Title: Pilot wound indication
Post by: Rob52240 on November 05, 2012, 01:56:01 AM
So we have white smoke for fuel hits, another white smoke for radiators, black for oil.

I would like to see blood pouring out of the plane when pilots get hit, kinda like mortal kombat or Kill Bill.

This has got to be the most absurd wish I have seen here and there have been some truly absurd wishes.

Gormless wish. But in the same vein, how are pilot hits calculated? Every pilot hit seems to result in blackouts, I would suggest that losing the end of your finger may not cause you to black out repeatedly

If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Rob52240...  I would shoot Rob52240 3 times.

This wish proves you can take the player out of the vTards but you can't take the vTard out of the player.

My plane should be smoking constantly like the cars in GTA4 when you're giving the Rastafarian guy a ride :rock

Don't post a moronic, retarded wish and I won't make fun of you.  Simple solution that even the most simple minded vTard such as yourself can hopefully grasp.

Id like to see the icon flash as well. Just to make it easier to spot the wounded pilots.

well my 2 cents is that even if there was blood pouring out of the cockpit, you wouldnt be able to see it anyways unless zoomed in on the filmviewer.  and the flashing icon, what is that just for easy kills??  just saying

You can tell many times by where your hit sprites make contact with the aircraft and by watching the aircraft after you hit it. If the guy is manuvering hard either for a shot or to deny a shot and then the aircraft falters or goes straight and level you can usually bet the pilot is wounded and blacked out.

Thank you for an intelligent comment. I was beginning to hope I never become a "plutonium level" anything.  ;)

For a guy with a rod up his tailpipe you can sure make that 38J dance.

If only your sense of humor had gone to the gym with your ego...  it was a joke, and the visual is pretty entertaining.

You call that a joke? I suppose you would laugh if someone started coughing up blood too.

One of the reasons I play these games is so that I don't have to see the kind of gruesome stuff I would see if the fighting was real. What is so fascinating about that crap anyway?

Aces High 2 has enough larakin laughs in it, and enough chaos in it to make anyone laugh. Besides. If you pilot wounded him... you suck. Cause if you get the chance for a cockpit shot you should take it properly

 :devil

HILARIOUS POST Rob.

Actually, I would imagine that if you are playing this game so you don't have to see gruesome stuff you're doing it wrong.

Now hold on a second. I don't think it's the dumbest thing I've heard. OK the blood pouring out of the plane is not the way to do it, BUT external visual indication of a pilot wound would be an idea I would support.

Perhaps just a red platter on the cockpit glass, of cracked or bloken glass as an indication you scored a Pilot hit.

Most fights never get that close for the other to see the one's cockpit. Heck, I can't even see the pilot inside 99% of the time.

I vote no.  Having an "indicator" to tell opposing fighters of a PW only makes it more gamey.  Heck, I'd like to see a generic icon for everything over 1000 yards (as simple as 1,2,4 for the # of eng), then have the icon show the plane make under 1000 but no model (a simple 190, P51, P40, 109, Spit, etc).  Too much is already given in AH.  The fog of war is as minute as it can be.

Yea, but in world war 2, there was a particular planeset for that area of operation. So if a Russian pilot sees a single engined and narrow plane, he would think right away that it's a 109, and not a Ki-61 (or whatever), and vice versa. In real life, with 20/20 vision, you can see a plane's marking (at least I can on airliners) from 5-6miles away. I can see the number of engines from 8-10 miles. If anything, the view distance should be increased.

In AH, at 8000yards, you can barely see a dot. At 10000, you can't even see a dot.

It's not gamey to show a cracked cockpit of blood on the canopy because in real life you would see those things, and you'd have to get up close to see them in the game, as in real life.

I'm afraid of clowns.  They remind me of the time when I was a kid my family all went to the circus together and one killed my dad.

I would go against this wish and say that the icons shouldn't even be removed after the pilot bails or is killed, as that drone spirals down to the ground.

Would love to see a few of the horde chase it down, spraying into it, hounding each other in the hopes of getting the kill.  :devil

I like the idea of that also!   Unfortunately not everyone is aware that once an aircraft is critically wounded (i.e. wing missing, both horizontal stabs missing, cut in half, etc), any rounds put into him after that point do not count.

A few of the horde?  If there's a bonified horde present there would be no less than 9 planes chasing it to the ground.  10 of those 9 would auger too.
