The thing that gets me with that clip...when it is diving in..it is almost like you are about to go underwater.....but pulls up just short....just like a log flume ride

Are you guys aiming to have whitecaps in the final version of the water?

As it is now, i turn off the detailed water and use Bump map to give an easier to see water when fighting over water.

I sure like the look of the new water if that contrast can be seen from the plane like during a split S to keep it from becoming a splat S.  NOEs would be neat.

Nope, it was gonna be a surprise, but actually floating miniature sheep  :bolt:

Based on this plus all the previews of the upcoming terrain changes, (but mostly based upon the pile of sick   :uhoh next to my computer after viewing) I shall dub the next version Aces High Dramamine  :rolleyes:  Excellent work fellas and thanks for sharing.  :aok

Guys I think these graphics updates are being demonstrated on a very basic system.  Skuzzy posted that comment in one of the earlier preview threads.

Dont be scared  :D

It sounds like HT is coding graphics differently that will call for less resources.  This update may run better on your machine than the current version does.  :aok

If the new graphics is leveraging Shader 3.0. All DX9c compliant video cards can run this. If you look around on the internet there are many water demo's showing the abilities of Shader 3.0. I'm hoping what Hitech is doing will reduce the load on our graphics cards.

Not really. I don't mind the updates.  But not everyone can afford to upgrade computers.  If it got to the point to where I couldn't play, I'd just wait until I could afford a new computer.  Right now with me driving an hour every day to finish up my BS, that's not going to happen.

Just watched Cars II tonight.  How neat would it be to have water like that in the opening scene.  No telling how much computer power it would take to run that.  Rough ditching though.

An added curiosity, how will it interact with the current (no pun intended) underwater tiles?  Some of these tiles (hope I am using the correct terrain term) have provided some very exotic illusions of changes in water color, coral reefs, beaches and shorelines.

Regardless of whether or not some of the current effects from maps like Grinder, would disappear, this is a remarkable improvement.  I guess, my hopes are that the water engine or injun  :headscratch: (dumbfounded about how this is all achieved) is displayed as a reflective opaque surface.

In the video, which I am about to watch again (this time with my motion sickness pill  :x ) I am going to pay more attention to the zoom in and out effects.  Also, the closeups, at first viewing, appeared to be reflective of clouds (was I mistaken?).

{edit}

After another look, the sky, sun and horizon all look to be very realistically reflective (in and out of zoom).  So, if I am right, the reflections would be an opaque masque that produces the wonderfully desirable 3D motion presented in the video, yet preserving the underwater tiles.  (Very pleasing to me = Chesapeake Bay area resident).

Undecided at this point, the effects you are speaking of are the next piece of the water development.

Thanks for the explanation, there are so many aspects to what we get to see the end result of  :O and don't have a clue how it's achieved. :headscratch:

In any case, my imagination about bleeding colors from sea floor, skies, clouds or sunlight don't amount to a hill of beans.  I just will have to wait to see what flavor HTC decides to place on it.  I am sure it will be of the highest standard for gameplay.  :salute
