So Flightline is looking for show material in regards too story's of your funniest moments in ah. Please post the story's in this thread. Some of the better ones will make the show.

I have seen some funny things in AH, but one that happened to me was when I had upped from an airbase on the island with TT in the center. The darbar showed cons a sector away so I upped a 109f4 and went afk for coffee. When I came back I noticed a bit more engine noise than normal and as I scanned through views I noticed an enemy 109 "winging" with me coalt at my 5 o'clock. :O My initial thought was to roll and dive, but I hesitated, I thought, that's what he is expecting me to do. Then it came to me, I cut throttle to almost zero and then rolled out. It was really funny and I still died, but I had some funny messages afterwards. :salute

Tops is still the guy saying on Vox "oh no. Not you again!" Then complaining about some guy who he said was following him around the arena telling him "check 6"

One of my funniest moments happened the other night. It was pretty late and numbers were rather low and I had an inkling to fly a Spit so I took up a Spit8 and flew over to a base and started circling around looking for a fight. There was no uppers so I landed across the water from the base to where I had a good view of the field and started calling out on 200 for someone to come up for a fight. SHawk was on 200 and asked my location. Thinking nothing of it I told him I was just east of base across the water. I zoomed in close on the base to see what he would be upping in only to zoom out and see a full salvo of 8in shells from an unseen CV heading my way. I went full throttle and struggled airborne, but it was too late. The shells got a direct hit and I died instantly. :rofl We were both cracking up, but I got the last laugh when I came back and sank the CV. :t

I seem to remember a thread a while back where a group had flown several sectors for a base take,only to have the c47 unload supplies instead of troops.I think there were some screenshots of the mission.

I remeber driving 2 sectors in an m3 with troops to sneak a field, it was a 1 1/2 hour drive, I was 3/4 of the way to the base and I called on squaddies to come kill the town. They came with buffs and heavy 38s and by the time they got there I had been sitting in the m3 for another 30 minutes. They had flown NOE and then there was one last set of mountain ridges they had to get over. They crashed into the mountain and the buff and 38s that made it were killed by ack and a fighter. :furious Even though I had wasted over 2 hours I still found it funny :rofl :salute

Joined a mission. Heavy fighters going to capture a town. Mission commander was assigning P38's which hangars to kill. When he came to me, I pointed out that the P38's had been loaded with rockets only. None of us had bombs, so a single plane was not loaded properly to kill a hangar. It turned out that I was the only one who checked my load out before launching.
While it was kind of frustrating, we all got a good laugh out of it.

Karaya's "Candy Mountain" missions, in particular the one in which we upped Kates to torpedo ground vehicles that were attacking a friendly town. I don't know what made me laugh the most, watching almost half the mission bail out mid-flight once they realized we weren't joking about attacking GVs with torpedoes, convincing the remaining that you could actually use torpedoes as bombs, or watching the chatter on 200 about the n00bs dropping torpedoes on GVs.

The night CobraJet shouted "ROADHOUSE" on vent every time he killed someone was funny. There would be silence for a bit and then it was interupted by him screaming it, that's how you knew he'd got one. I think he was spamming 200 with "ROADHOUSE" when he killed them too and people were wondering what he was talking about. This went on for at least an hour.

Easy8 & txdad were hollering on squad vox for me to leave tank town & bring them troops. I ignored them for a while, but finally did... mostly so they'd leave me alone. Didn't pay attention to where they were asking me to go & the troops took another tank town base. I didn't talk to them the rest of the night, and they laughed heartily at me over that one for a long time.

I was on climb out and another player, also on climb out a few K ahead starts yelling at me and calling me a spy!! I ask what he is talking about and he tells me" when I turn left you turned left, I turned right and you turned right". I told him he was wrong about me being a spy and I was still on auto take off. :banana: Lol.

I was in fso and we had been assigned tbm's during the coral see frame, we supposed to bring a torpedo as it was our job to sink the cv. anyway we fly for a long time searching for the cv. it was finally located and we went on our torpedo run and there were no defenders. easy milk run, only the ack is in the way.
I lowered my alt in, made sure my speed was right, my altitude was right, aiming for the middle of the cv. I pressed to drop torpedo and nothing, I quickly press back space, nothing, I am panicking as I was really close, I move up to go over the cv and aim for the next ship, I press open bomb bay doors, no bomb bay doors, that's when I realized I had forgotten to bring a torpedo.

Ended up looking down into hangar floor, with only engine hurt. I love cushioned hangars.
Bozon now calls it 'standard hot landing' after trying it out himself.
And then, of course, I tried to be a flight lead of a 10-plane squad mission to the enemy base, describing every step flying to that field, how it looked next to the waterline, hearing the english voice of Deckard8 calling out "welcome to sunny Stalingrad", the mission almost got aborted by laughter.

Long time ago, AH1, FSO frame.
332nd Viking squadron ordered to spawn with bombs and rockets, ditch them for a fighter sweep, then hot rearm and attack remaining targets. The planners did not take into account the 332nd drinking problem...
Frame starts, the squadron of 11 strong is packed at the start of the runway when one releases a rocket... sending the entire squadron, including himself back to the tower. :rolleyes:
Since this was less than 60 seconds into the frame we use the confusion to illegally respawn as if nothing happened. Then we vveerryy carefully take off and start dropping the bombs and rockets - not checking below... Half the squadron is hit by falling bombs and blasts under them and are back again in the tower. :bhead
OK, third time charm - we quietly spawn & roll again just before the bases are closed. This time everybody made it into the air.
The next day the logs are made public showing a large number of friendly fire incidents of the 332nd squadron including at least one FF double ace, and major double spawning :D That caused a few arguments on the BBS, especially since our side won the frame.

Its true! the fastest way to safely land is to fly right into the large one-way hangar at ~100 mph and slam against the back wall :rock
Very useful when landing in ports.

that's when I realized I had forgotten to bring a torpedo.
I was bombing some tanks that were harassing one of our bases. I was still pretty green at the time. I dropped my bombs, and they didn't go off. Figured I had dropped too low. Landed and took off again. This time I made sure I was high enough when I dropped. Still no explosion. I go back to the base, and there I discovered I had been carrying drop tanks. :bhead

Title: CHECK IT! AFK YAK!
I was recently flying with a squaddie (who shall remain nameless to protect the “innocent”) who I wing with often. We generally take turns bouncing cons so that we both land kills, but lately it seemed like every time it was his turn, it was some guy who was AFK. Since we have a healthy competition on getting kills, I had been giving him some grief about all the recent AFK kills.
Then we come across this enemy Yak. My wingie has the lead and it’s his turn to go in on the Yak. I watch him dive in, as I follow through in case he misses. Sure enough, the Yak doesn't move and I realize he is AFK. "You bastard, you're gonna get another AFK kill!" I say as I watch him close, fire and see the explosion. But much to my surprise, there is still a red Yak icon there and my wingman is gone.
He collided with the AFK Yak, and exploded, while the Yak kept flying undamaged. I took the Yak’s wing off just before going into auto-climb to save the film.
The best part is we had two of our newest squaddies with us, who also happen to be getting trained on the Corsair -- by this particular pilot. (In his defense it was late and several beverages had been consumed.) We all laughed our bellybuttons off and none of us missed an opportunity to rib him mercilessly the rest of the night. Every time he got a kill we’d say something like “Good thing he wasn’t AFK!” or we’d give him a “Check Six” and then say “Check the AFK Yak!” He was a good sport about it and laughed as well, but it did make for a fun night with the squad.

Poppy a old squaddie of mine was fighting this guy forever on trinity map. The other squad members that were on at the time were way away from his engagement and was listening to him on ts say damn i just cant get this guy. they both ended up high in the mountens ditched next to each other. poppy bails out and shots the guy with his 45

Getting google so drunk one night we decided to up 262s, we were cracking jokes left and right and one point google crashed his 262 taking off from laughing. Moments later I had to wizz and set my 262 into auto climb and when i came back I seen a giant mountain in my way...
Anyone have the youtube video of vDAllas ranting about having his NOE busted? that was classic.

Spending 6 storch deaths to chute into the tower and lie down on radio table, walking over to rearm pad L shaped building to find good hiding place obscured from ack, going AFK for 2 hours to find the field is now enemy field, seeing enemy plane approaching rearm pad, warning pilot not to rearm on channel 200, getting "pfftt" in return, busting caps into the cockpit of the plane with the pistol until he blows up.

Anyone in my squad can tell you that I'm cursed in the 262. One particular sortie involved busting a CV raid on a friendly base. I see some low TBMs and dive after them. As I line up a shot I hear the sound of a bomb being dropped. Mind you that I am miles away from their target base, still over the water. Now I am hauling at nearly 550 mph @under 50ft of alt, but the bomb noise is getting louder until finally, BOOM! Next, I hear the sound of fire! My right engine is burning. "What the hell was that? I just got bombed in a 262!" My plane explodes, and I'm back in the tower with 200 less perks. :furious

-had fbbob do an noe mission over water 4 or 5 sectors away. everybody was great never showing dar 'till we found a cv 1/2 way to the target. we all tried to avoid the ack about 1/4 of the guys and all the goons got killed by it.
I still tease him about it.
-another was this guy that had a 30 man high altitude mission to take a base. we took off from a base 2 sectors away and started climbing for about 20 minutes. I finally asked the guy in charge which base we were attacking, when he told me, I just casually mentioned that that base was the other way.
-back in the day when we used to bring 110's for killing town, we had this guy do about 20 110's and we climbed to around 20k or so. when we got over the town, he just mentioned to dive in and kill the town as the goons were nearby. we all dove in head first, only about 3 of us were able to pull out of the dive. rest just crashed all around the town when they compressed.

In an older game HiTech worked at, I had a squaddie call he was on the deck, in the middle of nowhere in a 190 with 4 cons on his tail barely out of gun range. I vectored to him in my high p38 and saw the conga line below, chopped throttle, dove in well behind them and became number 5 in the tight little line with very little over take. When I opened up I only had to waggle the rudders a little bit to kill all 4 of them. We were laughing so hard nearly augered it.

too many to list, the 2 that stick out.
Kermit and Betty had bailed in TT and I was flying over them, they beckoned me to come find them on 200 after doing a couple of donuts I spotted them.
Rather than strafe them I bailed out the other side of some trees to give me some cover on my descent. Kermit came charging through the trees like a frog possessed and we had a gunslinger shoot out (I won) Then I had to hunt down Betty and she was near a barn and we did the stand behind a tree side step shoot out. I killed her aswell! For a flying game it was more John Wayne :)
Funniest was us doing a 109 sortie with Sveno and Viperius (both living in Switzerland and fluent German) Connery could also speak it well. Some cracking German impressions the whole sortie.
"Achtung Spitfire" ! was priceless.

I was in a strat raid with a squaddie and a few friends. We flew lancs NOE for about 5 or 6 sectors over water while winding our way through dar rings. When we reached the strats we popped and dropped our ords my squadmate and I and one other made it out the other side with one Lanc each. We all went back to NOE for the return trip and went different directions to confuse the enemy cons searching for us which worked very well. Two engines on my right wing had been hit in the strat puffy ack and they stopped so I limped 5 sectors with a lot of rudder at about 150mph. My squadmate reached home well ahead of me and waited patiently for almost half an hour for me so we could tower together. :cheers: I see his icon but I am NOE and can't see the runway, so I pull up to get a look and see I need to correct to the right, I go full throttle and try my best to line up and the a wing dips and I go sliding in. :joystick: I stay off the breaks and try to reverse rudder to get on the runway. I came to a halt with only the fuselage left and the nose right on the point of intersection of runways. :bhead :furious All that way for a ditch.
:salute to my squaddie for waiting for me. The whole trip was 3 hours and 20 mins. :rofl

As he was turning back to get a second run he decided to make a missle out of his plane by ripping the wings off. Oh BTW I won't mention Babalons name here..

He lined up over town was in perfect opened the doors and released the bombs.......... Too bad the town was a friendly town.. As he was turning back to get a second run he decided to make a missle out of his plane by ripping the wings off. Oh BTW I won't mention Babalons name here..

Wow - that is funny and sad. I which I was a con in I-16 that moment over the filed... I would get so many proxies - scaring a hell of B-24s :rofl
Which reminds me that once in AH1 I took a squadron of Stukas (4 or 6) with 1,800KG bombs to kill all hangars on an airfield.
The problem that I hadn't estimated the size of the hills around. We all did a controlled flight into terrain trying to climb with a huge bomb.

Hmm... not too many unique moments in Aces High. But I remembered these two last night, thought I would share them.
#1 It was just after a new map rolled and I see low B29s roughly 8k-10k. I was in my FM2 and was able to get one of them. That poor guy :rofl
#2 Was looking at the map to see a base flashing for no reason, no dar bar up, and no GV spawn to that base. So I took off in search for the source of the problem. To find out it was a goon who had landed. So.. I decided to land right next to him. The guy was apparently AFK. I was sitting there, eating my lunch. When I hear engines starting up, and then an explosion.
I apparently scared the guy so much that he forgot that he had trees right next to him :lol

I remember that one like it was yesterday AKAK. Hearing PK1 laughing at times when I was calling out false info, was epic. I have created quite a few of them over the years with only humor being the catalyst. Whether it be:
"Running of the Bulls" - Jeep races around the center town of dweeb island. Only gv supplies were allowed to right your vehicle. Whoever did the most laps around the outside of the town won. Many a campers would simply laugh on 200 at the sight of 25+ jeeps ignoring the town and friendly gv's.
"B-17 Fighter Sweep" - This one was a Delirium and Karaya idea spurred on a tiredness of the Baltic Map one night. We upped from A43 and went NOE into A45. IIRC, about 20+ of us had gunners as well. Del was one of the few to rtb with kills, albeit in Corky fashion with oil leaks, fuel leaks and missing parts.
"Stuka Missions" - The first one saw 72 Stukas in a single mission and we decimated a town, capturing the base by accident. The second one involved the dweeb island map, 102 Stukas, completely leveling two bases, their towns and SHawk and I in tears laughing when we realized that no one rolled a goon.
"Another Baltic Moment" - Upped SBD's (since someone involved dubbed them inferior, might have been PK1) and a goon. We rolled two bases in a row with everyone flying lazily in front of enemy guns and surviving. Third base in, they finally put up some resistance and we were gladly unable to capture the base.
"Dueling 17's" - A Raptor and Karaya operation. We decided to get most of the 80th, some of SHawk's guys and Nazgul to duel in 17's down in the lower left corner of Baltic. This one might go back to about 2005 or 2006? Raptor and I augered trying to jockey for lower alt. We reupped and flew the 1/2 of an hour to duel. :o
"D3A's" - Hearing Floatsup whine on vox about "Great, there are 30 of you in Val's, but you cannot kill anything and we want this base. Just stay away!" About 1/2 of us landed at least 3 vulch kills when the base was captured.
Unrelated to Candy Mountain, I can only think of one moment.
"Donut Map" - I logged on to AH to find my friend Lazer pissed off that the Bish had taken all three bases in the crater. I got with Lute/RacrX and spearheaded a truce with about 100+ Rooks and 60 Knights to retake Furball Crater. It took about 4 hours, as we had to get the bases outside of the Volcano and then climb to 15k to enter the three base area. Not one Rook was felled by a Knight and vice versa. Rooks got their base first and escorted Knight goons to their town.

The first was a sortie long ago in FSO where USMC/71 Sqn had a good showing of about 14-16 pilots or so, and we were tasked to fly B5Ns on a long mission. We only had a handful of escorts and we had a very long mission, multiple targets to hit, and possibly even ships to sink. We split up into about 75%/25% with 25% carrying torps, to be saved for cruiser fleets we would encounter after bombing our targets.
Morale was high, banter was flying... In the pre-flight we were laying out the flight plan and how the CO wanted to keep track of who had the torps for later (for instant visual ID in case any were lost in combat) and I suggested simply having them take the second skin in-game, which was dark green. The rest used the default skin, which was all-white.

We even formed up, so that like roles were in formation together. So we're climbing out and our CO is still talking about how the mission is going to unfold -- we got the basics beforehand, and on climbout and formup, as we rendezvous with our other elements, we continue to be filled in on all the finer details and so forth. We're in a happy mood overall and at one point of the more-detailed briefing, TracerX is saying something along the lines of "and that's when our torpedo bombers attack, those with the dark skin..." and there was a pause as if he was about to move on to another topic. I couldn't help myself. I chimed in over vox with as much nuance and inflection and double entendre as I could....
"They say you never go back..." and just waited.
My reward was my own off-vox laugh, but I thought it bombed with everybody else... until after a momentary delay for it to sink in everybody burst out laughing on vox for a sizable period of time. It was just one of those things, but we were still chuckling about that well into our mission.

There's a tool that makes those for you. It's still around. You just fill in the subtitles and it adds them at the bottom for you, or something. Those got old very fast.

Well it didn't happen to me but, our squad was doing a bombing mission with variety of bombers. As it happens it was one of the first sorties someone did with a B29 when they came out. He lined up over town was in perfect opened the doors and released the bombs.......... Too bad the town was a friendly town.. As he was turning back to get a second run he decided to make a missle out of his plane by ripping the wings off. Oh BTW I won't mention Babalons name here..

Wasn't me, but I was one of the other bombers in the formation and had a front seat to witnessing that diving turn. I want to say doright, maybe? In his defense, the base was captured 5-minuts before we flew over, and it was intended to be the first of a couple targets we had lined up in a chain.

Funniest was when a 163 base was glitched and was capturable and about 12 of us took it. The hardcore ranting on 200 was hilarious but when we tried to take it......I may have failed hard and brought field supps.....can't remember.

I was in an FSO event, I think it was my first. It all went very well and I think I either got one kill or an assist. The squadron had landed and the CO said let's line up wing to wing near the hanger before the event ends. Well there were 2 or 3 of us, myself included, who had never taxied before let alone taxied into a wingtip to wingtip position. There was about 10 minutes before the event was supposed to close and we were taxiing around and around :joystick: trying to get lined up WITHOUT hitting any buildings or planes. Finally with about 10 seconds left we all lined up and everyone was rather amused. :rofl Phatzo was in the squad and said he had filmed it and was going to use the Benny Hill Theme song with it. We ALL laughed as the arena closed :rofl

One of mine happened earlier today. I got turreted while in an M18 and started driving back to my base. A storch came up and landed behind me and started following me so I slammed on the brakes hahaha

So the other day I am in AH and notice a large red dar bar over one of our bases. I go to the tower there and see that a horde is over the field. I pick a plane and press the runway tab and while doing a quick scan through my views I see an enemy plane off my right wing. He is nose on to me and I think he is coming to vulch, but then I notice he is being chased by friendlies and he has changed his vector slightly. He passes 50 feet off my nose and I fire, raking his canopy with canon and BOOM! :x :ahand :rofl

I ran out of fuel chasing a b29 all the way back to bishop HQ area and noticed I had 1 minute fuel remaining so I landed nearby, chuted out, and crept up to the runway most likely to spawn ME163s and waited for someone to attack thier strats.
I turned up the volume and went afk and it was 4 hours before I heard the familiar sound so I ran back to the computer and sat down only to see the tasty 163 only 50 feet away tower out instead of taking off.
Opportunity missed but sending fair warning that my missions don't end when I chute out and that you're all possible targets for .45 pepperidge.

I'm brand new here but I already had a kinda funny thing happen. I was attacking an airfield in an A20G when I happend upon a lone enemy B-25. So I dove on him and shot him down but not before being raked by defensive fire that killed one engine and had the other leaking oil. So I made for the closest friendly field at low altitude streaming smoke the whole way. I had wet feet for a good portion of the flight and just as I came dry, engine number two seized. I was able to nurse as much speed as possible without losing too much altitude and used my flaps to keep me up for as long as possible. By doing this I touched down easy in the fields and then coasted into the town near the air strip. I came to rest on the road near the center of town.
What made this funny is I could imagine this happening in real life and emerging from the stricken bomber with my leather helmet, goggles and scarf on and an attitude like Captain Wild Bill Kelso from the movie 1941 and asking someone for a ride over to the base so I can get another plane while chewing on a stubby and well worn cigar.
