I know they indicate closure rates, but is there a specific value they represent?
-
It only shows if the player is moving closer to you (-) or away from you (+).

But you can close on a player without the minus symbol, and a player without the plus symbol can pull away from you. There appears to be a specific closure rate that must be hit before these appear, does anyone know what that is?
-
I think the signs begin to show for -/+ 40 mph differences.
-
I believe closure rates have nothing to do with it. It represents greater than or less than the displayed distance for contacts greater than I think 3 or 400 ish. ie: 800+ is closer to 900. 400- is closer to 300.

Nope. If that was the case you'd see the signs constantly changing from - to + to - to + even as someone flies consistently away from you. That simply doesn't happen.
-
The icon range is an approximation, when it says D800 they are in a range between 900yds and 700 yds, aprox! the plus or minus is just and indicator to tell you if you are closing on the bandit or he is moving away from you.
Minus means you are closing, plus means you are gaining.
Now that I've said this I expect Lusche to come in and give the correct and exact measurements! :devil

You mean plus equals increasing separation. :aok

.....Doh,yes I did state that backwards, should have proof read it not just spell check....... :o :o :o

Did you read the replies? + means the distance increasing, - means the distance is decreasing.

Yes, but I knew that already. I'd like to find out what the exact values are.

If you film you can look at the speed differences.
-
There is no specific value. Either your closing or your not, that's it.

Don't forget moving away. There are 3 possible conditions. ;)
I think the OP is asking if there is a minimum speed difference that triggers the +/- signs.

This isn't accurate. You can close on someone without the - symbol appearing.

Yes, you're correct. What speed value triggers the symbols to appear?

:old:
I think so...

This is not correct, you could have as little as 10mph difference and you will still see the symbols. It will just take a little longer before they register.
If you are gaining on the enemy you will see the- symbol, just remember the distance icons are not exactly accurate,at D200 the enemy could be as far as 299 yards or as close as 99 yards, this is why we have the symbols so a player knows if he's gaining or not.

Okay I was just making a random estimate, I'm so used to having guys either dive on me or run at super high speeds and that's what I though it'd be.

I believe you mean 101 meters. 0 meters would represent from 0-100 meters

There are no meters in game :P
Actual distance (yds) - Icon shown:
0 - 99 = d0
100 - 299 = d200
300 - 499 = d400
500 - 699 = d600
700 - 899 = d800
900 - 999 = d1000
1000 - 1250 = d1.0K
1250 - 1750 = d1.5K
1750 - 2250 = d2.0K

For once you're wrong! There is at least one.
The Altimeter :neener:

Thank you for putting up the correct distances,I should have said 299 to 100,not 99 yards.... :o
As for the OP,- means you are gaining on enemy,+ means the enemy is pulling away from you!

I don't think that one lousy yard makes that much of a difference. I doubt anybody will lose a fight because of it :)

We both know that but any misinformation has a way of becoming am urban legend in AH so I try not to contribute to that...... :devil
