World War 3 or just saber rattling?
The story so far from "Russia Today".

North Korea threats timeline
The Korean Peninsula is experiencing a new period of high tensions, with both sides exchanging harsh rhetoric and promising retribution for any provocations. However, the roots of this conflict date back to the end of World War II in 1945.
Up until 1945 Korea remained under Japanese colonial rule but after Japan surrendered to the Allied Powers, the land was divided along the 38th parallel, with American forces staying to the to the south of the demarcation line and Soviet troops to the north.
In 1948, two states were established on the peninsula: the Republic of Korea (South Korea) and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea).
As a result of political and military contradictions the Korean War was sparked on June 25, 1950. South Korea was getting military aid from the US and 15 other states, while the DPRK was backed by China and the USSR.
On July 27, 1953 the conflicting sides signed a ceasefire agreement. A peace treaty agreement however has never been signed, so formally they have been in a state of war ever since......<snip>

............................. ............................. ...
<snip>
On February 12 2013, North Korea conducted its third nuclear test and warned that further measures would follow if the US continued its “hostility” against the North. The UN subsequently imposed more sanctions on the county.
The rhetoric became even harsher in March with threats to launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike against South Korea and the US. The North further threatened to scrap the truce with the South and nullify the joint declaration on denuclearization.
On March 29, following a mock bombing of North Korea by a US B-2 stealth bomber during a joint military drills, Pyongyang announced that “the time has come to settle accounts with the US imperialists” and ordered rocket units be put on standby to fire on US bases in the South Pacific.
The following day, March 30, North Korea declared it was entering a “state of war” against its Southern neighbor, stating that from now on any issues between the two countries would be resolved in a "wartime manner."
Pyongyang also warned it would retaliate against any provocations by the US and South Korea without "any prior notice."
The decision by the US to deploy two nuclear-capable B-2 bombers to participate in joint military drills with South Korea prompted Pyongyang to harden its position in its long-term conflict with the United States, North Korea's State News Agency said in a report released on Saturday.
North Korean rocket units are reportedly on standby to fire on US bases in the South Pacific.
However, in the capital of Pyongyang, life was continuing normally despite the declared state of war, Itar-Tass reported. There was no observable mobilization of military forces in the city, or any changes in troop deployments to foreign embassies. Shops and restaurants remained open, and there were no interruptions to the city’s public transportation system.
On April 1 the US upped the ante again by announcing deployment of several F-22 stealth fighter jets to the Korean peninsula. The advanced radar-evading F-22 Raptors were moved from Kadena Air Base in Okinawa to the Osan Air Base, the main US base in South Korea.

North Korea does not possess the ability to deliver any of the half dozen nuclear devises they supposedly have. The best they can do with their rockets and missiles is use them conventionally.

Which is in itself no laughing matter.

Look, I hope as much as the next guy that this is all bluster. In fact, I suspect this particular round of noise is actually aimed at China, which for the first time has co-sponsored sanctions. They've clearly put NK's nose out of joint, since the Chinese are the only ones who can really make sanctions bite. Worse for the NKs is the fact China has now made clear to the DPRK that they, the Chinese, see the issue as multilateral, even though NK has always wanted to play the bilateral game with the US. The Chinese have therefore also made clear it is no longer content to allpw NK to go round and round on the "we make threats and the US gives us free s*** ride.
My fear is that the DPRK leadership, whoever that is, is in fact irrational, a bunch of genuine, fratricidal nutbars who actually believe their own BS. Worse, they may actually think that, no longer able to gouge free s*** from the US, hey may try to gouge it out of China by triggering real-live hostilities across the DMZ.
If things really do kick off, they've got a lot of good old fashioned "point and shout bang!" delivery systems not far from Seoul. Enough to make a hell of a mess.
-
This brings into the colonials obssesion about China buying up all the US debt :)
China is now locked into the Capitalist system :rofl
It has to impose sanctions because it will suffer economically if the US decides to pull the financial rug from under it :rofl
It a tried and tested technique used in 1945 with the Marshall plan, Greece is a european example of said technique, upto the 1980's they were Communist,Nationalists and riding donkeys :rofl
In the 90's US capital from the world bank built roads and subsidised the buying of BMWs instead of donkeys, now they are stuck in the 21st century and cannot turn back :rofl
Oh North Korea, grow up and fly a cartoon typhoon :old:

I'd be more concerned with North Korea if they didn't have 90% of the country without electricity. Right now they just want to act all big and tough, but honestly they just don't have the military or political power to do so.

North Korea would be a good place for China to show their military might off to the world, remove the North Korean leadership, and then show off how they can be a good world citizen by handing over the reigns of the country to the South. It would be like Kuwait was for the US for them, except earning the gratitude of a much more important and many times larger future trade partner. They would have a strong ally in a united Korea from then on. This makes a lot more political sense than remaining allies with the current backwards North Korean dictatorship which does nothing but suck resources from China with no hope for a future return on the investment.

Many people seem to think that NoKo is dark because they have no ability to generate.. Like stone age..
Not so, they have massive Hydro power dams.. Many built right after WW2 with Soviet engineers..
They have more Generating Capacity than the population needs..
The country is dark, because the slavers want it that way.. Kinda hard to get info from outside, when there is no electricity, at all.. And if you tried to generate your own, that would be subversive, off to the gulag for you!
It is a total prison society.. Stalin would have wet dreams over the NoKo system of control, the totality of it..
It's amazing to me, like a freak show..
My pop said that place was a barren frozen wasteland.. Not worth diggin a hole to take a dump in..
He was WIA on a hill above the Yudam/ni valley the night of Nov 27 1950..
They piled the Chinese in Heaps that night!

North Korea moves missile launchers, issues safety warning to foreign embassies
Published April 05, 2013
As tensions continued to mount on the Korean peninsula, the communist dictatorship in the North deployed mid-range missile launchers to its east coast and reportedly warned foreign embassies Friday it cannot guarantee the safety of diplomats after April 10.
Reuters reported early Friday that North Korea deployed two of its intermediate range missiles on mobile launchers and hid them on the east coast of the country, citing a South Korean news agency.
South Korea said Thursday North Korea moved a missile with "considerable range" to its east coast after an unnamed spokesman for the North Korean army warned the U.S. Wednesday that its military has been cleared to wage an attack using "smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear" weapons.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom foreign office confirmed in a statement Friday that North Korea asked a number of foreign embassies in Pyongyang to consider moving staff out since they could not assure their safety in the event of conflict..................... .

Remember, the latest Aegis system, has the newest interceptor missiles, hyper sonic, 100k+ ceiling..
They are Made to intercept Ballistic Missiles while accelerating in the boost phase.. They work good too..
All ya have to do is nick the thing while it is going up.. It will disintegrate, never reaching its apogee..
Much harder to hit a lone warhead while it is coming down at meteor speeds..

US Secretly Deploys B-1 Strategic Bombers, E-6 "Doomsday" Planes Near North Korea
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-04-05/us-secretly-deploys-b-1-strategic-bombers-e-6-doomsday-planes-near-north-korea
http://theaviationist.com/2013/04/05/lancer-nk/#.UWF1-FeUI7S
First the US fanfared the placement of two F-22 Raptors in the Osan airbase of South Korea. Then it demonstratively launched a B-2 stealth bomber on a training mission over a South Korean gunnery range. Then it deployed an anti-ballistic missile defense system to Guam and positioned two guided-missile destroyers in the waters near Korea. And now, courtesy of the Aviationist, we learn that the Pentagon has escalated once more in an ongoing cat and mouse game with North Korea, of who blinks first, and dispatched several B-1 ("Bone") Lancer strategic long-range bombers to Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. What is different this time, however, is that unlike the previous very public and widely trumpeted reciprocal escalation steps, this particular deployment has been kept secret from the public (at least the broader public), "a fact that could be the sign that the U.S. is not only making symbolic moves (as the above mentioned ones), but it is preparing for the worst scenario: an attack on North Korea.".................
Finally, and most disturbing, is that another aircraft also in the process of deployment is none other than the E-6 Mercury "Doomsday" plane, which are among the pinnacle in US Airforce nuclear war preparedness, tasked with "providing command and control of U.S. nuclear forces should ground-based control become inoperable" and whose core functions include conveying instructions from the National Command Authority to fleet ballistic missile submarines and also to further command post capabilities and control of land-based missiles and nuclear-armed bombers......

I must have forgot how to play that game. Anyway I suspect nothing much will happen between South and North Korea for the time being. If anything does though I can only hope the capitol city of Seoul (only a drive away from DMZ)will remain alive for the most part, including its population of 10 million people.
