The OP has 20 deaths to manned guns this tour. He's been here long enough to know that when you vulch, you might get a 37mm consolation prize. Some people are slow learners though.
The irony is that he also has 20 kills in manned guns. :D
-
OP, is your wish to have easier, less risky, kill opportunities? Your wish is less than clear. Please be more specific.

Everyone assumes this because they don't know any better...he actually is looking for better fights instead of fighting ack.

I've built a training arena for newbies to AH3 that allows them to learn how to use the wirbel\osti, 37mm, and 88mm at MA realistic ranges against realistic fly over angles. The AH3 default gunsights for the wirbel\osti have range guides. I found the manual for the gunsight in the flackpanzers. And there is that new Flack base object with 63 88mm, 9 of them manable.
When we had 400-500 players a night, the idea of something like this wouldn't have been too bad because we had the numbers to make up the losses of those more timid players driven out by the likes of Lazer and Junky wiping them out on every engagement 20 seconds after the first merge. We don't have the numbers to waste like that anymore when Hitech needs to gain new subscriptions.
Most people will refuse to spend $15.00 a month to loose all the time just to get proficient in about 3 years. And only a minority of them will be interested in becoming anything more than proficient to have their fun. You cannot keep the doors open with the revenue from a minority of subscribers. Unless you substantially increase the subscription fee to make up for those forced out of the game by not feeling like they will ever have a chance to win against the over saturation of vets that our game has dwindled down to.
Lazer I noticed last night we didn't have an issue with finding enough people who wanted to furball. We had the issue if we de-acked, then slaughtered the bish who were hiding in their ack, they would stop upping. For some reason both the bish and rooks refuse to keep furballing with us knights if everything is even and they have to fight it out in the bushes heads up. Monday night madness in the AvA has about 20 dedicated furballers who go at it for about 2 hours and no one hides in the ack. You cannot force people to fight by punishing them for not playing your way, which is how many will see the loss of ack.

So your saying Lazer and I drive people away from the game because we are competitively looking for a fight??? Hell last time I looked at the roster it's a bunch of base taking squads with large numbers, can't remember the last time I seen more then 3 AoM members on or any BKs....I wonder what the results would be if HTC polled what people play AH for...I bet the majority is base takers currently because the game lends itself to that. I always thought the base take portion of AH was to spawn fights...which currently with the systems in place...is lacking with low numbers.
It doesn't take 3 years to learn ACM...I can teach a person to be semi competitive in about 30 minutes in the TA or DA as long as they already know basic flight manuevers (that's the hard part and you got to give trainers credit there)
I fly most sorties either in a plane that isn't suppose to turn with most other late war rides or from an alt disadvantage to make my fights better for myself and also my enemy....I know a lot don't know how to fight their way out of a blindfold when it comes to ACM...a lot of times if they start running home away after trying to fight, I let them go because at least they tried.
People like Lazer and I aren't a minority....to most, any change to either thing they wouldn't care in the end because A) they only play US prime time when it doesn't matter much and B) They play the game the way it used to be played...prior to the resupply M3 MADNESS.
The ack is just funny to me, you see a base flashing...you jump in gun and see what's coming in. HOW IS THAT FUN????? So many people do this now instead of upping LA7s....which was the primary base defender 4-5 years ago....
I think Chilli had the right idea, make guns part of vehicle scores, that way any scorers won't want to up that immediately because it effects them negatively if there isn't anything there within gun range.

Yes. Yes you are. If you weren't, by definition there would be more like minded people flying against you.

We are a minority in that we fly during non peak hours, not our flying style, for the most part I do everything in Aces High as lon as there is a fight there....early EST is where the issues are most blatantly there and I think this is why a lot of others don't see the problem.
I'm vocal on the bbs everyone knows this...but I know a lot of people agree with Lazer and I because every time it happens range vox fires up with "man they need to fix that" or "resupply is way too easy"
-

But that is the situation you're talking about fixing. At primetime, there's generally critical mass to have enough aircraft up to be something resembling fun. For whatever reason, off hours brings out the milkrunners and people looking to avoid fights.

Yup. And I bet you it's the same dozen or so people that are agreeing with you every time. And, of course they don't like it, because it's preventing them from accomplishing what they're trying to accomplish.
It may feel like "everybody" is supporting you, but take a look next time at the actual number. Look at the board here. There's the same small number of vocal people throwing out the same viewpoints every time, but there really aren't that many when you compare it to the actual population of the arena and game.

What is this score thing you speak of? :bolt:

The evolution of this kind of game is that a small percentage of players will become highly adept at it. That is to be expected. During high density population times for a game, the likely hood of running into those players if at all is very small. The less skilled to average players then spend a majority of their time together with better odds of fun outcomes at their skill levels.
And the minority of the lesser skilled that naturally evolve, or choose to evolve to higher skill levels will spend their time competing where the higher skilled players congregate each evening. And there is enough population density that the lesser skilled can find fun away from the highly skilled once they have had enough of being overwhelmed by the differences in game skills.
Today we are in an out of balance condition for skill level self segregation. Too many obvious skilled players wanting the lesser skilled players who in the past would segregate with lesser skilled players to have their kind of fun. Now to make up for the shortfall in available competitors when they know they don't have a chance of winning. What do those lesser skilled players do today? What they did during the high density population days. Avoid the high skill level players or quit the game.
So manned guns and field supply's for the lesser skilled players starts taking the place of not enough players to go around to segregate with and have their kind of fun when some obvious fire breather demands they commit suicide to keep him happy.

Manned guns should count as a victory over whoever was in it shooting.
The resupply only needs tweaking so that Town buildings cannot be re-supplied.
These gameplay choices become far more apparent off hours when the population is low. During prime time there probably is still enough action to go around if your prepared to look for it.
-
Rocky was out last night picking-vulching then running off in the p51. I ran him off three times with the 88.
I am surprised he hasn't joined laser and junky on this wish. Birds of a feather.

Randy1, keep saying lies that I only pick, vulch, and run and I'm going to beat you down in your own ride until you make me your FPH.
Actually this is the second time you've done that....going to pulverize you straight back to the hangar over and over again guy.

This is what bustr is saying but his long winded posts are hard to read :aok

If that would be the only change that is done, no one will be using them considering that a 20mm round in the close proximity of any AAA gun destroys it.
I very much doubt that's something that will happen. My guess is that they are working as HT intended them to work.

Reducing things to sound bites is another way to say I have my fingers in my ears and don't want to hear anything but what I want.

this.. very much this
occupied manned guns should be kills especially those that exploit it to keep score high
m3 is a pain.. and takes away a lot of potential of a fight when 5-7 guys are driving m3s..sure easy kills but.. a lot of people play for a fight shocker...right?

Wut? :headscratch:
How do you "exploit" score by using a field gun?
Making field guns count the same as a kill of a plane or vehicle is a dumb idea. Killing a Jeep is ten times as difficult.
What will happen is nobody will use the guns and there will be a hundred more de-ackers/vulchers fighting over the easiest kills imaginable.
-
Man acks rarely survives any longer period of time during a vulch if the attackers decides to go after them. They might bring down a few planes before but they don't stop the base from being captured.

They can if the town is next to the field....think there is a few players who can shell other bases with 88s on ndisles center island...overmodeled??? yep

well first learning what exploit means helps... secondly a jeep cant fire a 37mm round 3.5k yards out and take a plane down.. or 88mm flak rounds 15k yards out.. slight difference if the gunner is good it can kill the plane before it is close enough to kill the gun a jeep is limited to the same range.. as aircraft(With 50 cals) so both can shoot each other at the same.. time put a 20-37mm on jeep then we'll talk
but.. its quite simple.. people in base guns do not get a "death" their score does not get hurt but they kill the attacker.. never the less if its not AI Shooting at you it should be a kill.. that simple
also.. definition of exploit "make full use of and derive benefit from"
but people exploit it to avoid score loss.. more than last line of defense and.. its been problem.. for hmm 4-5 years now? same with ENY and bomb n bails..people leave for reasons.. and its not the economy when people wise up to this.. maybe we'll have a player base again

I believe that is a bug were 88:s can take down fields nearby without actually hitting the objects.

What about people that "avoid score loss" by fighting at another base, sitting in the tower, or logging off? Or all those huddled together in a safe green cloud hording the base? By your reasoning, they are "exploiting" too.
"Score loss"
-
Speaking of manned guns...
Guessing this has been discussed, but why is there only a "gunsight" view from the 17 pound gun? Seems like the gunner/loaders should be able to look around.

yea it should be like a tank, position 1 is looking over the gun where you can look all directions and 2 is the sight as it is now.

fighting.. at another base.. is still fighting.. and generating combat(the whole point of this game)..people sitting in the tower.. do not effect.. anything except.. players logged in.. and..a hoard.. is.. just a hoard but.. still adding to combat..
while.. those.. by definition are exploitable they are still exposed.. and plenty able to be killed.. which means.. their score is in danger.. they.. cannot kill someone or raise.. their score without risk of getting killed.. in manned gun.. they can kill people trying to fight.. and have no risk of death..
every thing.. you listed.. adds to game combat.. there.. is nothing wrong with any of it.. except sitting in tower.. in which case(as suggested many times) a disconnect timer be put in place but.. does not effect fights..but sitting in a gun to shoot down a plane.. that has been in the air for 9-10 minutes and.. if that plane kills said gun.. they get no kill for it.. but still die..yep.. this is good game model*looks at population* hmm.. again.. simply put if its.. not AI it should be a kill

Really? Why are you bashing these guys? These guys like to fight!
You never used to act like this, has something happened in your life recently?

This discussion\wish got taken to the General forum with Hitech eventually responding and locking the post with this.
This one is cooked.
Wish NOT granted.

I've noticed a few squads during prime time lately attack two or three knights bases taking out the M3's ability to do anything while making the knights jump from base to base trying to find the furball. While the knights are running around in circles ignoring the two other bases, those squads leave the knights a few fighters to keep them distracted and take the other bases. The quality of those furballs suck because the distraction force is only there to keep the knights blinded by their addiction, not furball for a good time. When the base take notification rolls by, those cons are gone leaving the knights with their G-strings around their ankles feeling a cold breeze.
That is probably why Waystin takes the Pigs somewhere else to make the red guys cry on his terms.

"stabbyy thinks to him self to whom edited.. see rule #1 #2 #3 and #4 its exactly what was done by moving it to general"
anyways i still agree with the OP answer is no...we can already see long term effects of this not being taken care of...one of easiest answer.. is to make m3's not count on town resups..or.. make them half as effective(towns are big)
and.. make field guns count as kills.. would stop a lot of it or reduce it
