Title: Battle of Britain Scenerio
Post by: Max on September 14, 2013, 05:53:37 PM
Just spent the most exciting and enjoyable 3.5 hrs in many (AH) years flying for the RAF.

I heartily encourage anyone not signed up for Frame 3 (next Saturday 3:00 pm EDT) to give it a shot.

Frames 1 and 2 were absolutely awesome!  Definitely one of the best things AH has to offer.

A great time indeed.

:salute to the pilots of the 92 Spitfire Squadron that I had the pleasure of leading into battle today and to the brave Luftwaffe pilots that opposed us.

Also a  :salute to RAF command and to Search and Rescue operations.

This is the best of AH hands down.

It was a heckuva fight and a great time.  Sounds like the RAF had as much fun as the Luftwaffe :aok

This scenario significantly increases the survivability of my bombers over the MA strats when it's running. I was able to lower my bombing alt by a considerable margin without fear of being shredded by hordes of competent fighter pilots.  :old:

I only can encourage every competent Bishop and Knight fighter pilot to join the next frame of BOB13   :devil

:O   :rofl  Oh that's just too funny lol  well played!
Turnout is growing, this is turning into a fight, you're only going to have a couple of handfulls of defenders in the MA by the end of this.

Were you flying for the RAF? I've noticed the number of assists on our side has been very high - .303s mean a lot of people are likely to put lead in a Hun before he goes down. I'm guessing the same is true for the bomber gunners.

Loads of fun, though, and I wouldn't trade my beautiful Spit for a clunky old 109E for all the 20mms in the war.

Very true.  In frame 1, KG 53 (the He 111's) got 30 assists, and in frame 2, 22 assists (unfortunately, some of them being on our own fellow bombers  :uhoh ).

Amazing fun! I kind of saw the battle for A62, I was SAR underneath the fight. I did hear a lot of bombs falling and lots of explosions as well as lot of range vox chatter.

Great fun though, I apparantly got 2 kills! So I'm happy even though I didn't think I had got any. Lots of 109s about and they were all challanging the Voyager to be furthest from the earth, but good fun and everyone engaged. Makes a differance to the MA when you see someone at 30K and they BnZ once then run. Here they stayed and fought, even if it ment going down in the process.

<S> to BaldEagl and all of 92 Squad. Was a pleasure to fly with you and I appreciate you letting me join you.

Might make it for frame 3, we'll have to wait and see, but fingers crossed!

I. & II. JG52 "Experten" AAR -- Frame 2

Mission One

I.JG52 Took out of 96 with our second wing taking out from 104. II.JG52 was lead by Barkhorn. We rallied in 15.10.6 sector, to rendezvous with the rest of the JG Fighter Gruppes in 13.10. When proceeding directly West towards 13.10.5 from 15.10 I received word the other JG Gruppe were going to go in without JG52. I respected this decision for I would have done the exact same. Just following orders. Since the JG54 and JG2 went in without us, I went ahead and adjusted I.JG52 heading to 12.11.5 direct path. I told my II.JG52 wing leader to branch off and fly a bit west then go into 12.11 from South to North at a slight angle. I staggered my two groups, I.JG52 at 27k and II.JG52 at 30k. II.JG52 was reserved for any high fighters that attempted to bounce the low group. With that plan into play I had no worries of any enemy no matter how large the group. When arriving to 12.11, I noticed JG2 was half present and I heard from one JG54 pilot and I immediately thought, we are too late. That was not the case though ! A few minutes after arriving, 6 co alt spitfires with I.JG52 arrived. I gave the order to engage, I then called for my higher group II.JG52 to come serve as high alt. cap and that I.JG52 could handle the low spits. I set a hard deck for both groups and my very well trained killers handled the spits with little to no difficulty. Then a few minutes after the spitfires were downed, a high group of 3 arrived. II.JG52 took care of the high spitfires within seconds. Great wingman tactics from both groups. I then set a rendezvous point for 100 to rearm. In that fight we lost 0 pilots, but one did have to rtb due to the 88mm flak.

(I forgot to record the first half of the frame)

Mission Two

11 of 12 pilots took off after rearming swiftly at 100. We upped from 100 and headed directly to 12.11. When we arrived we splashed the three spits we encountered, after those three spits there wasn't anything else there. My fuel watcher, Save, told us we were at 50% fuel and we should head home. So we decided to clock out a bit early and headed home. A fellow JG52 member called for help in 12.8 so I took the entire squadron to handle the big bad spitfires ganging up on my Emil pilot. When we arrived we arrived a few minutes too late and the spitfires had bugged out before we could arrive. So I sent a rescue party to rescue my downed pilot and we then proceeded to 100 with 25% fuel left. Upon arriving at 100 we notcied Ditto and morfiend on the deck tangled up with 3 spitfires. Me, having my entire squadron with me, gave the command "Go eat fellas" . Shortly after giving the command all 11 of my pilots pounced on the poor little spitfires. They didn't know what hit em.  :devil .

The second part of Mission Two, we lost Save. He went to bed, so that left me with 10 pilots. Still enough to take care of any big bad spitty fires, or at least I thought so. We rearmed at 100 and took off again as a two groups, II.JG52 and I.JG52.

We got high and tight as a group.

I call this four the fearless four: Latrobe, Flyman92, Ratio & Teacher.

Upon flying through lame puffy ack, we noticed a lot of cons off our 1:00 and 3:00. We thought it was JG54 so we didn't turn into them. . .That was a bad mistake because they were bandits higher than our high cap group.

I kept it cool, we had good pilots. We could handle anything they threw at us. We flew tight, until I gave the command to break.

We were doing fine with the spitfires. . .until back-up arrived; Hurri I's. I then called for help on command channel and reported JG52 entire squadron engaged and in danger.

I realized help was not coming, so I gave the command "Lets dance". JG52 then did a bit of that flying stuff Redtail asked us to perform. Flyman clearing a squad mate.

Wingman Tactics at its greatest, trailing Latrobe a bit to clear any possible bandits. . .While evading a Hurri I.

Just a little of last night. I don't know why my images turned out in such bad quality I run full graphics with anti-aliasing all the way up. I guess its because of the resolution I switched from yesterday to this morning.

That last sortie was just pure chaos. So much so that I forgot to hit the record button!  :bhead It was still a blast and I had lots of fun flying with you guys. I might have to do it again next frame. I'll be uploading our first 2 runs to YouTube over night (very big video, will take all night  ).

whilst killing the #1 luft whiner in game is an admirable achievement you only made 1 kill on his 109 in a 3 HOUR event!   this is not acceptable for a spitfire pilot of your calibre!!

I will however grant you those 30 mins training for every kill you make.   Just keep the watermelon chatter off of country!

Um no. I was RTBing when i saw a low spit trying waht appeared to re-arm and thought hmmmmmm maybe i should stick around. dived through your ack to get you out, and then you followed me up where i flipped over to initiate the the end of a rope. You Ho'd me fine. But you stalled out and i got a full shot of wings and pilot.  End results, Zacherof 1 midway 0. I bailed over the channel due to the ack shooting my engine up as i have no fear of fighting in ack when dweebs feel safe in it just so i can prove other wise, and got rescued so was able to take off right away :P

And you'll find this convienant but my film was corrupted :furious

I bailed over the channel due to the ack shooting my engine up as i have no fear of fighting in ack when dweebs feel safe in it just so i can prove other wise, and got rescued so was able to take off right away :P

And you'll find this convienant but my film was corrupted :furious

Vulched.

Nuff said.  :)

Note, I had refueled/rearmed, and reupped when you came in for the vulch and got your aeroplane shot up in my field's ack.  Ergo, I was vulched fuel heavy in my ack after upping.

Now, more than nuff said.  :aok

whilst killing the #1 luft whiner in game is an admirable achievement you only made 1 kill on his 109 in a 3 HOUR event!   this is not acceptable for a spitfire pilot of your calibre!!

I will however grant you those 30 mins training for every kill you make.   Just keep the watermelon chatter off of country!

Wow, that's a pretty good motivator. I got 3 bomber kills and a crap load of assists that I would like to cash in, please.

Just spent the most exciting and enjoyable 3.5 hrs in many (AH) years flying for the RAF.

I heartily encourage anyone not signed up for Frame 3 (next Saturday 3:00 pm EDT) to give it a shot.
:airplane: You must not have been flying JU-88's!

nice screenies brooke!

it sucked that we had 4 scouts out looking for your second wave in good time and we went fuel critical about 1 grid north of where you must have been, we RTBed thinking we could get back up before you finally turned north.   Tilt found you with very little time to spare so our second intercept was a bit rushed.  If we had been less efficient and assumed you would leave it late for the second attack again we should have gone for a beer down the pub for 30 minutes before starting our second sortie.

It was the only one thing that didn't go right in the frame for us purely down to fog of war and luck!    You might have heard what happened to a ju88 group that got found nice and early and dealt with in the appropriate manner at the start of the frame!

Next week the heat will be turned up to maximum in an all out do or die battle for the RAF and I cannot wait!

I'm generally a very nice person, but as a wise pilot named Changeup once pointed out, this game changes you, and that change for me will now cease.  Good luck to all and know that my admiration and respect for the talented and nice people in Aces High was and is sincere. Title: Re: Battle of Britain Scenerio

Just to be clear, Midway was not asked to leave.  He was given a choice, same as everyone here has.
Keep the MA and Forum antics out of scenarios.  Don't be a disruption and a distraction.
Participate with or without the antics.
That was the choice.
He made the choice.  He chose not to participate.
Everyone in the game is allowed that same choice.
It's interesting to watch unfold sometimes. A few, and I mean a very few players seem to have a difficult time understanding this concept and want every line item of conduct explained, yet so very many players just seem to get through the day without ever having conduct explained and do just fine.
Playful banter, bickering, competitiveness, "feuds", whatever, all of that in normal and expected in games and forums.  When it becomes a distraction and a disruption, players are asked to tone it down or risk their ability to participate.  Always given a choice, if they feel the antics are more important than the event, they are free to make that choice.
Less drama guys and gals, this is war not a soap opera, go shoot stuff.

If I understand your message correctly, you've chosen to leave and scenario AND THE GAME as well?

Midway, I simply don't understand you. For a year or two now, I more or less regarded you as a blathering, narcissistic youngster...both in-game and on these boards. My guess is, many other players came to the same conclusion. Simply put, you created the persona you relish to portray.

That said, I took a step back and re-evaluated my opinion. You posses many admirable qualities and I get the sense you are a kind, intelligent individual. Hence my decision to aid you in reclaiming your name, and offering you tidbits of elder mentoring. Despite your congenial manner (most of the time) you lack the skill to stay quiet and listen when the need arises. Unfortunate for a person as bright as you seem to be.

Not too long ago Bruv went to bat for you...saying that despite your apparent shortcomings as a pilot and loose lips...you always sought to fight the good fight, regardless of outcome. Strength of character comes with discipline and endurance. Should you carry on with your decision to leave the game, I wish the best. Should you decide to stay, listen to the wisdom of those who've tried to extend a helping hand in terms of the game, and the lessons of life.

To fight you must have skill, but to be a warrior you must not have ego.

To yank the forum back onto topic, I have to give a HUGE shout-out to the hard-working pilots and squadron leaders of the RAF.  We have been outnumbered, we have been outgunned, but we have not been outfought.  Through sheer grit and discipline, the battle is shifting in our direction.  Our communications and cohesion are at a high level and still going up.  Well done, it's an honour to serve with you.

Your 66 RAF fighters weren't outnumbered much by our 68 LW fighters, but it does depend more on local concentrations.  There were times where I felt outnumbered.  ;)
