Downloaded the beta last week. Unfortunately, the game crashes everytime I attempt to enter an arena and a box pops up stating "ahbeta.exe has stopped working."
I reverted back to an old driver for the video card and was able to enter an arena a few times. Tried to enter the next day and it started crashing again even though it still had the old driver installed.
I was already looking to get a better video card and installed a GTX 980 today. Loaded the game, crossed my fingers, clicked an arena and BOOM....you guessed it....game crashed.
I've tried disabling the soundcard and headset but it still crashes. Have no idea what to do now and would appreciate any help.

It sounds to me like you've installed the AH2 settings. That's sure to crash it. I can't speak to your hardware.
-
Thanks, but I didn't transfer anything over from AH2.
-
try changing your shadow texture size in video settings before logging in, or your resolution. Perhaps one of those two things is causing a conflict/crash
-
Thanks, changed video settings and resolution, still crashing.
-
This happens to me, almost every day. Usually it takes 2 or 3 times before I can get in any arena at all, including off-line. Some times opening in "administrator" works and others it just takes 3 or more attempts. I thought at first, maybe an files cache clean-up tool messed it up. So far, I haven't seen any change at all with it disabled. I have several squaddies that have same trouble, so pretty sure its not my system.
-
Thanks, changed video settings and resolution, still crashing.
Pretty sure that , that isn't the problem. I even get the exe. stopped working on that as well, although haven't had it happen recently.

Did you properly wipe off your previous video card drivers before installing the new card? DDU is the tool for it: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html (http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html)

Uhmm,...just noticed Windows 10. Microsoft did an update recently, to Windows 10 which broke many DirectX games. I thought they only did it to the test groups, but it seems it might have made it into the wild. Yes, they are aware of the problem as they were the ones who posted about it shortly after the release.
Not sure if that is what is going on here, but it sure seems to point to it.

Thanks Biz. Yes, I did use DDU to wipe the video card drivers.

For whatever reason, I can log into AH3 without problems now.
I have noticed if I log into AH2 before AH3, the latter will crash every time.

Yes, HiTech has posted a work-around (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,378740.0.html) for the problem until the next patch is released.
