Title: Valve Questions

 :airplane: In the big "iron" engines of WW2 and Korea era, there were two valves which played an important part in the day to day operations of the big bombers, 17's, 24's,29's. One such valve was the "Star" valve! What was its function?

The second one was called a "defliperator" valve, what was it and its function?

Testing my memory here...

I vaguely recall that the star valve isolates the accumulator (hydraulic res) from the manual hand pump system...

:airplane: Correct! It is a "star" shaped valve, by which the flight engineer can manually select landing gear, flaps, turret retraction and usually located just inside the 1st bulk-head in the bomb bay area.

The defliperator valve works like a thermostat does in a auto: It allows oil through to the oil coolers when necessary.
