Title: So...
Post by: Zacherof on April 08, 2014, 06:45:32 PM
Been busy as hell. Between my lovely girlfriend and combat school I haven't the time to be here as much.
So how's everyone doing?

Ah, yeah. Gotta break 30% on the ASVAB to have options.  ;)

LOL!  :aok

The Navy wanted me to be a nuclear engineer and stick me on a sub or carrier.  Minimum 6 year enlistment, plus I would glow in the dark for the next 30 years.  I wanted to be a SEAL, but I could get a guaranteed Ranger contract, as long as I passed all the required schools.  Will always be extremely happy with my choice. :aok

Sounds like your ASVAB score wasn't so bad, after-all. Amarillo AFEES insisted I take that test. I had my heart on Naval aviation. Took a half arsed stab and was told I (Agent Smart voice) missed it by that much (/Agent Smart voice). On hindsight, I probably shoulda gave it a better try. Lots of 'Nukes' landed decent civilian jobs in the industry. Kudos to them.

Land nav, basic medicine(including picking people up, or dragging with full kit IE body armour, and other stuff)
M9/M4 training)being taught to shoot combat techniques, as oppose to marksmanship, but we do learn that. Identifying IED's, emergency egress of emraps, and humvee's, and using basic maneuvers in a firefight.

You can discharge a man from the Army, but you can never take the soldier out of him

You can discharge a USAF pilot from the USAF, but you'll never take the airman out of him.

You can discharge a man form the Navy, but you can never take the seamen out of him.  :)

When going through the recruitment process to join the USMC my recruiter looked at my ASVAB scores and told me I could do pretty much whatever I wanted.

So I went infantry  :rock

same here, they said I could do whatever I wanted due to my score but that they would try to push me into nuclear. I can't remember what my score was though.

A Navy recruiter told me in high school that my ASVAB scores said I could do anything I wanted.  If I joined the Navy I would see the world and have a great time.  I asked him if that's what the sailors at Pearl Harbor were doing.  He didn't come back.
