Wait...  There's a story?!

I'm getting it.  Reminds me of San Andreas and that's a good thing.  I honestly wasn't that struck on San Andreas' story either but I enjoyed the gameplay.

That was one video game I bought when overseas and gave it away to a friend when I got back to ensure that my kids didn't get their hands on it.

After all the story telling...

Just waking up in the morning gotta thank god. i dont know but today seems kinda odd. no barking from the dogs, no smog. and momma cooked a breakfast with no hog. I got my grub on, but didn't pig out. finally got a call from a girl wanna dig out the door i go.  Walking down the street i take a left, slug this dude, then look up and notice some pink neon.  Off i go cuz I know this cant be bad.  40 bucks? Sure ive got that. Whoo boobs, nice.  I can grab?  Whats this meter? Your place? Sure. Whew that almost got me off down the road. Ive got some money left over, want a ride? Lets go some where dark. ok, now give me my money back. Ut oh cops. Zip. Whats this Am-U-Na-Shon. One knife please. Now lets head north through the country and get some loot. Hmm a lake. Hmm a boat. Lets get in the boat and go for a ride.  Ooh the water is nice. I bet if there is a river it could go to the ocean. aye a river. ROCKS! RAPIDS! Wahoooo! Ah yes the ocean. I wonder how far i can go? Man these waves are getting big. Whats that orange thing on the map? I better dive in and check it out. OH CRAP SHARK! cmere shark lets see how you take this right hook. cmere.

I'm IN,

found it an overall improvement on GTA 4  so far.   I don't play Xbox hardly at all but I've played all the GTA games from the start and it is the only game that my mrs will sit down and play with me.   I only get tossed the controller when it gets to the shooting / hard bits.    :D

So far what I like is the increased customization of vehicles, difficulty of evading cops increased along with the characters.

Dislike the radio. Repeats more than  RL radio :rofl
Vice city, San Andreas and 3 had better music.
Love how you can slow time down and switch between players

Hopefully it comes out on cp :pray

yep the detail is stunning,  the cars drive better.   The AI is aggressive now too I've been rammed back on the highway!    We saw the police having a shoot out with AI, in the road they all died,  ambulance shows up starts working on the bodies then the traffic got annoyed and ran the medical staff over and the mangled corpses.

Then Holly decides to accidentally steal the ambulance pressing the wrong button and the medics start attacking her   :lol

Priceless!

I went looking for a plane last night was on the point of giving up,   finally found it after going for a ride in the country on a dirt bike.   Ended up at a airfield strip that I hadn't discovered yet and found the crop duster   :rock

Of course did a textbook landing at the sandy shores airfield and put it in the hangar!

Looks like stall limiter is enabled though.   :uhoh

Story-wise and character-wise, GTA V blows GTA IV out the water. The protagaonists Michael and Trevor are great characters but Franklin seems to lack the depth of the other two. As for the setting and work gone into the map I'd put it at number 1 for effort. The place really feels alive and real because of all the little details. Of all the GTA's I'd put it at least number 3 on my list, close behind San Andreas if not equal to. Still doesn't beat Vice City for me though.

I read that rockstar started off in Scotland and made Lemmings before they started with the GTA series.   Never knew that but the online multi player when it does get released is going to be really neat if they can keep some of the crazy lag and cheats out of it.

So if anyone wants to come and shoot me in the head feel free.  I'll race you!  :D

Let me put in another aspect. As some one who's lived in California the details are practically insanely accurate, from the beaches, LAX, Venice city, the la river, city out skirts, sunset strip, it's spectacular.
Not o mention the game has waves. But honestly for anyone else who lives in la rocks far did an awesome job

And of the 3'characters micheals my favorite followed by Trevor.

As for other GTA's it's top 3 as well.
Now if they just re do vice city as well then omg it would be epic.

Rockstar North are still based in Edinburgh, they make all the GTA's here. They have a massive office and the whole thing has a massive GTA V poster round the entire building. It says "GTA V - Made in Edinburgh". The guy who started it is from Dundee I think.

It's amazing there is all sorts of stuff to do. Last night I took Michael and flew a blimp all the way up North, landed on the beach, went into town and stole a car and drove to the cable car. Took the cable car up to the summit. Grabbed a dirt bike which happened to be up there, rode down the mountain and all around the North but the territory is still huge. Beautiful scenery as well. Rode the dirt bike all the way back home.

I am thinking you can jump on a train as well to hitch a ride but have not tried.

By the way don't fly over the military base or they sill shoot you down.

Some of the news you hear and just other sayings and tidbits are really funny.

Oh and I as Michael shot and kilt a mountain lion with my pistol last night while driving up in the mountains on a dirt bike.

Im not sure how how mutiplayer will work.

Would any of you guys care to get together if its possible? Time, room, or clan.

I am turned off by ps3 cheats and stone cold killers.  I think with you folk, at least the cheats will be eliminated.

I think there was some talk of dedicated servers, if that is true then lag will be much reduced and depending on what they use to monitor the games they could also then eliminate most of the cheats.

Can't believe you completed already TGG did you take a GTA holiday or something???

I spoke to some dude campaigning for weed and it went into a drug induced haze with aliens trying to control my mind and You had to gattling gun them.    :lol   after 5 minutes of shooting them.   I was like   :noid

I got story completion on the 19th at 11:30pm. There's only 69 missions of them, most can be done in 10 or so mins.

it annoyingly lacking, there's so much more they could have done to utilise the crews and the dog...

After you drive into the airport and steal a regional jet, fly to the beach below the cable car.  I found a paddle tired dune buggy on the road in front of the beach houses. now drive up the mountain!  :x
OMG it was so much fun.  :joystick: I made it way up there then made a bad move near some rocks, fell into this nasty cliff and blew up (man i thought i had saved it but boom LOL).

SPOILERS!!!!! Don't Read if you don't want spoilers!!

You have been warned  :devil

While the game isn't perfect. It is definitely #1 for 2013 and probably for it's genre for a few years to come. I agree that it could've had more content and story development (for franklin especially) however, I think they will be releasing DLCs. And considering they made over X4 times the profit, they can easily supply the dlcs. IF GTA V ever comes to PC I'm going to get it. Or I'll wait a few years for 360s or ps3s to become cheaper, and I'll get me one and then get GTA V :)

But seriously, great game. Love the ending (option A)

Also if you buy the airport hangar, the cops will leave you alone unless you drive a car or walk onto the runways. I also learned trying to steal the jet from Fort Zancudo that if the engine of a plane is damaged it will fail over time. Not a good thing to happen if you have a hostile jet on your 6. :rofl

Take the small access road and bust through the gate at full speed. Take the first right. then the first left. veer to the right so you can make a hard left into the first hanger.  Jump in the jet and hammer the gas.  Pull up early and let the thrust lift you. Gear Up  :airplane:

Me too!!! Though, most of them if you park far enough away, they will still be there.

I also found out, if you mod the character's default vehicles, those changes are permanate to the vehicle even if you lose it. So when you go back to the safe house, the new vehicles are changed as well.

If the car is not nearby, check the impound lot as well. Sometimes the game is quite quick about swooping your cars there if it thinks you left them in the middle of the road.

Something i realized early on.

Los santos is the same name of the main city of san Andreas.

The ballas ( prob spelt wrong) same gang

There is a grove street.

Also mention of the state of san andreas.

Really they just eliminated the other two citys. Changed the country side. Made it an island.

Also there is talk of liberty city on the radio kinda neat.

I greatly enjoy driving around each area of the city looks uniqe and man the ai are quite amusing at times.

Good game as far as the gta's go. I enjoy the 3 characters. What you can do in the game ie golf. Darts and tennis. And there is so much detail in the oddest places. Wait till u have scuba gear and find a sunken ship wreak to explore. Or go hunting with a rifle. The strangers and freaks missions are amusing. Oh the random events ie he stole my wallet help are fun.

3. Played some tennis
4. Smoked some weed and killed a bunch of aliens as they tried to abduct me while I was on my high
5. Took a light walk down Mt. Chiliad
6. Stole my gold-digger psychologist's car and wrecked it to a million pieces as I drove to my old friend Lester's place
7. Made some diddlyin' paper

I hate all of those (of course).

Forza horizon great alternative without prostitutes drive bys & all that other crap.
But you can get your money back if you kill them!

/yes, while hunting elk :(
was that right after the mission as you were walking back towards the parking lot where you started the mission? If so, i had an attack there as well, but I heard it coming and shot him dead just as he was jumping in the air towards me.

Played GTAO last night. Wow, I havent had that much fun in some time (laughing like  wittle gurl).  To much to remember, tho my favorite so far is "top gun".  One side gets fighter jets, the other crotch rockets.  the bike must deliver a package, the jets must stop them.

:old: :joystick: :x :rock :aok

4. Smoked some weed and killed a bunch of aliens as they tried to abduct me while I was on my high

lol I walked in on my roommate playing this part of the game and I was so damn amazed I went and bought the game myself.

Now I am spending nights on GTA knocking people out.

Just sneak up behind someone and whack them, its the funniest thing ever.

And you get better stats for it as well. The characters are pretty interesting. I remember switching to Trevor and him waking up in a dumpster wondering like how the heck he got there.

When I switched to Trevor one time, he was in his underwear laying on the railroad tracks as a train came bearing down on him. Every cut-scene with Trevor has been highly entertaining for me because you just never know what he is going to say or do next.

Well I got GTA5. What I did on the weekend:

1. Robbed a jewelry store
2. Destroyed my competitor's meth lab so I could retain my customers
You owe me a keyboard, beer does not go well spewed all over it. They are easily available on Ebay. Plus Rockstar should send you a voucher or something because you damm well sold another GTA5 and you owe my wife because I'm broke and am using her card to buy it!
You've a lot to answer for!

Had one time switching to Trevor and he was chasing a car along the LS river yelling that he was sorry for showing them "His thingie"

As for GTA:O I will be waiting for the eventual PC version/port to be joining in on the online part of the game :)

I've tried a few times to get on GTA Online with no success. Not sure if I like the character creation part. Seems too clunky and I honestly don't care what my grandparents, or parents look like for that matter.

online only started on Oct 1st. However, I heard both of the servers (ps3/xbox) crashed on the 1st because of the amount of people all trying to get on them at the same time.

I still haven't even tried it yet though. I do ok though that I had to download a patch last night, so that have something to do with it.

There are still some minor stability issues on 360 and probably PS3 as well.

It wasn't that the servers crashed, it's simply that they didn't correctly anticipate how many servers they would need and didn't have enough available on launch day, in addition to several bugs that prevented players from starting, or finishing the tutorial.

It was a pretty awful launch, but in a game like this  and such a massive project being undertaken for the first time, it should be expected. Online is basically one huge beta until things are fully figured out and functional. Overall, it already has some insane potential for a group of friends.

The patch for 360 fixed a lot of the tutorial bugs and 'connecting to online session' bugs that prevented a lot of people from playing, among other things.

For PS3, there have been a few patches to fix server stability and some other issues.

It seems to be half-decently good for me now on PS3.  My biggest issue has been occasional inability to get missions.  Just means I get to run around in free roam for a while.

The loss of character/progress glitches are pretty scary though.

The inability to get through the tutorial was probably the worst of it that I saw.

Here's what gets me though: They have $1bn in sales in a few days.  Based on that, safe to say over 17 million copies sold in between release and Oct 1.  I'm sure it's more, but I fail at google today.

One of the early issues was that the PSN had some kind of cap on concurrent users that wasn't allowing people to connect.  How does something that significant slip through the cracks at that level of game development?  Nobody at Rockstar thought to pick up the phone to their contact at Sony and say something to the effect of, 'Hey... we just broke all sales records.  Around 17 million people are probably going to be wanting to go online with the game in a couple weeks, is that going to be an issue?'

Yet it didn't get caught until after release.  That just boggles my mind.

I'm looking forward to it though.  It's been pretty fun thus far, although it's seemed to me to feel a lot like DayZ at times.  If you're within range of other players in free roam you're likely about to get shot at.

Wiley.

I see you follow the Thrila mantra of playing GTA, he whacks every passer by for the fun of it!

I had a 3 day bender last week,  we planned a great raid on the military base and got the jet out.   Can now rocket vulch the international airport at will Trevor loves it!

I think my Hangars at sandy shores have more hardware than their military base now!

I hooked up with some guys last night and we played quite a few rounds of top gun.

The trick is for the runners to hop on the dirt bike and immediately make a hard left to get on the dirt road that goes around the military base.  Then use the mountains on the North end to jump into the base.  Now drive around and get in one of the remaining jets.  hehe now the game is DOGFIGHT with cannon and sidewinders, woot woot.  This is if your opponent does not vulch you on takeoff... :lol

how is multiplayer?

I've only heard bad things,  completing a mission then people stealing your pocket money.     2 hours to load a game?

It might keep the G/F quiet so I can play AH more!

not many problems really (ps3). I have seen some guys lagging, but a majority of guys are strait.

It does take time to find a group to roll with because of how jobs are created, and the limited number of people in the open play session.  This leads one to join quick jobs to find action.
Then with time intrest fades in the group you have to go back to the open play and redo the quick join to rally a large group again.  the three quick join options separate the individuals by intrest tho everyone eventually wants something fresh and different.  The voting on the next job is a fun feature to keep the group going, and it is almost necessary considering how jobs are put together.  A good "crew" could alleviate the time and stress of keeping a good group together.

Im sure with time the cheats, hacks, and all stars will have there way.  but as for now its a blast.

Top fun three has the f-16s chasing down red bull racer planes.  its quite fun.  :joystick: :airplane:

Saw my first and second cheater today, didn't take em long. The first deathmatch (lvl1+) you participate in, had a level 4 with an assault rifle. Another level 2 had a sniper rifle.

The survival missions give the most paper, 20k if you survive. As opposed to a few thousand for anything else. I only just hit lvl18 myself.

You can drop your weapon and have a buddy pick it up, but let's just jump straight to the cheater conclusion.

I've only seen this game on youtube 'Angy Joe' review.  It looks pretty cool.  If I can find a way to save some
cash, I will buy it.

I think that although the multiplayer is a little buggy, it's still a solid buy if you like the GTA series games. It's best played with a friend or a group of friends, but you can still meet people and have a good time.

The single-player has a good, 3-way storyline woven together with great action and plenty of things to do with lots of areas to explore.

Overall, I'm quite happy with this purchase. GTA seldom has let me down.

Anybody else just drop a helicopter for every mission? I'm not drivin through 10 mins of traffic to go pick up a dump truck, that's for the birds.
All for the getaway driving and gunning but lil too much errand driving I guess, kinda feels like elder scrolls on wheels.

Hopefully for the next gta they re edit the dialogue and remove 80% of the f words used...I know they're not supposed to be classy people but dam.

Been playing online last couple days and I hope they do something about player kicking. Here on aces high after somebody vulches ya, u can track em down and exchange the favor even if it means running straight through a bunch of their buddies to get to em. GTAV seems the group can just decide to boot ya.
Some times I can be a dick dropping SUV's on people with a cargobob, but to get kicked on a separate occasion for killing a few spawn campers for getting the better of em. The online play is fun but the game's kick option is lame.
