Yes, Kates did attack as level bombers, in formation.. So the option should be there..

I agree %100.  Same goes for the TBM as well.   :aok

The ability to let loose the dog of war from a carrier group would be even that much more fun!!!   :D

B6N, J2M, D4Y, B7A, Ki-43, Ki-44. All would be good additions.

But no formations from carriers, IMO.

USS Arizona went BOOM, Sunk by a "Vic" of Kate level bombers..
Launched from a Carrier.. Hmmmm?

Not to mention, when the IJN Carrier Strike Force, rampaged across
the Pacific and Indian oceans.. Kate did major duty as level bombers!

Issue is, where are you going to fit your drones on the flight deck? I doubt Hitech would be too enthusiastic about having drones start out occupying the same space as the lead aircraft.

i think they already are questionable, from full airfields.. formations start on hills, take off thru grasss and taxiways, will fly in front of you while landing, they warp on maneuvering, etc. etc.

+1 for formations of tbm's and b5n's.

it might reward the weirdo in the formation of tbm's to torpedo a cv, instead of the typical b26's or lancs  that usually bomb a cv??

Well, as kvuo75 already said.. Plane formations do plenty of weird stuff already, even from land bases..
Do ya think they really acted that way taking off??? Of course not..
So what diff would it make for Kates on a CV deck.. Same O Same O...

Besides, multiple uppers on a carrier deck overlap anyway.. On a busy CV, 10 planes in one!
People have asked for realistic runway and flight deck procedures, people don't want it, too much trouble..

Only problem is that its akin to saying "well, some planes already carry unhistorical loadouts, lets let all of them do it".

I just doubt HTC would be in favor of intentionally increasing the unrealistic aspects of the game.

Have the third plane be where the it is now normaly and the others out ahead.....

Could work, depending on the weights in question.

I'd rather not have a plane loaded to the point of requiring a, say, 400ft roll, and taking off in say 320ft.

Not sure the B5N or TBM-3 can be loaded heavy enough to make takeoff impossible if they were far enough forward to make room for two aircraft behind them.  They are, particularly the B5N, quite flyable at low speeds.

Gotta figure too, that the Launch drill had the whole rear 1/2 of the flight deck packed with planes waiting their turn..
So the planes only used 1/2 or so of the deck for takoff roll..

+1+1+1

And not just for level bombing either. The formation system really needs a overhaul anyways imho. Level bombers formations seem to be able to do a lot of manoevering without losing a plane. This needs to be tightened.

Also implemenetation of formations on light/dive bombers (like Ju87, D3A, B5N etc.)will see their use increased and give people more targets to shoot down. So everyones happy!  :lol

As mentioned earlier might even just make torpedo bombing in them actually worth while.
