Nice Impala, love it under the hood, but I like them a bit more classic, polished and refined than stripped and clean. Looks like the bidders/buyers might too, so far... unfortunate, because I agree that car looks like it was done right (and legal).

to be honest, i like to see cars like that more than any mustang or camaro.......anyone can do a mustang or camaro.....not many will do something like a nova or impala, or any of the other big cars. i'd LOVE to see that thing run. but not enough to buy it, lol

That's kinda my implication, if I had the opportunity, money and interest into doing a '66 Impala to my tastes, I most eagerly would (and it wouldn't be a stripped down legal-or-not racer, not that I don't like them, but I have no interest in having one in my garage someday).
Personaly, money and time opportunities lacking at the moment, I'd want to restore a 67-ish or 70.5 (hey, a man can dream) Falcon someday, stripped down, upgunned and clean under the hood, but sticking with a mostly classic inside and exterior.

Chevy II :aok

for me, it'd be a lightweight galaxy look-alike, or a 67 fairlane.
-
I like the ZA fairlanes but these are the ducks guts.
