Hi, AH2 is great, I used my 2 week trial up a LONG time ago and played some H2H when it was still available. Apart from the lack of detailed cockpits in some planes, the not so fancy scenery and the unrealistic war scenarios where you can fly any plane you like (though there is the occasional historic event?) it is an effing great game. Also great with trackir.
So about subscribing... I have never purchased ANYTHING over the internet with a credit / debit card, but I have the ability, and I am really thinking about AH2. But it worries me (after doing some research) that AH2 will charge you automatically every month, I don't actually see myself playing AH2 every month consecutively, as I do get bored of games and take breaks etc, and what If something happens to me, like I lose my arms, legs, eyes, ears, and voice box in a horrific accident (lol?) and can't tell anyone to deactivate my account! Doom!
Seriously though, why can't there be a system that gives you the option of renewing your subscription? How hard is that to implement? Also is there anything that tells you if you are close to be charged again? I really don't want to have to deactivate my account after one month, or hopefully just before one month, because knowing my luck I will go over one month THEN deactivate my account, see my bill, then be like "WTF".
I'm not rich, infact, I'm poor. But I'm lucky to have what I have got. IS there a way to suspend the billing? (apart from deleting account) Also try to convince me to subscribe, I'm on edge, but one of the reasons I want to play is the fact AH2 is great and I'm desperately bored.
Thanks for any help...

Have you considered the Pre-Pay option? http://www.hitechcreations.com/HiTech-Creations/Customer-Relations/htc-prepay-form.html (http://www.hitechcreations.com/HiTech-Creations/Customer-Relations/htc-prepay-form.html)
I did the subscription thing about 5 years ago. Circumstances arose where I had to cancel my account. I've just recently come back and don't have any problems with the subscription service. For about 50 cents a day; I find AH to be a great value.

please delete my copies, i tried to post the original thread but Chrome AND Firefox told me that there was some issue with the server connection, and refreshing the site had no results of my posts, so sorry... please fix, how embarasing. :(

Thanks, not very useful for me though, I live in New Zealand and the thought of sending money over the pacific ocean, time it takes, etc.

You are obviously not an adult, better check with you parents and ask them If you can have an account. Anyone that asks others to "convince me to subscribe" should not be spending their money on an online game, especially if they think of themselves and discribe themselves to others, as being “poor”.
Spend your hard earned dollars on an education and find a job you love. Then after you reach adulthood, you will be ready to decide if spending fifty cents a day for an online game is something that you want to do.

Your best bet is to call Hitech Creations during (central time) business hours. 817.431.8840 - ask for Carrie if she doesn't answer, herself. She'll be happy to answer your questions.
In the past, HTC would give you an extra month if you prepaid 6 months in advance. Call Carrie, she'll steer you right.

One thing I wanted to comment on, as it is a common perception, is your statement about having never used a credit card on the internet. Many people think that is a top security choice, but in reality the most common place to have one's credit card info stolen is at a restaurant when they hand the card to the waiter/waitress and it is taken out of sight to be run.
Of course you do want to be safe everywhere so if you use your card on the internet make sure the site is secure and routinely check your computer for malware such as keyloggers.
-
just pay the subscription fee and then go into the accounts area (first splash screen) and remove card details when it has gone through...that way it has nothing to charge next time round

Yes and Yes and what Snail said :aok

You are obviously not an adult
I'm 25 years old, so what made it "obvious" I'm not an adult? Was It my grammar? Being Poor? Asking for motivation? I'll tell you one thing, 7 years ago my life was destroyed by doctors who diagnosed me with mental illness, they messed me up with meds, I'm doing fine, actually a lot better than other people in my situation, but I couldn't help but feel slightly offended especially since it was "obvious" to you.

I guess I will do that, thanks.

I don't feel this would work because the details would be logged serverside for billing not clientside?
-
just join, and when billing time comes, call and tell them not to charge your card. I am sure they wouldnt charge it. or maybe a prepaid credit card?? that way if you dont have the cash, its all on a prepaid.

I don't know how it is in New Zealand, but in the US, you can get pre-paid credit cards from grocery stores and drug stores. You can get a credit card with $50 in it, say. You can use it for purchases, but it will work only up to that $50 limit. Once it is out of money, there are no additional bills or money that you are obligated for.
Spyrox, if you do get a subscription, I invite you to try out the special events "This Day in WWII" (next one runs on Dec. 7th) and scenarios, which are historical events. We'd be very happy to have you fly with us in them.
Some examples of past scenarios are here:

I'm from NZ too, and I'm struggling to understand your angst.
Pay or do not pay, there is no possibly pay.

exactly what I was thinking :aok I think some you can add money to also, so if you wanted to join pay the subscription and say next month you cant, you just dont have to add money to the card. I used to use one like this years ago before I got a credit card
-
Okay, I'm just considering subscribing normally, and perhaps emailing hitech to only charge me for the one month? Not sure if they would like this, but if all goes well, I may continue into the next month. (I will see how I enjoy the game again before sending the email). Hopefully I'll be flying later on in the day. :)
-
man you will love it! :aok the people here are awesome :rock

Not to thread jack, but are there any official pre-pay options for savings?
-
Spyrox, I invite you to join us in a little over a week for a Pearl Harbor event. (It will not have the US only in AA positions -- is more of a "what if" the US hadn't disregarded radar reports.) It runs in Special Events II arena on December 7 at 8:30 pm Eastern US time (which is 2:30 pm on December 8 for New Zealand).
-
I have subbed, the normal way, and so far I have been shot down like 8 times to my one kill and one assist lol.
To early to tell if I will continue my sub.
Uhm looking forward to pearl harbour event if I can make it, it sounds great.
-
Spyrox, if you give me a date and time, I can assist you in the Training Arena.
A few minutes with a Trainer can be extremely valuableas the masses in the Main Arena won't review the dogfight in slow motion, but will end the fight as fast as they can.

Actually getting one kill for only eight deaths ain't that bad for the beginning. Seriously. :aok
-
ive been sending htc 2 quarters a day in the mail for 10 yrs now :) .........(J/K) wonder if that counts if you do a pay ahead plan lol
-
Not even going to read this . You want to play you got to pay . You will find that in many ways of life . We got people in our squad that pays and don't even play . Don't be cheap if you like something .
-
Might a little late here but unless something has changed you can prepay via check with out giving HTC a credit card. I played this way for many years back when I started out and was a poor college student.

Get a green -dotcard or so called money pack and then pay .

Would be very happy to do this, I will most likely be available anywhere from mid day tomorrow for at least 12 hours, you will probably be in Bed right now.

Flench, this is why you should read before you post in a thread.
The whole thing was, yes I want to play, and yes I'm willing to pay, which I have done so now, I just was a bit on edge about it automatically billing me every month.
-
I like the auto billing every month . One less thing I got to cut a check for . Thats no big deal if you got the money they will give you a discount if you pay like a six month scrip .
-
If you lose enough of your faculties to tell someone to stop billing your account, I think it is pretty safe to assume that whatever credit card you use to sign up will cease to function once your inability to pay the bill catches up to it... (and assuming the severity of your injuries is preventing you from firing off a one liner to billing@hitechcreations.com, I imagine $14.99/month would be rather inconsequential).
In FACT... I bet if you asked them up front... say "Hey, if I am chewed down to just my torso by an alligator or honey badger, and am unable to cancel my account, could my next of kin eventually ask for a reimbursement after providing photographic evidence of said event?" they might just take you up on that.
