For the record I went to the DA with Skyyr on Saturday and I lost 1-19. I called him a BnZ, E-state-roping-one trick Pony so he challenged me to DA, which I was happy to accept, and I thank him for staying and fighting 20 rounds.
Firstly we proved I can't beat him in a duel [well 95% of the time I can't beat him in a duel]. As in the MA, in the DA Skyyr is the king of the maximizing alt-E-retension Immelmenn [or at least 8% better than I am] that makes the second merge a slow motion stall fight with him pulling up to maybe 400yrds above me hanging on his prop and me trying to line him up and missing shot ofter shot before I stall out. Then he chases me down and I die. This scenario played out about 16 times in various planes [all avoiding our favorite rides]
We discussed during the fights whether this dueling scenario, employing the same first turn that maximizes alt and E-state, disproves the one-trick-pony theory. Skyyr's point was "why would I do something less effective." My point was I think this proves my point, and If I could shoot I will have killed him a bunch of times and forced him into varied tactics that might have given the opportunity to deploy a more varied set of maneuvers and scenarios. Alas I couldn't force him out of that scenario.
There were a couple of sorties where he just unzipped his fly and I saddle him up quickly and still couldn't hit him. Then after being down 1-12 I really just start making all kinds of mistakes. But does my horrific gunnery prove anything about the original ACM discussion?
I don't know because I lost, and Skyyr won so I have to shut up until the rematch. :bhead

Let me know when I should care. I don't think anyone has ever really questioned his ability, only his character and personality.

From what I understand, he gains the E advantage by managing his trim tabs. Supposedly the trim tabs bleed less E than the control surfaces.
I'm rather intrigued by this tactic.
Of course its all speculation on my part, for all I know he uses RATO units and X-wing lasers.

Manual trim I guess. Whatever thing is modeled into the game that is supposed to simulate trim tabs.

Good fights, vinkman; but, there was no need to make them public - they ended on a friendly note.

Nah, non of that really matters.
The key is to match the speed and merge in order to offset any rope tactic that might be ploid. So if you can match the merge that is the first step, next you have to be very light on the controls as to go into a second emmilman completing the full loop. If you are both matching the merge on the second emmil, this is where the fight gets tight and you have to make the stall decicion whether to roll hard for a possible shot, or to continue trying to get the opponent to fall over first/and under you. It takes careful stick and stall handling, throttle control, and flap management. Trim really has nothing to do with it in AH.

Seconded.
Also, in all my DA sessions with Skyyr he never mentioned any trim trick. He is simply exceptional at E management and gunnery.
I can recall more times than I can count going around and around in a fight with him...and just barely being unable to take a shot. He patiently builds an E advantage and before you know it the guy is going up like an elevator....and dropping down at will to put you in the tower.
No cheating. No games. Simply terrific E management coupled with superior angles and gunnery.

I wish I had time to spend in the DA and get ticked off for having been owned. Sadly, my 80 hour work week doesn't allow my big passion: ACM!

Glad some people still find the DA to be more then you win/lose.....feels like it SCARES people off from DA challenge....end of the day your only better from the mistakes you learned.
