Haven't tried this as I don't currently need a copy, but they have pretty good reviews.

Usually an unusually cheap OS means it's not legit unless the offer comes directly from Microsoft. Some companies resell unlocked OEM codes from scrapped computers for example. They 'work' but it's against the EULA. So buyer beware.
-
Ripley is quite correct. Microsoft controls the pricing of their operating system and they never reduce the price for anyone.
-
Depends on what you mean by cheap. Microsoft has had student prices for quite a long time for most of their newest stuff including the OS: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/Windows-8.1-Pro-for-Students/productID.288769600 (http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/Windows-8.1-Pro-for-Students/productID.288769600)
Unfortunately it's always for the newest items, so this unbelievably low price is yesterday's news: http://www.pcworld.com/article/201709/Get_Windows_7_Professional_for_29__If_Youre_a_Student.html (http://www.pcworld.com/article/201709/Get_Windows_7_Professional_for_29__If_Youre_a_Student.html)

I bought Win8 for 15 euros, but that offer was directly from Microsoft. Most websites that sell incredibly cheap licenses are not legit.

As you may have noticed my first link was also directly to Microsoft and the second one was referring to them. Again unfortunately their bargains are only valid for certain groups in the USA, not worldwide.

My last "cheap" windows OS install came from a university bookstore about 10 yrs ago. I picked up winXP, some server variants, and a developers kit including all their visual studio products for about $99. I haven't seen anything like that ever since.
-
Let me add this. I bought windows 7 from NewEgg, not sure if it was a 3rd party or not. When I installed MS had to install a certificate, DigCert, and that has been a pain in the rear. Every time I open Outlook I have to decide to install the certificate and I can't get rid of it. If you buy an OS buy it direct from MS.
-
This worked absolutely flawlessly on first attempt. Installed it on a friends laptop. just followed directions as stated. $59.00. use at your own risk though.

If the certificates do nto work you probably have a pirated copy.

what would indicate they did not work? They are a microsoft partner.

I'm a Microsoft Partner, too. Many crapware companies claim that, too. All it took to get the partnership was to have a Microsoft i.e. a Hotmail account and a minute to fill in the form.
-
have any of you checked them out? How many downloads they have done? BBB reports?

So are all microsoft "partners" crap companies?
The constant unfounded negativity of forums I find astounding. Just trying to help people out. Time to quit posting.

5 negative reviews out of thousands of downloads. You can find negativity on virtually every business if you dig enough as I have provided of your evidence. I also don't think the sample pool you used is truly indicative of the company.

Had I said so, I would have crapified myself, too. What I wanted to point out was that it's very easy to get a legit MS partnership, not to mention the ease of simply lying. Even reviews can be faked. On the other hand the reliable ones can get poor reviews by their rivals or just due to bad luck. Media reading skills is what way too many Internet users are lacking.
Here's something positive: Most online shops are reliable and will offer help if the product doesn't work as suggested.

i can say this after traveling extensively throughout the Philippines and other Asian countries that i have seen many users with pirated windows , I have seen the downside of what happens . if you want to try to save a buck you run the risk of wiping out your entire drive leaving you nothing but a rectangular box , all i can say its will cost you more to fix .
For me its the read deal or nothing . your windows my download from this site and it may work but what else was included with the download that you dont know of

I will keep checking the validity of the copy I installed and I will report if it shows up as not legitimate or authentic.
I have been unable to verify if the company is bogus. The fact of it being based offshore (Dominica) raises some questions as well as the NY based storefront is probably just a sham.
On the other hand, I would think Microsoft would have the power to shut them down immediately if they were not a "partner" as advertised on Microsoft's own "Pinpoint" website, and were selling bogus products. You can do a search for them on that site (Microsoft's own site) and there they are.

Legitimate copies of Windows do not get mysterious certificate problems. So either you enjoy your 'tweaking' and error solving or you get a legit copy that doesn't have porked registry to avoid authority checks.

about a month with no problems. I'm going to have him bring it in to me next week and check to see if it is updating. I should be able to tell problems then?

Yes if you can run large updates without problems, chances are the certificate problem was unrelated.

Watch out some these bogus copies of windows come with nasty viruses. Discovered that while working on customer computers.

If someone wants free windows, Win10 release preview is by far the safest choice. And then start saving up for the license.
