Pand_Strat_Maps_v3.0 have been released!
ATTENTION: MAP TARGET IDENTIFIERS HAVE CHANGED TO BE CONSISTENT WITH IN-GAME NUMBERING. UPGRADING YOUR MAPS MEANS THAT EVERYONE YOU FLY WITH MUST UPGRADE AS WELL, OR YOU WILL HAVE DISCREPANCIES!

Changes since last release:
- Matched all target identifiers to in-game object numbers so the downtime (.dt) command can be utilized and target hits can be confirmed.
- All man-able field guns are now numbered.
- Map room location is now identified by a flag on vehicle and port maps.
Features:
- In game Clipboard maps for Small Field, Medium Field, Large Field, Vehicle Base, Port, and Town.
- Includes printable 8x10s for the above, plus Speed Time and Time to Climb charts.
- Color coded targets to make each type easier to find.
- Target types are incrementally numbered for organizing strikes.
- Internal and external compass headings for mission/approach planning.
How to install in game Clipboard maps:
- Extract the .bmp images from the "maps" folder into your Aces High "maps" folder (likely located at: C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High\maps", choosing to overwriting existing.
How to print the 8x10 desk maps:
- Extract the .jpg images from the "maps_Printable8x10" folder to your "desktop" and print each using your favorite program.
- If using Windows 7, open a map with "Windows Photo Viewer", Click "Print" -> "Print..."
- Select your Printer, choose "Full Page Photo", uncheck "Fit Picture to Frame", and click the "Print" button.
- Repeat as desired for each map.

Thanks Pand. Observation. You have the compass on the map, but in game, the fields can be ratated 90, 180 or 270 from that shown. True?

In game I have only seen on some specific maps where some fields are rotated 180 degrees. This is where it helps to have them printed as you can flip them :) Normally you don't realize this until you're in visual range, unless you've sent a scout in early to confirm orientation.

i think on some I've seen them 90. But I could be thinking of the diagonal line that shows up in the Icon on the Arena Map. That seems to rarely be aligned with the runway. But I should scout it.

Why the choice of ZERO as the starting number?
"OK Bob you drop on Hangar one"
"This is Mike, I thought I was droping on the first hangar?"
"You do Mike. You're dropping first, on the first Hangar"
"But you just told Bob to drop on Hangar 1"
"Hangar 1 is the second Hangar."
"Whuh?"
"Hangar one is the Second Hangar"
"What hangar is the first Hangar?"
"Hangar 0"
"So Zero is 1?"
"No, Zero is first, not one."
"Whuh?"
"Oh crap we missed the drop!"

Hitech's object numbering begins at 0. But I can see exactly what you're saying happening :)

As long as you all are using the same map with the same identifiers, what difference would numbering make? Could start numbering at 42 and it should still be clear enough.

because now players can reference 8exactly* what hanger is going to be down *exactly* how long. I too wondered "why", but once I realized that hanger numbers start with 0, it makes perfect sense.

Yes I have run into a small number of 90 degree V bases. Like maybe 1 on a large map. Will post info when I run into one again.

Numbering of game objects is in Base sixteen. (Or HEX for short)
so
0 -1 -2 -3 -4 -5 -6 -7 -8 -9 -A -B -C -D -E -F.
Just image you have eight fingers on each hand. :rolleyes:
