Title: Radio Voice Procedure
Post by: danny76 on November 21, 2012, 02:47:10 AM
All of a sudden I am hearing people shouting "Solid Copy" and "How Copy" whilst playing. Yes we have all seen Generation Kill but does it really have a place in an environment unaffected by range, line of sight, atmospherics, interferance etc? :bhead

I just laugh at them over vox, or a simple lol would do. Even funnier is the people who says:

"Help me! There's 5 of them" - Ok...where? - "Behind me!" -_-

Enemy plane explodes - "I got him" - Duh? (only exception are planes that are missing tails/wings, so everyone knows not to go after that con, I do that all the time)

I remember having one guy who said copy and Roger after every single vox transmission. Funny at first, just annoying after a minute. Squelch.

Rgr is fairly normal, after too many years to remember in Military signals I often say roger to the other half accidentally, but some things you hear are a little much.
We are all living a bit of a childish dream playing cartoon planes but I don't want to be reminded of it too much

Oh yea, I say Roger all the time, it's when you say it in every single freaking sentence that has me scratching my head wondering if the guy has a helmet on while playing.

Well I play in the nude but for a wired silk scarf and goggles. I thought that was the norm :uhoh

I have not heard the how copy you reference, but have recently heard winchester used a couple ways where previously I had heard bingo used. Not that either made sense to me.

Bingo is fuel down to minimum for RTB

Winchester is out of ammo.

Bingo - at minimum fuel for safe return
Winchester - out of ammo

I still say "radio check radio check" when I want to make sure I'm getting through, and "say again" when someone else doesn't (never say "repeat"!!)

Voice procedure is a powerful tool, but most of it doesn't apply to our environment.  Most players don't know how to use the parts that do.

Same for battle procedure, alas!

Say again all after ......  over.  Roger.  Out.   What could be more annoying.  Some one who transmits while talking to themselves.

When I first started talking with other fishing boats on the radio, I sounded like a robot. "Copy" "Roger" etc...they got a good kick out of that.

You had to buy a new hard drive because the old bill siezed it after you attempted to distribute the picture  for financial gain. Tell the truth :old:
