You're almost as annoying as Piers. :old:

Given that he's just been sacked, I'd have said it was the other way round.
You know seeing as neither country wants him, perhaps we could compromise.....let's say we drop him off mid-Atlantic?
-
Maybe we could send him to Canada as revenge for sending us Justin Bieber?
-
Bieber's father just left his wife so he can party with Justin. Now you have 2 Biebers to contend with. :neener:

Piers wanted to come to Canada but we showed him pix of snow banks, tundra and polarbears, then we told him just south of us he'd find, and we showed him pix of the beach, pretty girls, nice cars and fancy eateries.
The rest is history! :devil
Rumour has it Justin's Mom want to move next door to the Kardashians!
:salute

I implore the BBC NOT to employ Piers on their network.
BBC America is available in the US and has many shows that I really enjoy, one being Top Gear.
I think we have two countries that have gotten tired of him. Let him find a new wrag to write for that we won't read.
-
The american top gear is god awful and should have never been aired, the british top gear is the stuff.

Bluberry I agree completely.
-
American remakes of British shows are rarely as good, except for The Office, where the American version was good. So many great British shows:
Piece of Cake
The IT Crowd
The Tutors
Absolutely Fabulous
Dr. Who (at least the new one)
Downton Abbey
Gormenghast
Monty Python
Top Gear
To the Ends of the Earth
and probably a lot of others that aren't occurring to me at the moment.
But as to Piers Morgan, he is good to have here in America as a focus for useful arguments. He can hold up points of view, and opposing guests can thoroughly illuminate them as foolishness.
However, since Britain apparently doesn't want him back, perhaps to keep him we can extract some extra benefit. How about an agreement to keep him, but we also get Douglas Murray ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dBzslDdQ_g )?

Top Gear UK is the best, but you should have a look at the show "RoadKill". It's the only other "car" show I really like and the best part is the guys who do the work are the hosts.

This board needs a 'like' button.

Oh Yes please.....
I hear her voice on the TV and cringe.... put her side kick Jane Valez-Mitchell on the rocket as well.

Ok, I admit I don't know what this is about with Pierce, even though I watch CNN regularly. What happened?

Let's not forget Red Dwarf...

Ok, I admit I don't know what this is about with Pierce, even though I watch CNN regularly. What happened?
CNN was going to fire Piers because of low viewership.
Piers, anticipating the end, said, "OK, now that the game is up, I might as well admit it. I've been using my position to promote socialism, to gloss over its glaring flaws amply shown by history, and to spread disinformation about freedom, free markets, and the other founding values of the US. It seems that this was my undoing."
Hearing this, CNN immediately issued a statement: "Knowing that he shares the core values and goals of CNN, we can no longer fire Piers regardless of ratings or viewership. We are happy and proud to announce that we are keeping him as a valued member of the CNN team."
;)

I've heard that it is great, but it's one that I've not yet seen. I'll have to rectify that deficiency at some point. :aok

Careful, Brooke... The walls have ears. Dislcaimer: In no way am I implying that Piers Morgan is a property rights-abrogating collectivist piece of dim-witted scum, nor that he or CNN have any interest in framing the National Debate.
Oh for the days when they'd come right out and join the CPUSA... Damn fabians...

No one watched his show. He had a brief spike in ratings (for him) with some "guns are bad" schtick but it quickly fizzled. Seems he's burned all his bridges at home with his cell phone hacking tabloid trash before the Brits unleashed him on us.

Yes, I know. I have seen parts of some episodes, so that lifts me off zero, but only infinitesimally so. I shall work on rectifying this egregious state of affairs. :salute

PJ_Godzilla, you live in Ann Arbor, I see. A great town. I'm a U of M alumnus.

Me too - I'm a triple alum: two from UM, one from Stanford. My dream is that the two face off in the Rose Bowl some day. I won't be able to win - but I won't be able to lose either.
Red Dwarf: Netflix carries every single episode. I'm a bit of an Arnold J. Rimmer fan, myself. I think you'll generally find that most people identify with Rimmer, Lister, the Cat, or Crichton.
Ann Arbor is a great town, although it can grate. Consider if F.A. Hayek lived in Madison, WI...

I would not be able to have the same dream. I did my grad work at Caltech, and I don't think that they will ever make it to the Rose Bowl. I liked Stanford a lot when Harbaugh was the coach. :)
I am a big fan of Hayek (and Thomas Sowell). I have the same issue living near Seattle (and previously San Francisco and LA). I'm definitely an outsider with respect to economic philosophy, among other things.
I miss Zingerman's and the Blue Nile.

I just live there. I work in "Dearbern" for the Blue Oval. That one, and Day-twa, are an even more foreign brand of "other side" for me. I think of Detroit as a City Stuck on Stupid. BTW, Everybody I've met from CalTech was pretty damned proficient. Given that you live near Seattle, I'm going to guess Boeing. My boss - a Director here - is a former Boeing weights guy. It was a long time ago but he was 737. You could say we like to steal talent from there.

I worked for Chevy Engineering for a few years as a summer student while I was an undergrad at U of M. It was a great experience working there. I grew up in Troy, Michigan; so I share your dismay concerning the state that it's in and can amaze my coworkers with Detroit stories. :) There is a good book "Detroit: An American Autopsy," by Charlie LeDuff (a Pulitzer-Prize winner when he worked at the NY Times but fell out with its leftist agenda and went back to Detroit, where he was from, to write for the Detroit News and to work on a novel compilation of his Detroit experiences).
I'm in biotech, but there are a lot of Boeing and Microsoft folks around the area.

Thank you Uncle Teddy!

FYI, Brooke, I took the wife and daughter to Blue Nile just an hour or so ago. You'll still see the Ethiopian owner there every night, acting as host. The lamb and spicy chicken is still kick in'. The worst part - and file this under tmi - it takes two showers to lose the smell. We go there about twice a year... Best tea, ever.

Mmmmm. I love that place, including the incredible tea. My favorite is the all-you-can-eat platter of everything . . . and tea! :aok
For smell . . . many spices and aromatics (such as from onions and garlic), after you digest them, are in your blood. So, you can't wash off the smell. It is with you until your liver metabolizes it. :)

That's the "Ethiopian feast" which sounds like an oxymoron. That's what we always get but we add the lamb and salad. My wife is a big fan of lamb, the best of which, our experience, you can get in the odd little corner called Iceland. Anyway, I reckon they've got a good business model, based on that menu. It takes all the complexity out of their cooking. You make ten pots of stuff every night and get good at it. Everybody orders the feast. The kitchen knows what to do and just adjusts the volume based on experience and night of the week.
Anyway, if you're ever in town, dinner at BN is on me. Just let me know. You can probably teach me some tactics. I think I've mastered the 109 dive, fire, zoom, roll, dive repeat routine against turnier birds with an alt disadvantage but could use a little help learning to reverse the situation against mr. Spitty when he's co-E.
-
That's a very kind offer, and I appreciate it. I'd love to meet up with you if I visit Ann Arbor. I'm not sure if I can teach you anything special, though -- I'm not at the level of Bruv, Latrobe, DrBone, etc.
