"The Pacific War" scenario runs on Saturday's in June.
I'm flying torpedo bombers for Japan. We are the swords of the Emperor.
We will be hunting the big fish, with names like "Enterprise", "Hornet", and "Yorktown".
We will see silver traces of our torpedo wakes near islands named "Midway", "Santa Cruz", and "Oahu".
We will see sights like this:

And when we die, it will be as heroes.
Who is with me?
Who will be a sword of the Emperor?
Come fly with me, samurai of the air! Fly for glory!

Torpedo bombing in scenarios is not the same as in the Main Arena.
In scenarios, auto ack is turned way, way down, and there is no 5" or quad 40 mm manned ack.
That means you get in there close and knife those enemy ships in the kidneys.
I've scored 14 torpedo hits in past scenarios and sank 6 ships. Anyone who is with me, I will teach you how to do the same thing. :aok

I'm not sure if my work schedule will allow me to fly in the scenario, but I would really like to do this! I'm quite fond of the Japanese plane set, would love to learn more.

<S>
If your schedule ends up allowing it, please register and join us! <S>
If it's uncertain, and you can show up maybe for some days and not others, please show up as what is called a "walkon" and join us! <S>
Walkons are folks who show up on game day but who didn't register (generally because they weren't sure which frames they'd be able to play in).
-
Well, I just registered... Picked IJN. If my schedule is too crazy, I will ask for at least one day off and fly at least one frame. These are all friday nights, yes?
-
Didnt I fly with you in BOB Brook? I'll fly a torp plane.
-

This is all Saturdays in June. Noon Pacific, 3:00 pm Eastern. They run for about 3-1/2 hours.
-
Ok if HTC unlocks Kamikazes (for this scenario only ofc) ! :rock

Are you with me in torpedo bombers?
-
"This Day in WWII: Battle of Coral Sea" ran today.
B5N's cleaned up with 1 ship kill in the 3 pm running (giving the IJN the win) and 3 ship kills in the 10 pm running (giving the IJN the win).

I flew in Brookes bomber on a SEC as a gunner and he was looking at me in a inappropriate manner :rofl
I am in :)

That sounds like fun! I am relatively new but if you will have me, I am there! What if anything do I need to do to participate?

Go to ahevents.org (http://ahevents.org) and register under events/scenarios/current or next scenario, or just to make it easy on you, go directly to the registration page http://ahevents.org/scenario-registration.html (http://ahevents.org/scenario-registration.html)
Looking forward to seeing you in the scenario.
These are well organized events with some prepractice, if you can make the practices, and as was stated earlier, run on Saturdays in June at 12:00 Pacific and 3:00 Eastern time, and go for about three and one half hours.
-
Would love to attend but June is going to be busy. That said I'd like to try a walkon or more if able. Any registration needed for walkon? And are you going to be doing any torpedo practice/instruction ahead of time I could attend?

Typically the practice is for registered players, the reason for this is a walkon isn't guaranteed to be placed on a specific side. Walkons are usually asked if they have a preference, but sometimes they just have to fill up a side that is showing a lower number. Practicing for one side and ending up on another is not always smiled upon :D
However, if you really do want to fly for a specific side, go ahead and register if you think you can make 2 or 3 frames. There will always be room. The event is designed to increase the registration numbers if we start to press the current limit.

seems a little uneven to me like sitting ducks-taking away 5" guns and quad 40mm's,esp since they had them on the very ships your attacking in WWII...i may be wrong--but thats just me.

Ahh, its ok though, we gave the other side planes to shoot the incoming torpedo bombers down with. There are plenty of guns left on the ships, just not the big and nasty ones. They still do quite a bit of damage and are more than capable of taking down torpedo planes. With that, there are also PT boats that can be deployed, also with guns.
We did take this all into consideration, counted bullets and ordinance, and balanced it out.

Wooohoooo! :aok With Zack, we are unstoppable!
-
i may be wrong.
Come fly torpedo bombers with us and find out for yourself.
As squadron leader, I will buy a beer for each of my pilots who manages to sink one of those "sitting ducks."
It is the manliest of men and womanliest of women who fly torpedo bombers. We are the swords of the Emperor!

8 inch guns though! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMRcqXZYYbM
I'm going to try to make this. If I can I'll join the empire somewhere, I seem to have good luck with them.
-
Oh the 8" will be on, we have some serious fleet to fleet action in front of us!

Heh! That was my torpedo squadron (762 Kokutai in our Ki-67's) that the 8" was firing at. He was quite a marksman.
A picture of a trio of those 8" shells:

Despite the carnage, I got a torpedo away and a hit on the CV:

You have to hit them first.
When you are in front of them, your guns are facing the wrong way BTW.

No, those that do not learn the lessons taught by history are doomed to repeat it. We have learned.

History is doomed to repeat itself but good luck anyway.
Or at least part of history will repeat itself, in that we plan to sink the Pacific Fleet at Pearl and to sink the Yorktown and Wasp thereafter. ;)

In that picture I think he is saying, "I've got so much crap on I can't even properly cross my arms."

In that picture I think he is saying, "I've got so much crap on I can't even properly cross my arms."
Actually, what he was saying is, "Don't make me uncross my arms and come over there." ;)
-
Actually he is strapped with bombs. If he unfolds his arms BLAM!
Early training for Kamikaze Pilots. He unfortunately taught only one class.
And even then half the class succumbed. Lesson learned.
