Seriously, wtf?
Stats for Late War Tour 160:
Kills - 1837
Deaths - 1474
K/D - 1.25
Some rides with low kill totals can have an artificially high K/D for a tour when a leet cartoon pilot gets most of the sorties. That doesn't seem to be the case with this aircraft, however. Should be more like 25 ENY.

Uh ... greed. (Agreed)
-
KI43 is a pos. Without an La7 next to it to make the targets slowdown and turn it is a completely harmless plane. I target them as a relatively high priority because of their nuisance factor - their presence prevents me from duking it out with the spits et al.
The high K/D likely reflects the fact that it is difficult to hit it and that they dont usually wander far from the acks. An interesting question is who is the KI43 killer?
In absolute numbers this will likely be one of the most common rides, but which plane has the highest fraction of KI43 kills out of its total?
-
The Oscar is far from perk worthy, besides the Oscar isn't the only aircraft with a ratio of >1.0.
-
Who said anything about perking it? Unless you know another 25 ENY plane that is perked. Most of the planes with a K/D greater than 1.0 are not 40 ENY birds. Sometimes the C.202 does well in that regard, but it is only due to one or a few good pilots (and hardly anybody else) flying it. The Ki-43 has a very respectable K/D for being a lowly 40 ENY death trap that gets a fair amount of use. Even a hopelessly mediocre pilot that I know quite well has a record of 28 kills to 2 deaths .vs fighters, flying the Ki-43.
The A6M5 is 20 ENY and it does carry ords and have better guns, yet it doesn't take damage as well (which is kind of strange) and gets it's tail feathers handed to it by the Ki-43.

The P-51D is the plane with the absolute most kills of the Ki-43, but that doesn't mean much as the Pony is simply the most used fighter in the MA by a huge margin.
The plane with the highest fraction of Ki-43 kills out of its total... if you take out fighters with very low usage it's the Ki-43 itself followed by the A6M's.

Makes sense to me.

I had a feeling you'd arrive at some point with such data :)
I didn't think of that, but that makes sense. The thing about 43 on 43 kills is that they push the K/D towards 1.

Sorry, I had one train of thought but typed out another, I am very distracted (I just lost my dad).
I wouldn't want to see thev ENY too low on the Oscar, it moves well but it i s armed miserably and is fairly slow.

Thoughts and prayers with you, sir.
Yeah... 40 is probably a bit high but I doubt it should be any lower than 30. As was said earlier, the plane is little threat unless you're in another slow turny bird or you're drunk flying a P-38. :uhoh
Not that I've ever done that..
:bolt:

My condolences, Del. Lost my mom late last year, so I feel for you. Take care, and God bless.

My condolences, Delirium. I am sorry to hear about your father's passing.

Sorry to hear that. I lost my Dad last August and life goes on but it's just not as good.

I'm very sorry to hear that Del, and damn sorry for your personal loss. Having lived through this myself, I can tell you that the sorrow will dull, but your dad will never be far from your thoughts.
Hang in there buddy, your dad would want you to be strong and make him proud.

Agreed.
My dad died at 65 some 34 years ago when I was in my 20's. While details have faded over time I still think of him relatively often and feel he's still watching over me.
The odd thing was he died relatively quickly of health issues (about 5-6 months after onset of conditions) and I had no emotional reaction to his passing whatsoever until the day of the funeral when I broke down sobbing uncontrollably. Until then I was thinking I must be some cold SOB. In the end, not so much. I was just good at internalizing. Each person handles these things differently so however you deal with it just let it happen naturally and it will get better.
Finally, people have an amazing ability to remember the good things and forget the bad things over time and your memories of your father will be fond memories for the most part.

i agree with this, it's not exactly a speed burner or packing a huge punch. The only time i use it is when a cv is near and there are low and slow AC in the area. Otherwise your not going to run anyone down and is easily avoidable.

Sorry to hear about your Dad, Del. My best wishes to you and your family.
