http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2013/may/22/police-respond-serious-incident-woolwich
There are reports that they men are from syria. They wanted TV coverage, but why?
Not alot of info on what happen, but after the attack, the men just waited for the police and told witnesses to film them.
Really messed up, my :pray are with the soldiers family.
-
Well the man I saw on TV is not Syrian. He was black and had a British accent. Nothing to do with Syria. All too domestic I think.

We need to declare some kind of a 'war on terror' :old:
that'll prevent these things from happening and reduce the number of people who want to join these nutjob fundamentalist groups

no the brit PM called it a act of terror, so the papers have been using that. I did not see the other thread as it is not clear what it was about.

they reckon one was originally from nIgeria and the other from somalia but of course they were living in the UK for several years.
It's pure madness and I'm sure all the nutjobs on both sides will now get alot of mileage from this. My thoughts are with the family of the poor soldier.

What would you have it called, an act of compassion on behalf of a group devoted to helping people in their community do good things???
You are aware of the statements the murderer made about an "eye for an eye" and "killing you" all around the world, etc? Or no you are not and just run your mouth?
My thoughts and prayers with the victims or this heinous crime.

:lol you are a funny little man. read what i said in the other discussion...donkey.
-
If this wasn't terrorism, why did one of the men stand somewhat calmly and discuss what he did and why he did it to someone with a cellphone camera? People just committing a usual, run of the mill crime don't usually hold a press conference immediately afterwards.
As for the "War on Terrorism", I suppose western nations could deal with it like we did in the 80's and 90's and make it a law enforcement issue. Because the governments in the middle east always cooperate with western law enforcement.

Don't know what you said in other thread as I have not looked up the other thread and don't care to. I just know what you said in here, and it was a blatant attack against those whose views are different than yours or at least appears to be that way. You referenced an organization that makes no bones about where they stand, and I construed it as you disagree with them. Am I wrong?

The attacker himself said it was a Muslim revenge killing and that makes it a terror attack. Until we in the west are ready to treat Islam like we treated the Nazi's and the Japs in WWII we will never end this type of thing. Crazy imagination policies in both the US and Europe is to blame for the problems we all now suffer. I think Britain called it The One Empire policy when they opened up the imagination flood gates on England. Here in the USA you could drive a herd of Elephants across our southern boarders all loaded down with tons of dope.
-
imagine if it had happened in east la, or down town chicago...someone would have made it all about race. if it had happened in some small town in arkansas, mississippi, alabama or georgia...there would have been fewer cameras and more guns.

that is the one thing us "western infidels" can agree on...but to do it we would have to get very medieval and the international community would not tolerate that regardless of how many innocents are attacked.

LOL now who is the funny little man. I get my news from many different sources when I want it, and when I care, lest of all places is from a rambling dolt. One of my Bachelor's degrees is in history, and we do this thing there, its called research. In pursuit of this thing called research, we must vet, verify, and confirm our sources from bias or worse falsities, if we use them then it must be noted , something you'd learn sometime if you knew anything about historical methods.
You go on insulting ppl, and spouting off all kinds of remarks without a shred of knowledge regarding other ppl's backgrounds. Good luck with that, I'm sure it will serve you well in Wisconsin. Might I add, do a lot of us a favor and stay there.
"Sand diggers," wow, you are a bright one. :aok
So if I read correctly, I'm supposed to get informed by someone (YOU) who blatantly attacks ppl for having different point of views, is ethnocentric at best, possibly ethnoimperialist at worst, a.k.a. a racist. I think I'd rather watch MSNBC. Good luck, you rock man, keep it up, goodbye.

hey rodbaron take it easy bro, he might threaten you with breaking out the crayons :rofl. he doesnt understand that it isnt us against muslims. but rather a few misguided muslims think they act for the benefit of all muslims. not like the brotherhood here in the usa think they are christians. but then of course the kkk and other misguided idiots have never really committed terrorist acts.
one thing is for sure, Muslims, Christians and Jews all worship the same god just in a different way. it is just ignorance from all 3 that think the other is wrong. then again when I go to church i hear about how we are right and the other christians/muslims/jews/etc are going to hell.

I can care less what the international community thinks because most of that crowd hates the USA anyway and none of them are fighting these Islam killers. Only America and Britain ever actually fighting in combat. A few so called allies will send a few medical units and an engineer company here and there but it is Americans and the Brits that do the fighting and dieing. So I say lets take care of business with the Muslim terrorist and worry about an anger letter from that marry band of Marxist at the U.N. later.

One of the most close minded, blind, idiotic statements I've seen in quite some time.
Just because America and Britain are the most publicized countries fighting in the war, does not mean we are virtually the only ones fighting the war other than a 'few medics'

Tragic, that is a lot of deaths. I hope people understand I'm not down playing the wounded by any means. Their suffering is tragic as well.
Thanks for the info.

and it's not going to end anytime soon...the few muslims i know (don't know what sect) are disgusted with the radicals giving all muslims a bad name. then again, they have been mostly americanized. i pointed out that nearly all the radical muslim leaders were blasphemous cultists, like jim jones. when i asked why hard line dedicated muslims would not only allow them to continue their activities, including killing other muslims, but also assist them...no answer.

Sorry just get uptight when ppl attack FoxNews, especially when it's such a generalized attack, i.e. lacks any specifics as to a reason for bashing them and also makes a gross assumption that a lot of others agree with the point of view. Fox isn't perfect, far from, however given the other choices, I'll take them more often than not. They're the only one to even attempt to offer the opposing pov - often simultaneously. Further more, they've got Dana Perino & Megan Kelly    If I'm going to watch ppl try to deliver steamy hot piles, well it might as well come from...
As far as there only being a few misguided...I don't agree. However, I can't expand for fear of breaking rules...
Did they really hit the soldier (RIP) with their car first?
-
seriously? my fox news comment is what got your panties wadded up? :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
fox doesn't simply "offer the opposing point of view" they usually get it as wrong as abc, cbs and nbc. it's usually based on someone's opinion rather than fact. i've witnessed it first hand, repeatedly. the only reason i even mentioned fox was because of the recent flap between jim carrey and fox (fux) news network, which i think is a funny situation. then you sit there and without asking me why i mentioned fox news in the first place, act as if i pulled your panties off in the middle of a parade, then you toss your education on the table as if it actually means you know something. LMFAO!!!
-
arent news on the first couple of hours always based on somebody's opinion and not fact? and what exactly is the "opposing point of view?" and how do you suggest they find somebody that is an expert in the "opposite point of view?" on every article or even major articles that any news outlet offers.
please do give an example and how you would go about publishing something with with an "expert opposite point of view" in the first few hours that anything happens.

wow, you really are lost aren't you...unless i'm reading that wrong or in the wrong context (in which case you should tell me so). appears that you do not understand the concept of reporting news in an unbiased manner, just the facts, nothing more. if there are any "points of view" to be made, they should be made by someone other than those doing the reporting. and, if there is more than 1 point of view to be had, all of them should be given the same voice whenever possible, if it isn't possible that should be stated.

dude, news have never been reported on an unbiased manner and never will. what news report is what is going to make them a profit. you are naive to think otherwise. news outlets/networks/etc are not to report the news but to make a profit for whoever owns it. even those who "are unbiased" are there only to make a buck. just ask what's his name how many hundreds of millions of dollars he made by "telling the truth".
but since you are an expert on "unbiased news" please post an example, I dare you, I double dare you, you pick any news and explain how in a matter of hours you would have reported on an unbiased way with experts from the "opposite view". I triple dare you.

Umm news reporting in many of the EU countries is funded by the government and regulated by law to provide neutral and correct news information. You just don't know what you're talking about. In many countries there are the public news agencies and the commercial news agencies working side by side. The availability of public news pretty much negates the chances of biased news because people would be able to tell the difference between the two immediately.

BBC is definitely biased, they just dont do it bluntly so you get a false impression. They do their biasing through editing, not by mixing views with facts. Reuters and other news agencies are also biased in a slightly different way - in how they select their stories. In areas of conflict what they tend to do is to hire local people to do the reporting and filming/pictures. As a result they get a lot of reports about issues that the specific people they hire care about and nearly none of the things they are not interested in, or do not want to report. Outsourcing the selection of what gets reported does not make the final product less biased.

dude, news have never been reported on an unbiased manner and never will.
i provided you with a valid example that news has been reported in an unbiased manner at some point in history. if you had said news hasn't been completely unbiased in the past 20-30 years i would have agreed, for the most part (there have been numerous times when nothing but facts were presented without the use of words indicating personal judgement by the reporting party), but you didn't. i triple dare you to use your skull for something besides a hat rack...
no you are showing yours. we are talking about usa news reporting not what happens in Europe.

actually no, "we" are not. none of the commercial television entities (abc, cbs, nbc, fox) restrict their news to the u.s. only, whatever global news suits them to report gets reported. most of the time they get the story right and present just the facts. but it is usually just a short blip when they're trying to brush it under the carpet of american ignorance. it's more important to americans to hear about wal-mart or mc donald's than to hear about some kids dying in a backwater country, after our intelligence agencies trained and armed a bunch of goat herders. that's just an example, don't do what you normally do; glom onto it and try to claim i'm saying valid news never gets reported.

I wouldn't say the BBC are biased plus they make some world class documentaries :old:

seriously? my fox news comment is what got your panties wadded up?
LMFAO!!!
I never stated Fox "simply" offered the opposing point of view. I said they are the only ones that even attempt to show it.
You attacked FoxNews, and now you back track to say they usually get it as wrong as all the other mainstream media channels. Why did you specifically call out FoxNews (twice,) and not mention the others until now?
How is an opposing view based in fact(s,) preeety sure it's right there in the word view , that would equivocate it is not a fact.
How did you witness it firsthand? Were you doing Geraldo or Juan Williams, or Bill Beckel's makeup before their show?
The flap with Carrey, oh yeah I saw Gutfeld mention that ONCE, is Carrey still going on about it - guess he's the new Charlie Sheen.
Why did you mention FoxNews in the first place? You said, (what) "do you work for foxnews," (inferred in a tone one would use inflecting they believe the other to be stupid.)
My education, I only spoke about a portion of it. All I simply pointed out was that I had to spend a significant amount of time pointing out bias and opinion in my papers. I think I have a fair grasp of seeing bias and pov quickly and can't help but wonder why you choose to attack the one organization that regularly depicts the others' pov. Watch O'Reilly one night and let me know how often you see/hear him offer up the other side. It's after almost every time he makes an assertion or gives his personal opinion btw, prolly about 10-20% of his show dedicated to it. CNN is the only "other" one that will give it a shot on a blue moon, the rest may as well fly a red star above their hq.
So where do we go from here? Ink is squarely on the money, we can't talk about the real issue here so we should really move on anyway.

you have to admit that it's pretty funny when someone brags about their history degree and their background in vetting research against bias and inaccuracies, and then follows that up by attacking someone for disrespecting Fox News :lol :aok

I have a history degree :old:
Enough said me thinks :old:

Bragging??? :lol
I also :old:, ahh nvm...
Anyhow, want to give some examples of Fox's inaccuracies? For every one you give, I'll raise you 3 by the mainstream, try me. The notion of bias was already addressed, I distinguished Fox as the only one that attempts to show the opposing pov, i.e. yes they are bias. If you one portrays the opposing pov then obviously they are bias. To be "fair and balanced," as they claim, they must show a different pov.
I wish I could point out the inaccurate because of bias by the mainstream, but doing so would take us into a realm that has already been noted as an area we can not go (here.)
