...........Why not change the Icon to simply say GV and NOT what type of GV.
There is no place to hide for a GV in any terrain. No camouflage of any kind. Certain small GV's can hide in the barn with a silo, or maybe under a bridge, but a Storch or any low flying a/c can read the red icon and report immediately what kind of GV it is, no matter how well it is hidden.
In another thread many have discussed changing the perk system. The perks for a/c and GV's are not weighted equally. Perked GV's are much easier to destroy.
If the Perk system cannot be modified, then turning off enemy GV icons, or changing them to simply say GV is a reasonable alternative.
If you have a better suggestion or another idea that would balance out the perk system please leave a post.
No flamers please.

Icons should not show unless the vehicle is moving!
It is easy enough to see GVs without icons as it is.

I once suggested a "camouflage" hanger option that should cost x amount of perks that could hide your icon unless firing, moving, or storch spot (but needs to be closer to spot and non observation planes even closer). after all we have the storch for a reason...
cost x perks 4 this below

Planes are already able to tell what your driving before they see your icon if the settings are right. Just takes a good eye.. So -1 unless you wanna implement something like I suggested. but its your thread. :salute

you do know that right now stationary gv's cannot be seen until you are almost on top of them? and if they're hiding in the trees they are even harder to see. by the time you see an icon on a werbie he's already firing at you.
with the new lower icon range on gv's it's harder to see them already. I see that perhaps you want it to be harder for people to target certain gv such as m3's and perk gv's.
gv's icons are fine the way they are now.

On somewhat of a tangent......
I would like both friendly and enemy GV icons to be the same range. (as per present enemy)
If some one must run for his own Wirble screen then I do not see why he should have such a massive advantage in seeing it's location.
There is radio coms for him to find them and if he still cant see them they can fire off some tracer for all to see..............
Plus blue on blue should be a problem that attack ac have to solve..........

This, not the OP request which is massively biased against aircraft.

Nope! Been out too long I guess.
Now remove the icons from stationary vehicles altogether except for maybe a small short range colored dot and it would be perfect :aok
When was the last time you were in a plane trying to find a vehicle that didn't want to be seen from the air? I can tell you finding groups of cattle from the air without a keen eye for it is very difficult! That is why my suggestion "long time back" was to allow vehicles to have "country specific" colored smoke rounds to mark baddies!
Vehicles should be very difficult to see from the air if they don't want to be seen!

Sounds reasonable. It would eliminate Karnak's complaint about running to Wirbles.

last time I logged. tank was in a cluster of trees. icon was only visible from one direction for about two seconds. not enough to aim in that forest.

Its also exactly the same as my suggested solution. :p

GV's can be spotted IRL though many ways, Swedish airforce attack pilots we worked with in the 80's told us they could find our rough location by following our tracks .
They where hoping someone moved, then they could spot the tank, if we where not moving / shooting we where almost impossible to see in rough terrain.
Tanks can be distinguished with a long barrel sticking out.

You are implying turning off killshooter, with all the consequences which have been discussed many times in this forum.

Like that idea :rock

What about lowering perk loss for gvs if destroyed by bombs vs other gvs? Might disinhibit the use of tigers off pavement.
-
Another idea for discouraging the bomb tee's.........subtract the perk cost from the bombers' perk account. :D :rofl :D
I don't think you will see them flying 2 sectors when ords are down.

Why do you keep ASSUMING that I am implying something I did not say..... in a scenario (IMO) it would be best if kill shooter was off....but for the MA (IMO) it would be better on (both blue on blue) ...actually the effect re attack ac being more cautious would be incurred in both situations....(Scenario & MA)
Now please do not try to read some other agenda in that statement.

The uninitiated would be surprised where I can hide a 70 ton main battle tank.

+1 on the original idea. Me likey

Sorry about that, but when someone posts incomplete statements, it logically follows that the reader is forced to make assumptions as to meaning. That was particularly true in connection with the first time that you complained about my inferences. For this most recent case, your clarification is noted, and your idea approved of.

If you check recent "wishes", I posted a similar suggestion that no perks be lost if the GV was lost to AC. It got many positive responses, but also a few negative ones. The latter were generally from people who objected in principle to anything enjoyable to GVers, without thinking about the intent of my OP or about game play consequences.
