Title: Britain
Post by: zack1234 on February 13, 2016, 07:00:28 AM
Been hearing recently parents telling their kids not to join the forces :old:

Not because of the danger but because of the reasons for the recent wars.

Maybe the Internet is informing people.

Read an article a while back about their recruiting numbers way way down. Basically the lack of benefits/etc outweighed the sense of duty or other factors that tend to lead people to join the armed forces.

Maybe it's the fact those who start the wars don't actually pick up a gun just the coin.?

And those coming back are left picking up the pieces.

I work with a guy who got injured in Iraq, and was reassigned to a medical holding unit stateside while the army figured out if they could fix his back.  The psychological and physical trauma soldiers go through is astounding.  He told me of one guy, the lone survivor of a Bradley Fighting Vehicle that had hit a Russian anti-tank mine.  He had a severe traumatic brain injury and would open imaginary doors and try to step through them.  There's no fixing a brain injury like that.

There are tens of thousands of people who are a shell of their former selves.

There better be an extremely good reason to go to war.

a bush in the hand is better than a bird in the hand.  then again, if the mood strikes sometimes a bird in the hand is better.

The IRA assinated children for "money" outside McDonald's a day before Mother's Day.

King Leoplod was Belgium and considered a bit harsh to the Africans by the British, and you all know how we were :rofl (The US are benevolent to everyone by the way)

If you go to London the majority language is not English.

Belgium is the base for the EU parliament and covered up high level child abuse for years :old:

Why would anyone want their kids to join the forces  to defend a country who's government thinks third world countries like turkey,Poland and Ukraine should be allowed to enter the UK and steal jobs from the people.

We have signs now in 4 different languages in public places because they cannot speak English.

Same way in the States, but here it's spanglish not arabic for the primary language.  Same problem though,  not wanting to integrate but segregate into tight clusters of differing peoples.  Just countries inside countries now. Soon the word United will have to be removed from all the maps labeled as 'United States'.

Sad.

depends on your definition of united.  if your definition is talk like me, walk like me, act like me then no, because your way may not be the correct one see bundy.  but if it means, we care about this country the same, then yes.

It's the immigrants who only renounce their old nationality on paper but not in deed that give immigrants a bad name. Pledging allegiance to a new country yet flying their old country's flag at their houses.. If their old nationality is so great, why the diddly did they change it?

st patrick's day?  cinco de mayo? christmas? Hanukkah? and many dozens more.

all of those are foreign holidays. and yet we dont seem to forget to drink green beer, coronas, exchange gifts, what do you do on  Hanukkah?  we are a nation of hypocrites who think all the things we celebrate are/made here.

edit: I walked straight from the INS office when I got my permanent green card straight into the marines recruit office.  I qualified for a bonus, but didnt ask for one.  my salary went from 1800 to 599 a month.  I remember the recruiting officer showing me his pay stub and I telling him I made 500 bucks more a month than he did.  he gave me a weird look and asked me why I was joining.  I served as best as I could.  when I got out, (more like asked to leave) I went back to the same company at 1/2 the salary.  I had a wife and 2 kids.  I went to work with holes in my shoes.  I never felt embarrassed or regret. it took me 3 years to get back to the salary i had 5 years earlier.  I see many people just like me go to work with pride to be here.

The US is, I suspect, fortunate to have you join the country.  I'm glad and feel lucky that you are here.  I hope that you find success here, and contentment, pleasure, and friends, and have children here.  Also, if you have friends and family elsewhere that are good people like you, I hope that you work on convincing them to come here, too.

But it is not my experience that every group to enter the country is like you.

Some immigrants are great, like you.  Some are not.  It is wise for nations to have a care about the process.

Wisely handled immigration is an enormous asset.  Doing the opposite of that is disastrously bad, as shown many times in history.

Opposition to uncontrolled borders is *not* the same as being anti-immigration.

It's like someone pointing out that it isn't wise to inhale a gallon of water and then getting accused of not not believing that water is good to consume.

I agree with you on that brooke.  not everybody should be allowed to just walk in.  but what gets me is those who are here for generations that think they are entitled to everything.  I see that at work every day.  perhaps it is more like a sign of the new generation that are just plain lazy.  I hope it changes. otherwise we are gonna be screwed.

and by the way,  my mother, my father and one of my brothers should have never been allowed in.  they will just take advantage of anybody they can.  I have uncles and cousin that have been deported because of their evil ways.  and i am the first to be happy when a no good person from my old country gets deported.  I am not a hypocrite, I am not a saint, but I will never take advantage of anybody just because I can.

I'm with you on that.  A sense of entitlement seems nearly always bad.  In my experience, it often is highly harmful to everyone, especially to the person feeling entitled, who is then crippled by negativity, losing morale and the ability to make progress.

I'm sorry about the family dynamic.  One of the things that I like about a system with free markets and strong rule of law is that people can have any motive, including ones that don't seem good, but are rewarded mainly only insofar as they provide something that others value enough to pay for voluntarily.  If such a system is strong enough, a lot of people find that it is just as much or more work, less reward, and higher risk, working to get things another way.  I hope for your family a future path that is fulfilling and successful.

Immigrants coming to the UK CAN send welfare back to THEIR own Countries.

UK state benefits are 9 times higher than a monthly wage in Romania!

THIS is not a MYTH!

The Bulgarians and Romanian governments Ambassadors have told the UK prime minister that only 10k to 20k people will be coming to the UK from their countries :rofl

THIS is not a MYTH

Jobs are advertised directly in these countries and not in the UK !

Government officials are saying they will address this, ADDRESS , they allowed it!

The Metroplotian Elites are NOT affected by immigration!

And let's get one thing straight LIBERALS are LIBERALS because it does not affect them and they can smile and go to their second homes in the country when the lower orders step out of line.
