I've been trying to find a good game to play that deals with battleships. This isn't as common a genre. Most games are usually about armies and land warfare, and naval combat is just a side show.
The first one I have been looking at are Storm Eagle's Jutland game, but I find their user interface to be pretty bad, and even their demo didn't impress me when it asked for me to log onto their website and setup an account (it's a demo, just let me play it). To be fair I have never really gone much further because of those issues.
Are there any other games out there for people who like big gun ships?

Check out a MMO called Navy Field (www.navyfield.com). It may be what you're looking for. I tried it out, but didn't have the patience for it. At the time (couple years ago), I couldn't figure out how to get into an on-line battle and gave up. It had potential, though, and is worth checking out. I used to play a table-top game called "Battlewagon", and hoped Navy Field would be similar to. Good luck, either way.

Yeah, but that is likely to be a "naval action game" not a "naval strategy game."

Battleship "you sunk my battleship"

Best Naval Strategy game imho is War in the Pacific Admiral's Ediiton, though of course that's grand campaign not just naval, but I think you can allocate a lot of ground stuff to AI if you choose.
Played War in the East for a few years now, and the scale is immense one turn can take up two or three hours playing as Russians.

For sim only Naval one could recommend is SH5 with lots of mods.

Uncommon Valour is a more scaled down version of the huge games Grigsby has put out, still very good and fairly complicated. Swoop and I had some massive online PBM games back in the day. Great game.

It's a grinding leveling game. Wot/P/(NF eventually) take the same idea but extend it further in the "3-d." It's not so much strategy, or even much in the way of tactics, tho' - basically a steel cage team death match, full of fail. :noid
I've played NF on and off since 2004 - playing now, biding time for a better PC for AH. :aok
You can find me in-game as BWOopsy.

Doesn't take much of a PC to play AH, im using a Lenovo E530 laptop and runs AH fine (50+fps) at high detail levels. Would be good to see you back, just returned last month myself. :salute

Yes, yes they are - they have alpha's out for it right now... But at the moment the alpha is closed until march while they open the alpha for the lousy world of planes...

Pacific Storm Allies. Properly patched and modded it is great.

I recall someone playing a pirate game which was supposed to be good :old:

Pirates of the Burning Sea, the pirate MMO game?
Well, it was a fun time for me, but then again I helped make it. For all you navy officers in that game I hope you liked the La Belle ship you start with. You see, I made that ship, and the Cruizer 16 gun "snow" class ship as well.

I wish more of those board games were ported over to the PC. Particularly the older ones ones put out by Avalon Hill with all those little cardboard chips representing units such as the one with the massive map with "Blitzkrieg",
