This soap opera of a forum has become disgusting with it's nasty back stabbing accusations and relentless massacre of random persons integrity.
Grow up children. Seriously!

Your behaviour has been appalling, you should promptly apologise :old:

Yeah we have hit a new low around here of late. :(

Yeah we have hit a new low around here of late. :(
Well, it wouldn't be the first time the forum devolved to ACES LOW. But I would like to
believe the character assaults made on this forum are generally done in ignorance of the real person's life
and experience. It doesn't excuse it, but I can't bring myself to believe that such would be done with any
real degree of premeditation or forethought. It's an act of thoughtlessness not thoughtfulness. It's bound
to happen from time to time.

Its not just Aces high, its pretty much every competitive game there is, especially on the internet where one can hide behind a monitor. For every 1 good ego there are 99 bad ones.
Sad part is 99% of all don't act like children in person. However gaming is to the point where I rather not even meet anyone or share any details.
-
Its one thing to bicker and dicker but when things start turning personal things reach a new low. There have been a few people thru the years who have known some personal things about me but Ive never posted them in a forum and frankly dont trust strangers Ive never met.
It saddens me its happened here cause even if I didnt get involved it was reassuring to know this was a community that literally "knew each other" and even got together on occasion. This was a very tight community at one time. That last thread really turned my stomach. "You know the one Im talking about".

competitive game
I disagree and demand immediate apology

If I was a two-weeker reading the forums, experiencing 200 in the MA (and particularly in the DA!) and seeing how much BS is tolerated in AH, I would have left by now. People don’t always stay with a game because of the game; they often stay because of the PEOPLE. What is said on 200 and in the forums is in many ways the face of the game. That means YOU (a forum participant) are the face of the game. I wish more players gave a moment of thought to that BEFORE posting.
There is a very vocal group who probably make things look and feel worse than they are, but new players don’t know that. I’m certain there are trial players who have left for that reason. The DA is where many new players go to try their hand against a smaller number of opponents (I know I did), but the griefing that goes on there is ridiculous. If there are moderators for the arenas (particularly the DA), I don’t think they are doing their jobs very well. And it’s sad that HTC has to dedicate time and energy to policing the crap-slinging in here.
If it wasn’t for the FSO, I wouldn’t know there is a healthy community that exists in AH, instead of a rabble of immature, narcissistic, online gamers. I know better because I’ve been around a bit and have been lucky enough to join an FSO squad, but I’m sure new players don’t see this. All they see is the crap you post here and on 200.
If you want the game to thrive, and retain new players, remember that YOU are the face of the game to new people. New players don’t understand the complex dynamics behind your purse-fights or squad-bashing or village-idiot baiting. They just see all the crap. Please take some responsibility for that, instead of making it worse and hiding behind your online anonymity.
WRT Fester, I hope he deeply regrets making such a thoughtless and disgusting comment. But before you stoke the flames, try to remember the above.
End rant.
:salute

Airing of grievance?

Airing of grievance?
Personal exasperation followed by inappropriate acting out, from what I've observed.

Very true. I started playing in tour 49 in 2004 and didn't even visit the forums till 2008. I'm glad I had 4 years of game time to form a solid opinion before reading what goes on here behind the game scene.

Aren't you supposed to buy me beer or food neighbor?

Dragon, as a born and raised kid from Shaker Heights (poor side of the tracks) how are the Browns shaping up this year?
Pretty much agree with your OP.

I tend to save disgust for real life stuff, but yeah, lots of foolishness going around lately.
All of it can be fixed if more people hit the back button on the browser instead of post. :)

Aren't you supposed to buy me beer or food neighbor?
:lol
Sure but you better let me and the missus straighten out the budget first. :)
PM me. I need updated contact data and navigation.

Righton Dragon, but ya know what I don't get is we all have a lot in common really, if you think about it. Our love for WW2 aviation, history, and I'd say the vast majority of us are extremely competitive. At the same time we're intelligent enough to stick with and learn a game with a pretty steep learning curve. For a lot of us this game is like an extended family, having made lifelong friends over the years. I find it to be an incredible online community....the likes I personally have never seen before. Sometimes some us just log on to have someone to talk to. The game is an after thought. When there's a tragedy folks always step up and offer kind words, prayers and what have you.
I just don't understand what the deal is. I enjoy the light hearted jabs we dish out to one another. In some ways it brings us closer together as teammates and rivals. But there's no need to get personal and downright mean and nasty to people that we enjoy playing a game with. I think we're all better than that...at least I hope we are. Like most families, and I think that's what we are....a online family, we're going to have our infighting and disagreements. But hopefully we can dust ourselves off and learn how to treat our fellow hobbyists with more kindness and respect....especially after these recent events has shown us all just how unthinking and cruel we can be.
We're all ....or most of us anyway, are going to say something stupid and regrettable at some point on these forums. And when we do, we need to man up and admit when we're in the wrong. There's no shame in apologizes in my book. If anything it's a sign of honorable character and integrity. It's just a damned shame we as adults have to act this way. We're better than this.
That's all I have to say about the matter. :salute

The Browns are the Browns. Will it ever change? I grew up in North Olmsted and my wife of 21 years is from Olmsted Falls. Good to see another neighborhood guy still kickin it here.

Lots of truth in some of the above posts, as I have only been playing for a year I don't post much because of the abuse you may get for it. No I am not a wimp and can take criticism but the needless bashing is uncalled for and I don't feed into it or respond to it, life's to short to get worked up over a bbs post :joystick: too many red guys to try and kill.
About the only serious responses I have seen or gotten are in the help or question area so a big :salute to the people who actually do help subscribers.
From where I sit for the most part this is NOT a community, sure you have some great people here that do help others and help the game progress, but sad to say this place is mostly a troll factory and flame pit, no new member especially the young ones would want anything to do with this place. They might like the game but usually the first post they make people jump all over them and they check out as fast as they can, the wine and cheese crap needs to stop. You will not get new subscribers or retain the ones that do play if all they read on the board is hate. I treat this board like I do ch200 I don't tune to it unless I need some info on the game, that's no way a community should be.
Flame on!

Potato!
That is all.
:D

That you, Dan? Danny Quail?

People should do what I do, don't hold a grudge. If you are hell bent on hating someone every time you log into the game then you are doing it wrong. Allow me to simplify...
*Ahem*
IT'S A GAME
If you are taking it that seriously then someone needs to unplug your computer for a few months. I'm not saying don't get mad, by all means get mad for watermelon that goes down in game, I do it all the time. If you get mad at someone because of something they did or said to you, then find somewhere else to go fly. Squelch them and move on.
I should also say that I have crossed the line out of anger before. I will usually be the first to apologize after my head has cooled off in game. If I have to log out then I will be sure to send them a PM on the forum (assuming I know their name).
