first ask them to wash your car. if they refuse point a taser then "claim it fired accidentally".
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/lawsuit-alleges-police-officer-tasered-10-old-school-152530178.html
now I am not talking crap about good cops. this one made a big mistake that is for sure. but out of curiosity what if regular joe smith would have done the same thing. what would have happened?
semp

the same thing would happen. if you point a gun at someone and...., you are responsible. you can look at it how ever you want, but the fact remains, "you shot the kid".
should the kid win the lawsuit? yes, all costs and damages must be paid for per the request of the victim.
-
Well I guess that R.D. should "accidentally" take possession of all of Webb's asset's as well as his pension.
shamus
-
That's assault. He should have known better than to point his taser at that kid.
-
Next career day at my local school I'm going to point a Claymore at the kiddies. My vehicle shall be spotless!

I call bs on this story, just like all the other anti LEO posts on the internet. IF the story is true as told, then the smartmouth kid learnt a valuable lesson that a lot of people sorely need. If a police officer asks/tells you to do something, you should comply.

what exactly was the lesson the kid learned? to be afraid of the police? it was career day and I am pretty sure the cop wasnt recruiting for the local carwash. would you wash a police car if they ask you and be ok with being tazed if you said no? the kid was less than 100 lbs and he was at school. dude the officer screwed up, there's no excuse for that police officer as he was suspended. I hope he gets fired. I know the officer meant it as a joke but man you think he should be the one who knows that you cant point a weapon at anybody unless you going to use it.
you claiming that the story is not true is just being delusional, it was all over the tv.

On the internet and all over tv? must be true then. :O

Why? because i don't trust anything I read? maybe thats it. Any old hack can write and say something has happened, the clueless masses believe it all.

It's doesn't matter if the story is true or not... You just said a kid deserved to be tased by a police officer for refusing to wash his car...
Why should I do something just because a police officer said to. They are here to "serve and protect" me, not make me serve them and then injury me...
-
If it was a deliberate dishcharge (or there is any truth at all, which I doubt) and I was to speculate on the matter, the Leo sure as heck wouldnt have shot a kid unprovoked. No way. The kid would likely have shot his mouth off, and provoked a situation. These reports are written to stir trouble. There have been 2 cases in the UK news recently, 1 involved an 'innocent' bystander who was roughed up. Turned out he was drunk and abusive. I hear about so many of these stories, they are never what they seem after investigation.
-
There's no such thing as an accidental discharge. There is however one called the negligent discharge. Like it or not the officer did something negligent to hurt the kid.

we arent talking about the 2 drunks in the uk. we are talking about a kid who jockingly said no to wash a police car and the officer was dumb enough to pull his tazer as a joke and it "accidentally" fired when he pressed the trigger.

My drunk example wasnt a comparision between the seriousness of the supposed incidents, I was drawing a comparison between the bias and bad reporting of the story. I totally stand by the fact that if a kid said a polite no, there is no way he would get deliberately shocked. These stories are all about sensationalism and rabble rousing before truth.

even if a kid said no with an attitude, it was still career day and a police officer has no business forcing somebody to wash his car. otherwise I can just get my gun go outside and force the neighbor kids to wash mine. after all what is the difference? oh yeah, i would be charged with assault with a deadly weapon. after all what would my defense be "they gave me lip"

I agree what that guy said was ridiculous, but the cops have no legal duty to protect citizens. The whole taser thing bothers me though. Tasers were introduced as an alternative to deadly force but now it seems a whole lot of cops use them as an alternative to breaking a sweat and getting their hands dirty. Obviously tasering an old lady thats not complying and tasering a kid cuz he threatened you with a stick is disgusting, but I'd go as far to say tasering some guy thats resisting when there's nine cops kneeling on him is just as pathetic.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmByfTKKUV4
This is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. The guy is laying on the ground with five cops standing around him and they still feel a need to taser him not to mention pepper spraying the mom. If five guys can't physically subdue one averaged sized man maybe it's time to start looking for a new job...

I don't understand....it is there job to "protect and serve" they most certainly have to protect the citizens, how can you say otherwise.(thats not to say I think you should think they are going to, you need to protect yourself)
...... this is just one of many topics that I should not partake in.......I am very opinionated and...the way people are blinded and actually believe that it is a privilege to drive on OUR roads....cops don't "have to" protect the citizens....its okay that a senate member makes 200K a year....a X president gets paid 400K for the rest of his life and has secret service protection.......these type of thoughts just get me........ehhhhh cant describe it

That statement is wrong. What is true that by the nature of their job, seldom is a police officer available to protect someone piror to a crime taking place, however, there are a number of instances on record where police have protected citizens. a good example is when a husband/wife goes looking for someone to kill their wife/husband only to discover at the time of their arrest that they have been talking to and trying to hire an undercover police officer. Or when a police officer stops a speeder, he's protecting everyone except the speeder, right. If a police officer witnesses a crime, domestic violence, it is their legal duty to make an arrest.

If Joe Blow did it, likely wouldn't have been nearly so widely covered by media.
I don't know why, but for some reason, attaching an individual's screw-up to the institution is 'in' lately.
Now just a personal opinion here, but I feel like we owe them our respect, regardless of if we've had a bad incounter with a bad individual. I feel like disrespecting a uniformed police officer should be a public offense. And I feel society should be less tolerant of stupidity and put greater preasure on people to conform to social norms.
It seems that the bar has been lowered for society, and that our stadards are degrading. Now not that I've looked extremely closely into this, and I very well might be wrong, but it seems to me that this kind of started when society tolerated hippies, instead of cracking down on them.

Wow....just wow.

Wow....just wow.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying its a crime to be different, or to question government's actions.
But my point is that you still have to pay attention in school, respect military veterns, acknowledge and respect the institution even if you don't like it, and be a fuctioning member of society.
I have absolutely zero tolerance for my stupid peers who go through 12 different boyfriends/girlfriends a year, and complain about how mean men are, or how all girls are sluts; the problem is clearly on their end.
I don't like, nor do I accept or acknowledge the 'social outcasts' who do everything they can to seperate themselves from the majority, and then make comments about how they'll just never fit in, and that the rest of us just don't understand them.
I have friends who would fall into that category, except for the fact that they don't whine, and actually venture out of the corner when invited to do so. Guess what.... they fit in.
If someone tries talk to me about the USA paralleling the Third Reich, or seriously speaks the scentence "did you know theres never been a real Communist country?" I will promptly tell them they are being stupid.

We need a selective breeding law for humans, because we have clear received a population of people from somewhere that have absolutely no common sense at all... Tired of my precious oxygen being wasted by some people...

Officer was a prize idiot, although I would suggest he discharged the taser accidentally, should never have pointed it at the kid initially. Even though it sounds like he was probably messing around
As for th kids ptsd I think the tales of him waking up clutching his chest and screaming may have been brought on by the taser impact causing Ma and Pa to see dollar signs

3 sentences consisting of six words total... Now what exactly did he say? Nothing...
As I said, we have so many people people in this world that have zero common sense that have no business being here. Sure its an extreme statement but it's true. Fine we don't have to exterminate them, but ship them off to some deserted island and I'm sure they would take care of that themselves.
An example:
A couple of years ago, during a very cold winter, our hangar door fell on one of our planes as it was being pulled out. It nearly killed the student who was just a foot ahead of where the door impacted the plane who was helping pushing it out.
The door was a folding door that is hinged AT THE TOP OF THE ROOF mind you. The drive chain failed and allowed the spool to unwind, but only one side of the door began to fall. However, because of the unevenness, the cables that actually support the door began breaking until the entire door free fell down. The entire event happened in about 4 seconds.
Because the hangar is owned by the county, everything had to go through the county, which means county lawyers were involved.
The plane spent a few days under the door while they were investigating. The manufacturer of the door was here with their engineers that day. We explained what happened and they were trying to figure out if the door was salvageable at all. Our mechanic was talking to them and he told them no, that the door was rusted out, and should just be scrapped. He took a hammer and just lightly hit a spot in the framework to show them and the head went straight thought the metal.
The lawyer turns to him and says, "Did you just tamper with evidence?!?!" he replied saying what and why he did it, but after she kept repeating that he just said, I guess so if you want to call it that...
So then we finally asked, can we just take off the lower portion of the door because it was blocking our entire hangar and we still had planes in it.
The lawyer said and I quote "You can't take off just the lower portion because then the upper portion will just fall down." after telling her that it's hinged at the top, she still said the top door will just fall. It took us five days of saying the same thing over and over again and three meetings with the engineers from the door's manufacturer explaining to her before she hesitantly agreed to allow us to take off the bottom section so we could use the hangar.
We even showed her another door on field that operated the same way and showed her that there is absolutely no support to the bottom of the door when it's down to begin with. The door stops about 4 inches from the ground and then it's just a heavy duty rubber weather strip.
This is the type of stupidity I'm talking about. It's not rocket science to understand what hinged at the top means. Just like thinking that it is not the job of the police to protect the citizens or thinking its even remotely acceptable to be pointing any weapon of any kind at another person, because they refuse to wash a person's car.

Dude all was pointing out is how stupid talking about exterminating people based on intelligence is. Eugenics was a bad choice of words being that what you are suggesting is even stupider than that. The fact that you missed my point because I used so few words to express it, plus the fact that you needed to use so many words to explain that lawyers suck is proof you should be the first one to go into the oven you wish existed. Also, it was the Supreme Court, not me that said the police have no constitutional duty to protect citizens.
