I have a question of lag. After much reading on this, I'm still confused.
Example: Player A is on a ho collision with player B. Neither player fires a shot, but a collision occurs. One player will be awarded the 'kill', while the other will go down in flames.
So that's depicting that two players cannot accurately occupy the same space. Now if that's the case, how is the following possible?
Player A and B are now flying on the same country. Player B joins player A as a gunner. They are now sharing the same point & time.

The answer is simple:
They don't.

Not much of an answer.
Thanks for clearing things up though.

hehehehe...i like that answer.
coogan, in very general terms, if they were both logged directly into the server instead of via remote connections, then what you think should be the case very well would be. but, what you're missing is where player a has a connection rate of 100ms and player b has a connection rate of 65ms...they cannot truly occupy the same time/space on the server because there is a 165ms separation between them. in your collision scenario, whichever system registers a pilot kill first, is the one that will "go down in flames" and the other player will be awarded a kill.

I agree Gryene's, but if the same two players are now sharing a B-17 and there's a con D200 on their 6, wouldn't they both see the same con in the same position?

No, because they are not in the same positions themselves (though, depending on circumstances the percieved differences can be quite small at times).
The gunner and the bomber pilot do nor really share the same plane, it only looks like that. The same laws and rules of lag and AH apply in this case as in any collision.
On the bomber's pilot's screen the bomber is at a certain point A, while the 'same' bomber will be at a point B (slightly) behind that point A. So gunner and pilot are effectively occupying different places at the same time.

The only time a player will be awarded a kill on a collision is, using your example, 1) Player A damaged Player B prior to the collision 2) Player A fired and hit Player B immediately before the collision or 3) Player B was killed before Player A and Player A was still within proxy range of Player B when he died.

Absolutely astonished no one mentioned player C.
He shot player A and player B while they looked lovingly into eachother's eyes.

something i find very irritating is when you kill one buffs , one or both of the other buff(s) warp , making collision almost impossible to avoid.
if this has to do with lag or something else , I do not know , but it should not be this way.

I told my wife that was 6 inches...
Anyway. Have you ever seen a plane on a CV hanging over the water? < = lag too...

If not for the metric system, some folks wouldn't even be in competition...

I hate flying against people with bad lag, the last thread I commented on of this subject got me put in the HTCBBS prison. I wont go back. :bolt:
