In cockpit seeing what the player is seeing while flying Ingame or the fancy camera angles and effects?
-
A mixture of both is always best.
-
In cockpit for sure
-
For entertainment value, you should be all over the place. The better the directors can make a so-so battle look spectacular!
For training I like the in cockpit follow the views, as well as out of cockpit "trailing". Heck I prefer the ahf so I check out ALL the views.
-
the films of others kicking /knocking me down time after time after time, just straight up owning me from the start til the end!.....that's the kind of films I am looking for, heh

Im still looking for a few good Hog films so I can learn that bird a bit better. :noid :noid

In terms of watching them I like a mix of both. I've never gotten very good at getting consistent results with the film viewer so when making them, for the moment anyway, I'm stuck in the cockpit. I'll keep messing with it.
-
They both have their places. The fancy crap to market AH3 and swap the arenas with noob-targets, squad play, Vtards, etc.
For skill sets I prefer the cockpit view, and/or views that show actual ACM techniques.

I like the cockpit views best

Use Fraps with TrackIR from cockpit.
-
Hey save. Can you get 1080p 60fps like that?
-
I can only get 720 60fps with my MSI Gforce 780 (overclocked) and an overclocked I5, but with a better video-card, I can see no hindrance to get full HD @ 60fps.
-
You can record that high? FRAPS always cuts my fps in half. I had to go with a different program.

Haven't used Fraps in a while but IIRC it's a setting to either limit or lock FPS when recording. Or not and just get whatever your card will do.
I remember mine wouldn't do 60 so I locked it at 30 and it did fine with that.

Fraps drops a lot of frames if you use it in game..in the film viewer it isn't as bad for me.
Definitely want to find something I can record my views with, kind of a per peeve with the film viewer it shows default view not what we set in game.
-
Like I said I hadn't used it in a while. It worked just fine and quality was fine also but it was generating some hefty files. I've since switched to OBS to save on HD space which also works fine although at a step down in quality from the uncompressed avi that Fraps puts out. I also have a Twitch channel hence OBS. Both Fraps and OBS capture my views whether they be via TIR or hat.

I use Loilo, which is free: http://loilo.tv/us/product/game_recorder
I play at 4k, record at 1920x1080 60fps, but you can also set it to 30, or 29.94, etc.
I also use UTVideo codec in Premiere Pro. If you upload at 60fps it will take forever, but it is most excellent.
-
Films of bikini chicks running down the beach. :D
-
For showing off the entertainment value of the game, external views to see the fight unfold. EXPLOSIONS! :x
For training, cockpit view showing ACM and target tracking relative to flight path please. :aok
-
Been using Fraps for all my videos . never had a problem getting 60 fps or 1080 res. somewhat surprised that the video card would hinder the recording. i have made videos at full game res max settings and still made very high quality videos, example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq7AQnOEFVE
-
Looks like 30fps to me. AH was giving you 60fps, but FRAP was either not recording at 60fps or when you uploaded it then it was changed to 30fps.
-
Fraps was recording at 60 fps , but after doing a bit of research i found out that my videos are uploaded at 30 fps using windows movie maker . thanks for pointing that out . now i have found a way to change windows movie maker to save at the 60 fps .
-
Well, you are correct. I can't tell you how long I have lived with the mistaken belief that it would not do it, but it is working now. My mistake!
-
lol well chalenge take a look at both of these videos 1 i saved at my old setting 30 fps and 1 i saved at 60 fps both the same fight see if you can tell the difference its late and i cant trust my eyes now lol

fix the problem both are now usable
-
The first one is usable, but the compression is awful. The second one I could not view, because I am getting the same message.
You were doing real good against the C2 until the A5 cut in.
-
ha well thats weird the 1st 1 is the 60 fps guess i will not be so worried about fps or try something else guess the Copyright dont want me to use Beatles songs lol
removed the song so the 2nd 1 should play after an hour or so

I have Junky's issue with the film viewer. Is there a way to set your views in the film to emulate what we have the head positions set to in the game?
-HlyWd-
-
It's kind of strange but the film viewer doesn't make use of your in-game head positions. You have to pause a film and set them all in the viewer as you would in the game to get them to work. Once that's done your views recorded by the hat switch will look right. The viewer doesn't show views if you're using TIR. If you didn't use a hat at any point in the film it'll just look straight ahead the whole time. Be great if the films could capture the TIR views too.

Fugi, not that I have anything against films, but the only films I have ever posted was ones of great fights, but me as being the loser.....guess I am modest like that
edit: except of one film from many many years ago of me low over the water doing about 110 IAS in a F4U-1C 75% fuel and having 6 different planes attacking me at once , from bf109g2's, F6f-5's, FW-190A8 and P-51 D's and a zeke or 2.....that is the only film I ever posted where I cleaned their clocks, and not a single HO shot from me.............it was at that time, I decided to never post another film of me being victorious, I don't desire nor need any "Look at me" videos
when it comes to filming for Training purposes ( like my films Badboy used for the BRD and rolling scissors, etc ) I make it a point to first get permission from the other people in the films, and to make it where their names / gameid's never appear, to save face
and I would rather help work with you in the TA and film our work, and learn from it together....
hope you understand how I view films in this game
Sincerely,
TC / Johnny

I only give you a hard time because at one time you said you would send me F4 films and then never did.
Personally I don't care who is in the film, nor whether they win or lose I watch them to learn how others fly a plane, and do what they do.
Greebo sent me some films once a long time ago. When ever I fought him , other than my poor aim, I always thought I did well, but always lost. After going through the films I figured out why, it was because of my poor aim. :D Greebo isnt a "super stud" in his F6. He may be a bit above average, but he isn't one of those over top guys. He has good SA, and good plane control, not exceptional like you see a few of those top sticks in their 109s and such, but good. Where he does excel at is his aim. If you give him a shot, he not only takes it, he knocks parts off, EVERY time. He very rarely misses.
Watching his films over and over, slowing them down, following every round, taught me a lot about about lead. I now shoot in the 4-5% range. Will I beat Greebo next time we meet? Who knows, but if I get a shot maybe I'll knock a few parts off which should make it easier :devil
As for posting films, well I think your being a bit irrational about the "names" seeing as we are all flying under "assumed" names as it is. Also, I never asked you to "post" films, I asked you to send me some, I'll keep the names private if you like(didn't say who Greebo fought in his films did I? ;) ). I was just looking for some films of players flying hogs. I know how I fly them and just wanted to compare styles to see if I was missing something I hadn't thought about.
Working with a trainer doesn't work well with me. I don't know the questions to ask, or what I "need to work on". I do know when I see something in a film I can tell if it's good or bad, helps or doesn't.
Thanks for the offer tho <S>

Just published it Fugitive, in a separate topic. One flight, one e-fight, one turn-fight. Not sure if you can learn anything from it, as I'm sure you fly similarly.
:salute

just for you, and only you, I will make some new current films and send them to you, please keep the people I kill/shoot down out of anything you post, as Badboy always did........
I will and am going to uphold my (promise?) to send you some films
I will also say, you are wrong about meeting me in the Training Arena and me showing you your mistakes ( and I am gentle about it )

Honestly, that is for the Trainer to figure out, and if they can't..........well Yes I will say it.....they are not much of a Trainer!
I can take a player up in 1 to 2 flights and know thier problems or wrong reactions with in minutes if not seconds...........and I tell them as soon as I see them...... I and I fix them from there on!
try me once, if you can!

It's gotta be both. Niros always made spectacular films. Here's one of them.
