Adding Large railroad yards would be cool. They don't have to move. I would suggest they be timed downtime like a fighter or bomber hanger. Maybe stop all supplies for only fifteen minutes.
-
You'll see this in the AvA in AH3 soon. I've been planning on building this for a long time. I know most players don't give the AvA a look, but that's where the goodies can be found. :lol

Flak trains. :devil

Ya, there would have to be a good risk on a railroad yard attack.
-
Cool idea. +1
Maybe stop all supplies for only fifteen minutes.
Maybe just for the bases adjacent to the particular rail yard. Not an entire country.

:airplane: I would venture a guess that every city or town had a rail yard of some kind! Maybe 4 tracks for small town or air base, 8 for medium size town and 12 for large city or airfield. This is an excellent idea and I am sure Hi Tech will install them next week!

OL and I were talking about it other day on vox after I hit the trains when the idea for the railroad yards game out.

As long as M-4 tanks can come out of a tunnel and shoot the place up. I like it.

:airplane: a few days ago, we were attacking a "strat" factory and we had great success and as I was making my last pass in my trusty 38, someone called out a train near by! As I made my first pass at the thing, the ack shot out one of my engines, but thought I would make one more pass on the train engine to disable it for the other guys.
Now picture this: I am approaching in a shallow dive, with the train engine on the "left" end of the train cars and lo and behold, I was having to correct to my right in order to keep it, the engine, in my gun sights! Do these things run backwards as well as forward and if so, how are they controlled? I thought they were just automatic functions of the game, but now, my curiosity is up about he trains in the game!
Question #1--can the train engine be disable, making the train cars easier targets for destruction?
Question #2-- What effect does destroying the train have on the game?
Question #3-- May I destroy the "train station" with bombs or cannon fire, there by disabling the function of the train on the game?
Question #4- Do you receive any "perk" points or damage points if you destroy the train and or station? if so, how many of each?
I have read a couple of books on the 57th fighter/bomber squadrons in Italy during the war and they were directly responsible for limiting the resupply of German troops in Italy and thereby enabling Patton's 3rd Army an easier task of taking Italy back from the Germans. There is a video about the 57th on utube somewhere, but unable right now to find it, but if you do, its interesting watching!

Answere to Question No. 1. Destroying the engine will cause the cars to stop moving, making them easier targets. I have done this on several occasions.
-
1. As shilo mentioned destroying the engine stops the train moving, making it a marginally easier target to hit. However, after the engine is destroyed the rest of the train disappears after a brief time.
2. Destroying train cars lengthens the time for repair of the strat the train is heading towards. If the strat is already 100% it has no effect.
3. I don't think so, no.
AH trains only move forward; I've never seen one move backwards.

the random train or railway carriage being full of ammo with huge explosions would be nice...
-
Back in the old days, when the strats were dispersed, and you could take a Vbase that had a spawn to the NME strat, I use to have fun driving to the strat, leveling it, then waiting for the train to arrive, and blowing it up to.
Some nights you just want to make things go boom....

CraterMA has always had spawns to the HQ, but as the front line rarely gets that far back before the map is won they don't see much use. So for the revised AH3 version of the terrain I am adding SPs to all the strats except the cities.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is rule #4 ?

I believe my post was rule 4ed for quoting what alpini said.
I still stand by my dropped on the head as a child comment. :D

I now see what rule 4 is. That being, 70% of the replay's would come under that rule.

dropping eggs on a railyard would be a blast :airplane: LITERALY :x
