Going to post all tutorial videos here from now on. Videos will cover everything from the basics like how to control your plane, takeoff and landing, and basic dot commands to some more advanced stuff such as ACM, throttle control, and flying defensively.
Here's some basics to help you get started!
Basics: How to control your aircraft.

Basics: Takeoffs and Landings.

Basics: Text Buffer and Radio Channels

More to come very soon!

Latrobe I ran into you a couple of days ago flying a 109 low and slow, it was a great tutorial. I was amazed watching you fight against two or three others. I just hope I don't show up in one titled "what not to do". :salute

a nice job, I spent close to 40 years giving flight instruction, are you working from a teaching plan or script or are you winging it as you progress? You may want to produce a short video on the four fundamentals. This would provide much needed background information to the user and fill in some of the gaps. Your videos as developed are more or less a do as I do, with the user not having an understanding of the relationship between airspeed and control input. The result of which is they may or may not have the same result as you and with no clear understanding as to why?

I'm pretty much just winging this like every thing else I do. :) When I get time to work on a tutorial I'll go ahead and make it. What are the four fundamentals you are talking about?

The four fundamentals are the four things you can do with an aircraft.
1. climb
2. descend
3. roll left or right
4. straight and level
The teaching plan or lesson plan would explain the relationship of how the controls effect power and attitude and how as a result the aircraft climbs or descends or rolls left or right or remains straight and level. How power and attitude together results in a given performance (airspeed). As an example, one needs excess power and the right pitch attitude to climb and how we use gauges in the aircraft to fine tune our control of engine power. There are a lot of write ups on the internet, just look up aviation flight training and the four fundamentals. It's always been part of the first lesson plan for primary flight students.

I don't understand all the little detailed and technical stuff like that. I probably will go over those things in future videos but I'll probably be explaining it in a different way (the dumbed down version because I'm not that smart :) )

It's not detailed technical stuff, it's the four fundamentals and it's already dumbed down. but it's called the fundamentals for a reason, oh well, good luck.

I think you underestimate just how dumb I am. :D

I'm just hoping to appear in a future video...well, maybe I'm not *that* eager...but still.... :D
-
I think you should skip to the more advanced stuff... That's what most of us really want to see! :D

But then that leaves all the new guys just trying to figure out how to start up the game. Have to start somewhere, the basic of basics sounded like a good starting point. :D

:aok :aok good job. keep it up.

Great job Latrobe. Now if Htc could post this on the website

HTC has already said anyone with a Utube channel can link to HTC's Utube channel.
Latrobe,I agree we can use all the basic stuff in video, like you said it really helps the new guys. Now if we can find a way to get the new guys to find this stuff as easy as possible.
Good stuff,keep it up!

The only issue I see is how does the new guy find all your training videos . You might want to create a WIKI page "Latrobe's Tutorial Videos" There on that Wiki page you could link and list all the pointers to the different Youtube videos. I'm sure the Wiki Master, who ever that is, will let you have one page.

Latrobe the term flat turn is not interchangeable with break turn even though you often do both together. A break turn is a max performance turn, out of plane with the bandit. If the bandit is wings level then rolling 90 degrees and putting your lift vector on the horizon would be correct because your plane of maneuver (lift vector) is now perpendicular to the bandit's plane of maneuver. If the bandit is flat turning your break turn would be vertical. It's like guns defense, ideally you want your lift vectors perpendicular but anything other than similar is good.

Ah, Thanks FLS! See this is the difference between someone who knows what they're talking about and someone who just flies by the seat of their pants. :) :aok :salute

Finally finished this one up. Advanced stuff now! Throttle Control! :aok

Nice films Latrobe...
(The 109 compressibility is neutered by the K key.
I blame Combat Trim)

Nice! I learned a couple tricks from this one.. Could you do a video about the Merge, and/or how to approach or avoid an opponent? Maybe something on how to judge an opponent's E state?

Should be a sticky. Well done.
