Anyone notice how the price of gas stopped dropping on Nov 4, election day and starting climbing back to the higher digits. Its been jumping up a penny a day here, NJ.
-
Up to $2.69 from $2.45 here.
-
Yupp, I noticed. Diesel was €1.45 a litre today instead of @1.37 of last week.
-
It stopped falling in So Cal. It did not go back up.
Holiday travel perhaps?
Or election day gift to the incumbents? Just saying.
-
Still dropping in Kentucky as of 11/14/2014.

Per AAA on 11/10/14 (four days ago and six AFTER the election) the average price has fallen every day for 45 days straight.

It's been stuck at $3.89 here for well over a week.
-
Lowest in the area seems to be $2.88/g
Right off the Interstate you'll pay $2.99/g

well.....duh!!
that said...the guy out front told me that his price is going up about 15 cents a gallon over the next week or so.....

I paid 1.08 cad/L @ Costco, the lowest price in town; x 3.8=4.10 cad/gal divided with 1.139 exchange rate = 3.60 usd/gal
-

1.45 x 3.8 l/gal=5.51 Euros/gal x 1.24 exchange rate = 6.83 USD/gal for diesel ! crazy prices in EU, : :O:confused:
I paid 3.29 usd/gal this week in Texas /Missouri for diesel , about 1.24 cad /L here in Canada, but we take the taxes back;

Why the colonials call Petrol and Gas?
Petrol costs Europeans US$8/gallon. Gas costs us US$3/gallon. Maybe if Europeans called it "gas" they could save over half their cost on fuel until the numerous regulations and taxes got updated to bring the price back up. :aok

Gas in europe means methane, propane, hydrogen etc. gases. Petrol is petrol and gasoline is gasoline. I drive a V8 Mercedes and don't find the 8 bucks a gallon yet too expensive (thats how much high octane gasoline costs).

Lager is German and is for girls :old:

Oil prices likely to fall further, says IEA

"Barring any new supply problems, downward price pressures could build further in the first half of 2015."
I guess we will see :noid :noid :noid

My guess would be gas is short gasoline.
Actually, we may be able to thank Putin for the lower prices. Anyone 2nd that?

Among other reasons, America is the world's largest prouter of petroleum?
Boo

Gas has been dropping in my town, and is continuing to drop as I type this. Started at 3.30 a gallon and it's down to 2.89 right now.
-
The price of gas has continued to fall since I bought a Honda Fit to save gas on the commute..
( Ok, realistically, I bought it for my daughter, but she doesn't need it at college, yet.. I'm just 'breaking it in' ) :devil
It also rains the day after I wash my car.
And, back when I smoked, the meal would arrive the moment I lit up another cigarette.

Gas in europe means methane, propane, hydrogen etc. gases.
In the US, we use the word "gas" for both gases and gasoline, and it's usually clear from context which is which.
-
It's still dropping here. I really don't mind high oil prices. When prices are high drilling companies are going like mad around the clock which means they break stuff and pay me to fix it.
-
You freaks :rofl
The USA is allowed to sell Petrol overseas now that is why the price is dropping :rofl
-
It's going to drop substantially here soon just like it does every winter when we change over to winter blends of gas.
Diesel does the opposite since cheap diesel gels up here in the winter.
-
Up to $2.69 from $2.45 here.
And it dropped back to $2.49-$2.56 here now.
-
it keeps going down here a few pennies a week. last sunday I paid 2.99 now it's 2.95.
semp
-
we were down to 2.85 last week.
now 3.06.

-
Down about 10 cents since the election here.

Why do colonials call Budweiser a beer as well?
Only some call Budweiser "beer"....and believe it or not there things made over here even worse than Budweiser!
-
The price of oil has been dropping lately thanks to a drop in demand in some countries and for various other reasons. About time too. It's been artificially high for too long. I read somewhere that the US now or soon will surpass Saudia Arabia on oil production. No doubt the climate change lobby will try to up the prices again soon so their fantasy alternative energy ideas will seem almost realistic.
As for term gas or gasoline, that is in fact the correct name for the fuel. Petrol was a trade name in Britain, now long forgotten but the name stuck and in Britain and elsewhere gasoline is referred to as petrol. The same way Hoover is used when referring to a vacuum cleaner or Sellotape/Scotchtape when referring to adhesive tape.
The colonials it seems are right again!

get a budweiser, add about 2 or 3 ounces of fireball whiskey, the one with cinammon. add a splash of orange juice. carefully mix it. best drink ever. made it for a friend that doesnt like beer.

Gotta love how yahoo is making it seem like dropping gas prices is bad for the US economy. While I'm sure there is some kind of argument, they can all kiss my arse!

There is an argument: Yahoo is owned by the corporate media. The same guys who own the corporate media own shares in petroleum. They are mad about it, so they want the working class to sympathize with them.
Do you have sympathy? :O

Wholesale regular gasoline was just under $2 per gallon on the US exchange last Friday... It will follow the price of crude, which is collapsing under the stress of sharply increased supply....

Why the colonials call Petrol and Gas?
Why do colonials call Budweiser a beer as well?
Why am the English always bringing this up?
We call gasoline gas, it's just short for gasoline.
Why do the english call gasoline petrol (short for petroleum)? I could easily confuse your word for car fuel with Diesel, kerosene, butane, propane, fuel oil, tar and even asphalt (which you call tarmac).
The more important question regarding Budweiser is "why do people bother drinking Budweiser?"

About $74 a barrel. $73 is the break even point for the Russians, and around $70 for the Saudis... The lower it goes, the more it hurts those who hate the West....

The price of oil is in the toilet.... Largely because demand is dropping in Europe and the huge glut of cheap shale oil being produced in the US. By next year, the US will out-produce Saudi Arabia, not to mention it seems that the estimates of US reserves go up almost weekly.
We have more oil than we need, and if we stop exporting it, we won't need to import a drop....

I completely agree. I didn't say Putin's strategy is working.
That said, the situation may spark one or more wars in Europe and the Middle East....but there are also other factors at play there as well.

We are going to run out of oxygen suffocating before oil ends: maybe the Russian abiotic oil origin theory is right; this planet was built on a core of frozen methane, makes sense, very common in Universe; the future of propulsion is electric;Tesla,Samsung, Alevo are investing huge $$ in batteries gigafactories and even Rockefeller pulled out 50 bill $$ from oil;

I had never ever heard of the abiotic oil origin theory, interesting, no real proof I guess, but I'm all for interesting and different theories. (As long as what are theories are viewed as such and not as fact. Theory vs. fact/law - different topic :)).
I will point out, however, that batteries are not energy. The way I think of batteries as "green" is to think of them allowing for the capture and distribution of an energy form that can rely on centralized "power plants". By having a centralized production capability you can, so the argument goes, have economies of scale to justify the expense of building devices/establishing procedures at can capture/limit harmful externalities.
Along the same lines I'll point out that electricity is not really a "source of energy". In fact, from what I read, physicists do not really know what electricity is. They know enough to talk to "us" about it so that we can think "OK, got it". But among themselves, physicists do not really to know/agree as to what the hell it is. Maybe Tesla knew. Who knows.
I think that the reason large sums of money are heading into sectors like batteries, wind/sea wave farms, Bio, etc is that they are new and possibly profitable.
I've been interested in pebble-bed reactors for a while now as an energy source.

Just recently they discovered a nano tech battery that can store huge amounts of electricity in a postage stamp sized battery. Fast recharging and 200 times higher durability compared to current batteries. It's light weight and doesn't contain toxic materials.
I'm hoping electric cars will make a serious breakthrough because I want gas demand to go down so prices can drop further and I can fill up my V8 cheaper again! :D

OPEC is doing this deliberately, they will make profit down to about 30 bucks a barrel. They made profit at 18 bucks years ago so if you factor in cost increases I would say the 30 dollar mark would be fair to say.
I dont know the actual break point cost for OPEC but I``m making an educated, err uneducated guess.
This will slow if not outright stop domestic production and thus keep the US importing oil!
It can also have a trickle effect and this is likely what Yahoo was talking about, but as domestic production slows so goes all the suppliers of the equipment. Then of course since fuel is cheap people will continue to buy large gas guzzlers, which are the high profit units and, well the song remains the same......
Remember the last time this happened....hummers were everywhere!
Funny how it works, someone invents an electric starter for the engine and electric cars and trucks disappear..... was a time when electrics outnumbered the gas powered vehicles, look at NYC in the early 1920`s!

Imagine how rich they're getting pumping the price artificially as high as it was. It's a legalized robbery really. OPEC is like a legalized cartel thats stopping competition on a globally valuable commodity.

OPEC is not a single country with a single economy. Production costs, break even limits and economic dependencies are very much different between the individual countries. Poorer oil producing OPEC members are in a world of pain now and where basically begging Saudi-Arabia to limit production and to stabilize the oil price, as they need that money very much and can't produce any profit at current price levels.

I understand that Lucshe,Canada is an OPEC member as well. I was using OPEC as a term I supose as I didnt want to come across in a political or racist manner.
If the price drops much lower it wont be worth it for Canada to continue to develop the tarsands,as it wont be economically viable. It's well known in other parts of the world that there is potentially much more oil in the tarsand than there is to be found in that big sand box on the other side of the world.
As long as there is "cheap" fuel the insentives to develop new energy source are put on the back burner.... Hmm I wonder if that has any influence in all this..... :noid

I'm only going by the image I get from the news and tv shows. They give a very restricted impression, controlling what people can say etc. The nipplegate is one good example - it takes a very conservative society to even begin to worry about such minor details. It is fully possible that I have a completely wrong impression on many things. You only need to think about visiting your country and immediately you get hit with a host of limitations and lack of rights, for example your memory sticks and computer contents may get scanned through at the airport even if you're not a suspected felon. One simple but very invasive example where you guys lack the right for privacy.

The only reason why your memory sticks or computer is even scanned at the airport is because they're looking for any kind of explosive device I'm pretty sure that's the way all airports are all over the world now since 9/11, our mainstream media is very biased to one political side only a couple news stations actually take on all the hard questions which all news media should be doing. that's all I'm going to say on that topic here. If there's nothing to hide then its no big deal now is it? Don't get me wrong I don't think it should be allowed due to the illegal search and seizure laws but the world isn't what it used to be. I guess those are the liberties you have to give up if you want to fly in today's world.

Would you want your private photos, business secrets etc. to be scanned by the random customs officer? I wouldn't. The biggest risk is that a foreigner may have data on his computer which is perfectly legal in his country but not in yours. So you may get in trouble without knowing anything is wrong.
