That sounds like fun! I am relatively new but if you will have me, I am there! What if anything do I need to do to participate?

Go to ahevents.org and register under events/scenarios/current or next scenario, or just to make it easy on you, go directly to the registration page http://ahevents.org/scenario-registration.html
Looking forward to seeing you in the scenario.
These are well organized events with some prepractice, if you can make the practices, and as was stated earlier, run on Saturdays in June at 12:00 Pacific and 3:00 Eastern time, and go for about three and one half hours.

Would love to attend but June is going to be busy. That said I'd like to try a walkon or more if able. Any registration needed for walkon? And are you going to be doing any torpedo practice/instruction ahead of time I could attend?

Typically the practice is for registered players, the reason for this is a walkon isn't guaranteed to be placed on a specific side.  Walkons are usually asked if they have a preference, but sometimes they just have to fill up a side that is showing a lower number.  Practicing for one side and ending up on another is not always smiled upon  :D

However, if you really do want to fly for a specific side, go ahead and register if you think you can make 2 or 3 frames.  There will always be room.  The event is designed to increase the registration numbers if we start to press the current limit.

Torpedo bombing in scenarios is not the same as in the Main Arena.

In scenarios, auto ack is turned way, way down, and there is no 5" or quad 40 mm manned ack.

That means you get in there close and knife those enemy ships in the kidneys.

I've scored 14 torpedo hits in past scenarios and sank 6 ships.  Anyone who is with me, I will teach you how to do the same thing.  :aok
seems a little uneven to me like sitting ducks-taking away 5" guns and quad 40mm's,esp since they had them on the very ships your attacking in WWII...i may be wrong--but thats just me.

Ahh, its ok though, we gave the other side planes to shoot the incoming torpedo bombers down with.  There are plenty of guns left on the ships, just not the big and nasty ones. They still do quite a bit of damage and are more than capable of taking down torpedo planes.  With that, there are also PT boats that can be deployed, also with guns.
We did take this all into consideration, counted bullets and ordinance, and balanced it out.

i may be wrong.

Come fly torpedo bombers with us and find out for yourself.

As squadron leader, I will buy a beer for each of my pilots who manages to sink one of those "sitting ducks."

8 inch guns though! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMRcqXZYYbM

I'm going to try to make this.  If I can I'll join the empire somewhere, I seem to have good luck with them.

Heh!  That was my torpedo squadron (762 Kokutai in our Ki-67's) that the 8" was firing at.  He was quite a marksman.

A picture of a trio of those 8" shells:

Despite the carnage, I got a torpedo away and a hit on the CV:
