OK, even though I have had many wonderful hours of fun playing AH, I didn't realize they have, what I would call a unfair policy if and when you have to cancel your subscription.
I had to cancel my subscription, temporarily for money reasons, being retired and on a fixed income, I need to carefully pick where my monthly money goes, and in April the Feds needed 1400 dollars of that money.
I still had 7 days left on my subscription, but HTC has a policy (I didn't know), that once you end your subscription, no matter how much time you have already paid for they won't let you play.
I would say this is unfair and close to stealing a customer's money.
IMO, sorry, just beware...

The game warns you if you cancel your account with remaining time on the subscription.
edit: Or at least it used to, unless something has changed.

What your leaving out is that it warned you, it makes you aware that your account has x number of days remaining on it when you cancel your subscription.
Why would it warn you about time remaining on your account when canceling a subscription if it was still going to give you access afterwords.
You canceled your account 7 days to early and then come here and complain, gtf outta here.
-
The game does warn you about it and if you call in, we also warn you about it. If you send us an email to delete your account, we send an email back making sure it is understood when it is deleted, it is closed instantly.
We do our best to leave it up to the player to make an informed decision.

I there a way for players in similar situations to put their account on hold like stopping home mail service when you are out of town? Might help someone going through a bad patch.

You call and/or email them. :aok

Just stop paying for food, works for me.

Ask them to stop withdrawing funds as of such-n-such date since you need to cancel your account. Works every time.
If you leave an amusement park after a certain time (posted on signs) they no longer stamp your hand for re-admission. You paid for the whole day and you're stuck in the parking lot. Did they steal your money too?
You just can't fix stupid sometimes.

HT has always been of the highest honor when concerning accounts and money... :aok

We should all chip in and pay the 4 dollars. I can't get a week of cable tv for 4 dollars. :headscratch:

My wish is that they could somehow put an account on "hold"--not allowing a player into the online arenas until they resume pay. I know absolutely nothing about the coding and all the work that goes into the game, but that doesn't seem like it would be a difficult task. Under the current system, if you can't pay for your account for a month, or decide to take a break for a few months, you have to cancel your account, which means you lose all squad affiliations and perk points. I, for one, take a lot of breaks from AH, and it becomes a nuisance having to basically start over every time I decide to come back. :bhead

Have you honestly called and/or emailed them to try and work some kind of arrangement? :headscratch:

On multiple occasions. I've always been told there was currently no way to put an account on hold.

But if you could do that much more of us would stop paying for a month or two ,and keep all our perks and ect. HTC would rather you just keep paying.

HE CANCELLED HIS ACCOUNT,BUT STILL WANTED TO PLAY..if you cancelled your water or electricity.do you think they are still let you use it,NO
-
Somehow I think a bottle of fine scotch sent to a particular address and a note begging for a few hundred perk points for your pathetic little cartoon ego may get you somewhere. Or.... maybe not. Try it and find out. ;)
May I suggest Johnny Walker Green Label, if you can find it. :aok
Good luck. :salute

That is why I said that this was MY wish as it pertained to ME. But, what he is saying is that he was already billed for that month, meaning he believed he should be able to continue flying until that pay period.

I'm not so sure this comparison is correct.
You pay 15$ in advance for one month playing AH. While it may tell you when you cancel that there's still X days left, it's kinda strange (mildly said) the account is terminated immdeately (and dropping all your remaining time) instead of ending access on the day the subscription actually runs out.
I admit I haven't played that many online games with a subscription, but everyonee I did was handling things that way - you retain your access for the while time period you had payed for. I was very surprised (to word it mildly) AH did handle the things differently. Also anything I have ever subscribed to beyond online games was handling things like that.
AH could use a much better handling of these things, inclusive an interface where you can look up more details like when your next billing happens or how much time you have left after canceling subscription.

I agree lusche, but I simply have not had the time to implement it the system where you account is closed on it's bill date. At some point I also wish to change over to the now normal email for account id.

So in the end FL had a legit complaint (If not worded a bit more harshly then hitech would have) and hitech agreed with it.

Not really imo. It does warn you that your account will be permanently deleted. I agree with Lusche that it is not an ideal setup.

FL3, message me your physical mailing address, and I'll send you check for a month of AH.
A retired guy on fixed income who puts AH up there as a hobby is my kind of guy. :aok

I hope this helps, I too am on a fixed income. I live on a budget and I learned a long time ago, especially with the Government, that when an unexpected tax bill or any bill comes along, I stick with my budget and pay them the best I can over time. You could have paid AH the 14.95 and sent the Government the 1400, minus 14.95. They would have sent you a new bill showing that you still own 14.95.

Awww come on Grizz! Want me to pay a month for you? :D
