This Mossie was amazing.. I was more intrigued by the Cockpit of the Mossie more than the outside of it.. Plus it was really hard to get a good picture :P

That I'm not too sure..
The guy who owns this museum, also owns something called the "Fighter Factory" which fixes and restores WW1/2 planes. Any new planes he gets, goes to them. The 190D that is there I don't believe is from the Fighter Factory, but the A8 will be restored at the FF.

The Dulles museum (about 30-60 minutes from Washington DC) is the Udvar-Hazy Museum -- and it is awesome.
It is one of the world's best airplane museums. It might be the 2nd best after the USAF museum in Dayton, Ohio.

Assuming it is the same plane... It was one of three they recovered in various states of ruin. Buried in a Norwegian Fjord, crashed and burned, and in a thousand pieces. What they did to put them back together is a marvel. I saw two of the three. One still in the jigs and one complete.
The goal was to preserve as much of the original aircraft as possible. I think they did a good job.

Yes you can clearly see it is cobbled together with parts from different aircraft. Typical restoration jobs will try to make it look undamaged, but often that means destroying part of its historical value. It's always a balancing act. In this case, where it isn't a single aircraft, but a collection of parts from several 190s they could have done more. However there is also cost to consider.

Btw. I know Texas Air Museum do good work. They did parts of the 190A-3 in our museum here.

Yep. Part of the deal to get the planes out. TAM got two in exchange for restoring that one.

It is my understanding that three were recovered. One was donated to your museum--and was obviously the best restoration of the three.
I have seen the other two. The airframes were bent and mangled. They did what they could with what they had. Probably an issue of funding. I was in awe of seeing a 190 for the first time up close. Not perfect, but certainly a worthy effort.
I believe the pilot of one actually sat in the cockpit after the restoration.

Those are from the military aviation museum in Virginia beach. They keep their planes flying. They have too many planes to name there. They have an air show every summer warbirds over the beach. It's worth the drive to check out the museum.

Yea that airshow is a MUST for everyone to go to at least once. Last summer they brought in a 262 for a flyover. THAT was pretty freaking sweet. lol

They own the 262, it is just not kept at MAM's museum due to the grass runway.

Wish they would move the Hellcat back and down like the way the Corsair and Warhawk are hanging. That pose doesn't give the best of angles and it is blocked from the other side.

Just some of the highlights there. If I recall correctly, Bong had flown that 38 (testing) before he died. Also while I was there, there was a former SR-71 pilot talking about some experiences. Cant recall his name but Callsign Aspen20, the sled fans know some of his stories. Really liked the AR with the Ratos. Behind the Sled (at that time) was the shuttle Enerterprise. It was used for glide testing. Since then, it has been replaced with a real shuttle.
Been to the Air and Space on the mall many many times as a young man. Visiting old friends in Woodbridge Va I had to go see the new museum especially the P-38.

No no it's quite alright. I love seeing and hearing stories of WW2 museums. That P38 and 234 is something else. I've always wanted to see a P38. I'm quite positive the museum here in Virginia Beach will get one at SOME point.
