
The excessive belief in one's own abilities or attractiveness to others.
Best part is Fugitive wont deny it if you ask him. He is the Know all....... :rofl
-
I'd like to commend you guys for setting up the mission and allowing for defense to be mounted. Had I been available, I would have made the attempt to intercept. Announcing your intentions here and 200 is the fundamental difference between a mission (wants to fight) and a horde (fight avoidance).
:salute I look forward to future interceptions.

naw I just make them laugh, my aim is so horrible as a zoomer I just miss or collide, and as a turner, well you can only avoid the HOs so long before they knock ya down.
I just find it funny that there are still so many people that think they are good because they can take a base with 25-30 guys. One guy even posted a youtube video of 30+ SETS of lancs going NOE to hit a V base like he was proud of this. I just didn't think THIS was the kind of game HTC was trying to put out.
These players think that 25-30 players rolling over a base is a "coordinated, or organized" attack. LOL!!! It's a horde of locust that leaves nothing behind

We need a "sarcasm" emoticon
I couldn't care less about perks, I have thousands of them but almost never fly perk planes. Fighting in hordes or against hordes isn't fighting. In the horde very few show up to defend, and fighting against a horde isn't fighting as most of the time all you do is dive in a pick a few before you have 15 guys chasing you yelling "mine!, mine!, mine!".

The pure absurdity of this statement made me cringe. Literally.

And still yet you keep playing a game where now days hordes, ho's, alt monkey pickers etc etc are the norm and you want people to play your way or the hi-way. So if we must play your way lets do away with base takes, win the war, perks, score, rank, never dieing in our funny cartoon planes and see what we have. I don't know about anyone else but if I see a large dar bar I will up to FIGHT it and most of the time get my rear handed to me on a platter, do I care...nope....did I have fun......most likely. You are always saying there is no fighting in this game, I sometimes wonder what game your playing cuz everytime I log on I see more fights than I may want to :salute
BTW: You also say bish horde this, bish horde that......as I said before look at your own side and try stopping them before you try and stop others

WOW!!! this post is a pile of rubbish.
1, I have NEVER said play my way of the highway.
2, I have NEVER said base capture and winning the war is bad or should be done away with in ANY form.
You guys are blind to what other write if it isn't along the lines of what YOU think the game play should be. The way the game is played now is the lowest common denominator of what is available to play. It's like playing football on a field that is 20 yards long, like playing checkers with chess pieces, playing baseball with a T ball pole and saying anything that falls in the outfield is a home run.
Yes I still play, and yes I HAVE FUN ! If I didn't I would have stopped my payments to HTC a long time ago. Yes I up to defend against a horde..... if the NOE is reported before I'm already up  Yes I shoot at the lemmings over and over getting my kills and dieing horrible deaths. Almost every attack is predictable, and the only real counter is numbers.
As for the Rook horde that won the war yesterday, there isn't much left I can do. Reporting the NOEs to the other side has been deemed "unacceptable play" by HTC and is punishable offense, and the lemmings on the Rooks are just as bad as the Bish and Knights lemmings. The game is now geared toward hordes rolling bases as fast as they can. Personally after the first 10-20 bases that "we" roll it gets pretty boring. Maybe for some of you it takes longer. I can't play games like WoW either.... push A,push A,push A, roll right, push A,push A, over and over again.
HTC can't make the game more complicated, more challenging. Why? Because he'll lose a significant part of his subscribers. Why don't more people hit the strat? Because it's too hard to figure what to hit first, why to hit it, or why it may be useful. If doesn't flatten the base so the horde can capture bases more quickly they won't bother with it.
I don't want to take away the base capture, but I'd like to see more strategy involved.... for you lemmings, that means planning, timing of multiple attack wings launching from multiple bases, maybe even hitting more than one base at a time. But that takes skill, and practice to build that skill. Why bother with that if you can just bring 20-30 friends and just crush the opposition due to attrition, no skill required, just numbers.
You guys seem happy with hamburger, I'd like to have the steak back.
-
If you do a search for hordes in the general forums, you'll find complaints going back all the way to Sept 2001.
There has always been horde complaints in one form or another. I've been here since 2001 myself and I just don't remember
the nirvana days of no hordes alt monkeys and HOers. There has always been plenty to complain about. :D

I don't think anyone ever said there was a nirvana when there WASN'T any of those things, but do you remember those things to be less frequent? I do. Do you remember when certain squads ran ops there were more plans than "every one grab a cannon bid with bombs and run NOE!"? I do. Do you remember when there were high alt buff runs to the factories and HQ, as well as the intercept missions that launched and the many goons running supplys after they got through? I do.
What we play today is a much more watered down version of what we use to play.

In all of your complaining I think you have missed the fact that most of our missions are "Run" the way you say they are not being run. Assignments are tasked out to players, as well as gv assignments, bomber assignments etc on an individual basis. Not to mention lauched from diffrent bases to strike diffrent bases at same time.
Yet you "Choose" to make the assumption that simply because you see a mission at a base that it is a Hoard, and assign it as such by simply throwing your hands in the air and complaining as you do on here too.
The excuse that you "Cannot" find a fight does not hold up on here, that is a cop out.
If you cannnot find a fight you make one. Always plenty of fights too be had on AH. Moreover if you really believe its that bad, although its not, simply go to the DA to find these illusive fights that dont exsist in the MA. :aok

Lemmings......another AH term, wished I knew what it means cuz you used it 4 or more times in one post :bhead. So your saying (hope I get this right, would not want more RUBBISH) if a side plans, has timming of multiple attack wings from multiple bases and hitting more than 1 base this would not be a horde? Question...........how many players make a horde, 1,5,10,20,30, 50? If I PLAN a mission from multiple bases, lets say 3 bases with 10 players each that is 30 players..............that would not be a horde in your eyes? :salute

If you planned an attack with 30 players, 10 players going to 3 different bases - that would not be a horde, that would be a planned mission. If you take 30 players, take off from 3 bases and join up to attack a single base, that would be a horde. For the record, I was at both bases when this was done in the arena. There were over 40 P51's with a second wave of P47's - for a total of around 88 players - I offered to up to kill em all, but no one answered :D
Also for the record, Vet and Chewie are good guys - I was teasing them both during this raid (or whatever you want to call it) - and they were teasing me (and everyone else). Was it fun being jumped by that many planes - for the first couple of passes yep, after that, not so much. Yes, it was put on the boards and called on 200, but its still virtually impossible to defend against 88 planes, in a single or successive waves.
Meh, just a couple of random thoughts,

The game has not changed Fugi..YOU DID.
There was a time I'm sure Fugi used to join horde missions with the goal to reset the map. You then evolved as a player seeking a much better challenge.
Face it, this game has a huge learning curve and can be intimidating for the new guys. I didn't have the patience when I first signed on to seek help in the TA. I dove straight into the cauldron of the MAs. I bombed freindly feilds, dropped troops too low and on the feild got ridiculed a bit, and learned the hard way.
I came to terms by myself that joining hordes was just damn boring. I had to see for myself the map reset time after time after time to the point that there was no point and just didnt care. I could of quit the game at that point and some players do. I chose to find a much more challenging part of the game.
See for youself. Most players that cross the average 3 year threshold that were commonly joining the hordes are now fighting the fight for the most part. Horde squads although extremely annoying, dont last long, but quality squads do.
Let the kiddies play. They horde but who cares??. The more we scream, the further they come to terms to graduate their skills because all they hear is that you are trying to control how they play. They will eventually come to terms.

-If your prime focus is to attack by numbers, you are in a horde
-If you or any other player that joined the mission captures the feild with a full or almost full ammo/bomb loadout..you are in a horde.
-(See above) If you or someone else in the mission has no targets so they bomb or shoot fuel tanks..you are in a horde.
- If you have the attitude of " just defend then"..you are in a horde.
-If your mission gets busted and you cry..you WERE in a horde :P

We need a "sarcasm" emoticon
I couldn't care less about perks, I have thousands of them but almost never fly perk planes. Fighting in hordes or against hordes isn't fighting. In the horde very few show up to defend, and fighting against a horde isn't fighting as most of the time all you do is dive in a pick a few before you have 15 guys chasing you yelling "mine!, mine!, mine!".
this is where you are wrong....I do not BnZ I fly a KI84 get above the hoard by myself.......and make them come up to me,,,that is the tactic I shoot for, doesn't always happen, sometimes I get there and there is usual one guy above, sometime many more then that... :lol
but what ever man it is fun to have 10-15 guys all trying to get to you while you time your attacks at the right moment.......
far different then what you are thinking.....and incredibly fun :aok

Nah, I think you have managed to dig a hole deep enough that you can't see the top anymore. Nice try but you went beyond my expectations even for you in this thread.
Start running your searches, I don't believe I ever said that the old days were perfect. They were better, and missions were more fun because they were diverse. In the Mafia we had a couple dozen set missions. We had one guy who would spend all week working out a plan... lift off times, directions, waypoints, climb speeds, listing who what hit what and so on to run on squad night. It was almost like running in a scenario, but they happened every 30-45 minutes! Yes we had hordes, yes we had HOers and pickers, but not as many. So nights you'd get a few more than normal and a guy would get bent and post. We also had fewer people flying maybe that mattered, but the maps were only the small ones so the population was concentrated so maybe it didn't matter.

lemmings plural of lem·ming (Noun)
Noun:
1. A small, short-tailed, thickset rodent (Lemmus, Dicrostonyx, and other genera, family Muridae) found in the Arctic tundra. The Norway...
2.A person who unthinkingly joins a mass movement, esp. a headlong rush to destruction.
I think the bolded section covers lemmings well. Spliting 30 players over 3 bases spreads out the "horde". Now you have 3 fights at 3 base, no longer a horde. Yes with out so many people hitting one base you may no actually capture the base, but if you have some skill, and everyone does their part, 2 out of 3 might capture and your that much ahead in the game of capturing bases. Maybe 10-12 guys to one base as a diversion with no intention of capturing the base, but you hit two others a couple sectors away with an extra goon or 2 to make sure you capture the others.

Join them! LOL! at time I ran them! LOL!!
As some people have pointed out at other times in these discussions "extra people just join up, we don't have control over that". Thats where I learned how to take 2 bases at once and try for 3 sometimes. Ask SIK1 and Hap, both were in my squad and ran many a mission with us. While it was cool to grab the base, the most important thing was to keep the missions different, and fun. Could we roll bases? You bet! 11 in 3 hours I think was one of the better nights. NOE yup, we had the "Lightning Strike" mission. hvy 38's that flew with the goon until we hit the radar ring, WEP and grab, flatten the town, and kill anything that upped. Goon would roll in right behind us and capture. I think it was like 3 minutes for our best time from the dar ring. But we would never run it more than once a squad night, why? because it would get boring.
The game use to be about fighting, out witting your opponent, capturing bases and winning the war. We are down to the last two, watered down indeed.

Thats how most of my fight start out, but with my poor aim eventually there will be a couple that get above me and try to pick me as I work the two of three that climb to me then next thing I know I have that 15 or so guys screamin "Mine!" "Mine!" "Mine!" again! :rofl

What do you think your DAVID WALES :headscratch:

Allright, i'll go "Bustr" for now :lol My opinions:
What is a horde, who are the horders?
A mass of lemmings who dont want anything else but get the collective WTGs for flattening a vbase with 30 lanc sets and 40 ponies. What they do is NOT combat, and obviously NOT fun to the defenders. They practically do not contact with the enemy, or when they do, they either die in 3 seconds or run like a scared girl. They usually show up where there is no red darbar, no opposition expected. The horders try to avoid every contact with the enemy unless they are in a 5v1+ numerical advantage and usually dont know anything about a "rolling scissors" or an "overshoot". I dont like this kind of mentality cause i cant understand, what is fun in it, where do you get the quality reward for the money you have paid to HTC.
What is "working together"?
While it might have the same numbers of a horde, its completely different. The players involved are interested in finding opponents and they choose the quality interaction with them. They are running large-scale, sometimes even historical missions to a specific, announced target, so the defenders can get ready, can intercept them and can fight with them. In the past, the Mission of the Month stuff was this kind, a large, escorted, high-alt bomber raid. I found theese events to be just as much fun as an FSO. The players got both the "we are working together" feeling and the "quality interaction", on both sides.
Why i played this game?
To find action, air combat, push my aircraft to the limits, and do this with other players. I liked to give an opponent a chance, for example, i usually turnfought against spits in a 109. True, many times i went mad and upped a jet, but that was because i got tag-teamed multiple times by the horders. I found fun either in 1v1 duels, 5v5 death matches or 40v40 FSO/scenario high alt operations. Heck, thats how HTC is advertising their game, Air Combat Simulator... All i can do is to ASK You to play nice, play fair, dont brag like "haha we killed you in a 10v1, you sux ballz dude" or "woowoo we had 30 noe lancs to flatten that vbase, we rock!!" or "i fly at 30k in a pony, pick and run like the wind, im so awesome and yall sux muwhaha", cause thats obviously not good for anyone. Please...
Thank You.

I often use this tactic... to start :uhoh ... but almost always end up co-alt or below the horde.
Other times I just start below all of them :O to... umm... save time. :ahand
Either way it's fun. :joystick: :airplane: :x

Seem that this is what they did in this particular instance. They announced what they were doing here and 200. This is why I commended them in this thread. I have distaste for hordes almost as much as you but I do enjoy fighting against them if I can get a window to meet them before the get to their destination. Once they're on top of a base, there's not much that can be done except circle and hope a few will break off to fight ya. I ran into a spread out horde run a month or so ago. It was pure luck that I happened to be in a position to fight (tons of alt) while alone against the mass. I single handedly killed 6 of their bombers and 3 fighters while making my way to their base. When I got there I still had enough ammo to kill their ord but took a fuel hit from ack. I died with 9 in the bag and they still took my base. It was a great run in spite of not being able to land it.
Why was this still fun in spite of being hopelessly outnumbered with no chance to prevent them from their goal? I simply had a chance to fight. Typical hordes count on very little resistance till it's too late to defend. This is a flaw created by the close proximity of bases in the MA. It favors large attacking groups because they have the advantage of time to gather and launch as one whereas defenders are usually doing something else when the darbar shows up and have little reaction time. Then you have a few guys fighting insurmountable odds in numbers while starting from a position of disadvantage. Many don't bother to fight the hordes simply because it gets old seeing 7 guys on your six and go elsewhere. Then you have hordes passing each other as they each attack undefended territory.
So I commend these guys for announcing their intentions and giving the enemy a chance (however slim) to put up a fight. My only reccomendation is that they try some more challenging plane selections when the missions get deep (20+). Try thirty A20s or Stukas instead of lancs and maybe p40s or 109fs instead of p-51s.

I wonder what the Germans thought when they looked out at the water at Normady on the morning of the D-Day invasion. Seeing ships as far as the eye could see and looking up and seeing 100s upon 100s of C47s.
I wonder what they thought watching 1000s of Allied bombers and fighters flying over Berlin in 45'.
Then there was Japan...... "ahh no worries, it's just one B29"
My suggestion to my fellow squaddie TheFugitive, we should start recruiting guys into the 39th to meet the locus horde head on....or start spending our perk points on B29s. :D :bolt:

Me and 3 other guys went into A1 with a full red dar bar, flying in at 12K last night and shut down everything but the bomber hangers. That's a whole lot more fun and rewarding then doing the same thing with 50 lancs with escort, in my opinion.
I gave up fighting with the big mission groupies over this point a while back. I'll continue to enjoy my game and you'll continue to enjoy yours. The only difference is when I see your 10 or 15 sets of bombers coming to take my base, I'll be laughing at you, but when me and my 3 wingmen come take your base, more then likely you'll be pissed. :devil :neener:
You know what would be really cool Chewie? Do one of these big missions with all German or Japanese bombers and escort. Leave the big guns in the hanger and I guarantee you guys will be grinning from ear to ear when it's over..... win or lose. :old:
