ok folks, let me know what you think! 1 map, 2 hour battle time once a week. same map for the whole year. to include bomber missions, defense missions, base capture and yes even vulching if necessary, will ask that HO'ing be kept to a minimum. could be ETO, MTO, pacific or Eastern front. 1 map a year
will need both axis and allied forums active. will keep a running map with lines drawn for where the front is. once a base is captured, after 2 weeks, the enemy is allowed to try to recapture it back plus given their regular objective. orders will be given out like with FSO but in the forum. bases will be taken or lost and that's part of the war. at the end of the year, the side with the most forward motion wins. thought about running it at 1pm EST on sundays, so the Europeans could get involved and the west coasters! either that or Saturday nights 9 or 10pm EST. This would be a 2 sided battle with Base capture being part of it, by any means necessary. the idea is to instill tactics and cunning versus brute force. it will be about the allies getting to berlin, or capturing Germany, versus the axis not only holding off the allies, but possibly capturing England, Russia or whatever. its a year long war if you will.
I figure each pilot can do 2 bombing missions. 3 fighter missions, and then all GV's or gunner/observer.
what do you guys think?? I need everyone to chime in on this one!
-
I find it .... intriguing. :cheesy:
-
I really like the idea...yet I think a year is too long...I might be in the minority but maybe 6 months or every 3 or 4 months rotate the map...
You'll get the same people playing every "frame" with walkons here and there depending on the time of year, weather, ect....
But a year would make a really good on-going scenario...but I think the "newness" of the event would wear off soon...
Have them run 4 months you could do the whole war early, mid, late on the same front over the course of a year...
I do like the idea and would try to show up though :rock :rock :rock
-
a year would make it like a real war. all aspects of the game will be used. bomber missions will bomb targets. radar will be used, with some delay. even air traffic controllers will be used to prevent air strikes. gv's will capture bases. fighters and c47's will capture bases. the idea of a year is to make it realistic. there will be a page dedicated to show the battle front and how it changes. if Germany stops England and starts to capture bases in England, so be it. this is not a historical set up in that it ends the same way, its a historical war with historical pieces, but how it ends is up to the community.
I thought about having tower only radar, so that someone can sit in the tower and direct air defense to stop an attack! would probably have some delay in the radar but close enough.
id like to time it so that the Europeans can participate too. I want everyone to WANT to participate in this.
if number start to dwindle, we can revisit the length of time. we can also have a poll to see what theater would like to start with. this will be a full scale cartoon war, if you will.
tactics can be used sneakiness and cunning can be used. everything is a tactic.
the entire war will be objective driven. orders will be released in the forums and how commands complete them will be up to them.
-
The concept has great potential.
Some detailed questions:
- Side switching? Over the course of the year.
- Kill shooter?
- Who chooses the missions and targets?
- Who chooses the order of battle? That is, the type and mix of planes.
- Task groups available? Can TGs be captured?
I can see a 15 minute early show time to hash out plane assignments and objectives.
The idea of an ebb and flow battle is appealing.
-
well we're still spitballing here, but I was thinking about that.
1 side switching..... by request only, but you cant switch until the following week.
2 kill shooter..... im not sure, probably on, but if the consensus was off, we'd turn it off
3. I would like a the axis command chose a target one week and the allies chose the next week. would also be multiple targets in order, so that if one base was captures they could move on to the next target, with a maximum of 3 targets per frame.
4. we would want input from the community, but only certain planes at certain bases. all would be close to the battle grounds. some bases could have multiple fighters but only one bomber type per field.
5. im not sure about capturing task groups, we sank them, we never captured them. if in a pacific setup. you would have to protect your carrier, while attacking your enemies, and vice versa. Manned guns WOULD be active! as with bases, manned guns would be active!
-
I think you may be onto something here jeager. I do agree that a year may be a little long though.

like I said, we can tweak it as necessary. right now its all in the planning/discussion stages so nothing is written in stone.
the objective of this whole thing is to capture and conquer by any means necessary.
I want to incorporate commanders or a command staff, so that a group effort is made to pick targets and to use resources to accomplish a mission.
-
urge to join quarterly war map scenario rising...
Very cool idea, bit more FSO/event orientated vs Main Arena style would always be welcome by the more "historical" crowd here.
I would participate when/if available. kewl extension of the main arean with a more "serious" feel.
-
that's why we'd run it in Axis vs Allies arena, and we will be using manned guns and radar, things that don't get used in the FSO. this will be about base capture!
-
This could be really cool. I think the map would need to remain open but with everything disabled so operations and missions can be planned or put together while actually sitting in the tower. IE, mission planners can speak on VOX while looking at the map. Side switching would definitely need a down time, as I can imagine the forum would need the ability to allow only Axis, or only Allied members so they can discuss plans and get ready for the upcoming week's operation.
Not sure about timing though, as it seems that by implementation we may be running AH3 right? So about two weeks? :lol
-
yeah but that's ok, we have a AVA arena in AH3 and are ready to use it. actually we have Thursday night tank fights in there. we don't have a lot of maps, but we have a Germany map and that's what I would use for the first run. this would give the AVA terrain team time to build us some more custom/historical terrains. the map would only be up for when we actually have the missions, and probably a few hours before, but you can always load the terrain into an offline arena, and use it for planning/testing and execution.
-
Would it be a squad scored event like FSO or country or individual?
I'm competitive.....like the idea for sure.
-
I like this idea.
I agree with the others on a shorter campaign length being more beneficial. I think 3 months would be best. Also, I would try to incorporate something other than base captures for objectives.
-
it would be a side scored war, the most captures wins. you have to remember, this will cover all aspects of the game.... or most of them. tank fights, dog fights, bombers, tactics, everything. in the AVA we cant do logs so the only choice is all out battle and the conquering side wins. I could give score to each base captured, but the idea behind this is a concerted effort by one SIDE to beat the other side.
we could run it for 3 months and an see if people like it, as an experiment. This would help us iron out
all the bugs and rules and scoring and what not and see how things work.
this about fighting and about combat. you will be limited in planes, bombers artillery. if the enemy hits your base and knows out your vh's and guns, they will be able to capture it. if 2 week later, you decide to take it back. it will count as a capture. at the end of the time. the side with the most captures wins.
if you all are really this interested in this, ill start writing it up for real. ill put it together and we'll all figure out what works.
-
How many lives per frame?
How do you plan to implement Command and Control?
How or who will be developing missions and strategy?
What will be done, if anything, about pilots that go off the reservation, refuse to follow orders or any form of command control?
-
pilots would have 3 fighter lives, 2 bomber lives and unlimited gunner and tanker lives. this will allow for multiple missions. once they reach their aircraft lives limit, it would be by the honor system.
if someone goes off the reservation they would be ejected. if the rules are broken, it could count as a capture against that side. this would affect the outcome of the war if you will.
command and control will be implemented by regional commanders and side commanders. any wrong doing would be filmed, reported and a penalty would be given. I would hope that in the spirit of the game, this shouldn't be a problem.
I would be there, along with other AVA staff to control any incidents up and including ejection, but I don't think that would ever be an issue. we ALL play by the rules!!
-
Sounds like a cool idea. Might get people focused on something long term other than the sortie at the moment.
-
well its about winning war, not just capturing a few bases. the cool thing is that the other side can capture a base back, so you could potentially have some back and forth over 1 base.
-
Is there any incentive to hit strats? Rebuilds or restrictions on ord?
-
command and control will be implemented by regional commanders and side commanders.
How are the regional and side commanders selected?
-
Is there any incentive to hit strats? Rebuilds or restrictions on ord?
they could be hit as a target and scored by down percentage as part of the over all score.
How are the regional and side commanders selected?
they could be volunteers or chosen by a group or elected. no real structured way. The AVA staff would be supreme command, and we could either pick names from volunteers or just let the sides pick their own commanders.
-
....it would be by the honor system.
<sigh>... well you just tanked the whole thing. lol :joystick:
-
<sigh>... well you just tanked the whole thing. lol :joystick:
No, it's still in the design stage.
The AvA staff have terrain and setup options to control this without player enforced rules!

Just the same as a small child will test their environment, so to will the Aces High player, test the limits of the virtual environments. There will be bugs. Sorta the same here, you'll always have that curious player testing the limits of the game (sometimes they find exploits/bugs, sometimes they look the fool trying to cram a jeep inside of a building...)
.. Build it and we will come. :salute

right now, im more concerned about making this go and making it work. people exploiting the setup can be dealt with in different ways.
"the squirrels have camera's"
lets just see if this is workable.

It is workable. Will it be popular?
No matter what you do, someone is going to whine.
-
It is workable. Will it be popular?
well I think it might take some time to catch on, but I think if and when it does, it will be very popular.
also AVA Squad names are independent of MA and FSO squads, therefore you can be part of a squad in the AVA and it wont affect your MA and FSO squads.
I am going to start setting up a write up and setup with planes and rules and command structure.
stay tuned for more, plenty to come!! and it will be epic when the new game is loaded!!
-
ok guys heres a preliminary write up. please feel free to comment constructively. we want to make this work for everyone or a nice compromise
where ever possible.
run time: 4 months every Saturday night 3 nights a month.(or earlier for Europeans?) or sunday?
need feed back on time.
Arena: AH2 AVA until AH3 Kicks in, then AH3 AVA
command staff:
supreme command: AVA Staff
Allied command:
1 supreme commander
3-4 General's--for planning/conferring and sending out orders.
3-4 Lt. Generals, for backups and for conferring.
squad commanders/leaders--disseminate and execute orders.
1-2 air traffic controllers/spotter
Axis Command:
1 supreme commander
3-4 General's--for planning/conferring and sending out orders.
3-4 Lt. Generals, for backups and for conferring.
squad commanders/leaders--disseminate and execute orders.
1-2 air traffic controllers/spotter
Targets: each week, 1 side is to chose one main target and 2 backups.
the other side will defend that target against enemies.
bases may be attacked with Planes, boats, bombers and GVS and may be
captured by any means necessary.
if a base is captures, its dead for 1 week, and then will be put on the recapture list.
this means that if a side lost a base, and its put back on the recapture list, they can
attack or defend their main target, but can also try to recapture a lost base at the same time.
if the lost base is recaptured it counts as a capture. Only 3 bases will be allowed to be captured per frame.
each week a picture of the front lines will be given out for both sides see where they stand.
strats: strat bombing will be encouraged, and will count as points per percentage point.
this will count towards overall score. if a strat base is bombed down to 75%. then the side bombing receives 25% points.
Lives:
each player shall have the following lives:
2 bomber lives
3 fighter lives
unlimited Gv/gunner/manned gun/observer/FI156 lives.
visibility: would love to do 3k enemy 0k enemy, will start with 3k and 3k.
Tanks fights: RADAR icons will be on in AH3 ONLY. You'll understand why when you play AH3
aircraft fighters and bombers, tower only Range only.
this means you can have a Air traffic controllers for both aircraft and gv's
-
sounds interesting
-
I like the idea. I am unable to participate in Saturday stuff because I work. I would love this to have a start time of 8PM EST so I may participate. I would also love for this to be a bit longer, maybe 3 hours instead of 2 if possible. I like the pretext of the AvA and would love to have more in the AvA to make the fun even better.
-
Some thoughts I had on strategic bombing and strats.
I was thinking, let's say were using a city strat for Germany. A cities production is connected to the fighter hangers and the bases that fighters are available(even production rates of fighters?)
Something like
City:
100% - Fighter Hanger Base Rebuilds Full for next frame. 15 Fighter Bases available.
75-100% - 10/15 Fighter Hangers Rebuilt - Loss of 5 Fighter bases available.
50-75% - 6/15 Fighter Hangers Rebuilt. - Loss of 7 Fighter Bases.
25-50% - 4/15 Fighter Hangers Rebuilt - Loss of 9 Fighter bases.
0-25% - 2/15 Fighter Hangers Rebuilt - Loss of 11 Fighter Bases.
Cities will be 100% each frame but each strat will now become very important, as if they aren't protected, your side is going to lose advantages.
Maybe the part of losing full fighters at bases is too extreme, maybe losing specific fighters at certain bases or something along those lines.
Also, something like:
Cities = Fighters
AA = Bombers
Radar = Vehicles
Fuel = Fuel? Troops?
-
well...... certain planes will be at certain bases. lose the base, lose the plane. their IS incentive to keep your bases. there Will be planes at certain Vbases so even those we be an important base to lose.
this will be an all out brawl, but it think we can make it work, and make it fun.
I think when we get this ironed out, we'll have a combination of FSO, scenario and a long term war rolled up into one neat little package!
-
Cities will be 100% each frame but each strat will now become very important, as if they aren't protected, your side is going to lose advantages.
Now ask your self the question, do you wish to fly around protecting your city seeing no one, on the chance some one might come?
HiTech
-
Now ask your self the question, do you wish to fly around protecting your city seeing no one, on the chance some one might come?
HiTech
That's why you have to have shared objectives that stipulate what each side must defend and attack. The fundamental part of a multiplayer event is to ensure everyone sees some action.
All special events work on that premise.
-
Now ask your self the question, do you wish to fly around protecting your city seeing no one, on the chance some one might come?
HiTech
Like Nef said, make it a secondary objective throughout the frame. Now how that fits in the bigger picture of the main objectives like Jaeger said would be tougher as it pulls from the premise a little bit.
-
you also have to remember, air traffic control will be active. so if someone is heading for the strats, it will show on radar. this is not going to be hey guys where the other guys are, you're gonna know. targets will be chosen ahead of time, with 2 secondary targets. only 3 targets per night, and im betting 1 will be enough. there will only be a certain number of lives. so there are going to be many controlling factors.
the way im planning this setup, NO ONE will have a problem finding a fight, be it, air, land or sea!!
the other thought that hit me, was what if squads or groups(walk ons) were actually based at a certain base. if it happened to get attacked and they lost it, they would get reassigned to a different base?
-
pilots will have to register with air traffic control and announce when they take off, this will allow ATC to record and control lives and keep things in order.
I'm going to start setting up a terrain and get this show started. im thinking Battle of Britain for the first part. again this setup will be about base capture.
-
The concept has great potential.
Yep! +1
-
one of the time suggestions was Saturday night at midnight EST, I thought maybe 11pm EST. are there any other time suggestions?
-
alrighty then, lets do this. keep your eyes out for the announcement!!
-
:x :salute Sounds interesting thus far!
-
Now ask your self the question, do you wish to fly around protecting your city seeing no one, on the chance some one might come?
HiTech
Well, the glaringly obvious answer is... if you make the Strat "that" important, they will come. Chesty McThumper will not find this kind of thing at all entertaining.... it's obviously TEAM oriented.
-
strats will be target, but they will be the target at that time. so will cities. targets must be declared in order to attack them!
-
would a start time of 9pm EST on a saturday night be ok with everyone?

Solid time. :aok

Perfect.

I certainly would be interested in this type of setup! It would be difficult to pick a side though, as I like some allied setups, and I like some axis setups, specifically the Luftwaffe.
-
if anyone is interested in helping out and would like to get on the development team for input to this endeavor, please contact me and I will add you to our AVA Development forum.
This AVA war needs some hashing out and I need some help and some input please.
-
question: how would you want to start this thing. we have 2 concepts we'd like input on.
1. go right into a fight with the enemy(opposing players)
2. roll a couple of bases unopposed, to establish the frontline and then get into a battle with the enemy. Territories(bases) captured count towards goal.
object for number #2 is to give the squaddies time to organized and to learn what's necessary in the new game and on unfamiliar terrain, how to capture a base.
-
Get right to the fight. Plenty of time to play AH III and learn the lay of the land.
Folks not already playing in there are in for a learning curve.
-
Get right to the fight please, thank you. Speed it up a bit even maybe. 10K airstarts for everyone, every plane. Not a huge air start, just 10K which will help the bombers the most.
-
I like the idea of air starts for quick action. I would request that their be separate air spawns for bombers and fighters. Perhaps some bonus altitude for the bombers so that the fighters would need to decide between engaging fighters or intercepting bombers.
Either way, this is turning into a interesting event. :aok
-
The usual melee setup in the AvA provides immediate action any time you can find someone in the arena and that won't change.
The AvA War is supposed to be different. It's for players looking to immerse themselves in the history and feel of WWII and allows your Generals to have complete control over their sides' actions.
The chaos is controlled with limited lives for air rides and unlimited lives for GVs. This event can't be fun if you kill yourself 3 times in the first ten minutes and are asked to change rides or leave. The trade-off is that so long and you survive and manage to rearm, you stay in the fight in your chosen ride.
May I point out that the only optional delay is in the first frame of the tour and it's design intent is there to provide both immersion and a player controlled mechanism to establish a superior position over his opponent. After that, it depends on your ride and the number of lives the setup is meant to provide. Rides in unlimited lives come with the potential for immediate action. I won't (can anyone ever say that and mean it?) depend on the "honor system" with player enforced rules. If lives are limited, then your distance to action is critical. You won't be waiting around but you won't see the enemy when you launch from the runway either, this isn't intended to be weekly AvA setup.
Some of you have commented that you love AvA terrains. Now come see how we put it all together in AvA War!
-
We love the interest this has generated and some of the comments have sparked intense debate among the staff. I'm a lurker these days rather then actual staff.
question: how would you want to start this thing. we have 2 concepts we'd like input on.
1. go right into a fight with the enemy(opposing players)
In this scenario (1), the battle lines are drawn on the map between the two sides and the players launch from their home bases. The GVs start at the bases nearest that front line drawn on a the map.
question: how would you want to start this thing. we have 2 concepts we'd like input on.
2. roll a couple of bases unopposed, to establish the frontline and then get into a battle with the enemy. Territories(bases) captured count towards goal.
object for number #2 is to give the squaddies time to organized and to learn what's necessary in the new game and on unfamiliar terrain, how to capture a base.
In this scenario (2), the sides have the potential to gain an advantage over their opponent. The home bases for air rides (where you initially launch) are the same! The difference is that there is no line drawn on a map and the GVs start some distance back in "their territory" instead of facing each other.
btw, The AvA staff is looking for janitors (aka staff) interested in helping out with both designs and actual arena management. In addition, there are openings for new terrain builders. If you're interested, the staff will provide training.
-
ok guys, here's a preliminary setup. this is something that we're still working on. when we go live with this it will be Saturday nights at 9pm EST.
flame away and tell me what's wrong with this or how much you like it. I really need opinions, good bad or indifferent. thanks
Please take a look at this write-up and critique it please.
this is what im proposing for Saturday nights once the new game comes up.
AVA Wars Tour 1
Battle for Europe:
Germany and England are duking it out. Germany is sending all its fighters and attack fighters to Britain to bring Churchill and the RAF to its knees. Britain is within 2 months of its air power and resources collapsing under the strain of the German onslaught. england is putting up a fight as best it can with what it has available to it. its a real battle of wits and will. who will come out ahead.
Over all objective: Capture more bases then the other side.
Allied objective: to not only get a foothold in Germany, but to move forward.
Axis objective: to get a foothold in England and annex the country as part of the master plan.
Each side picks 1 target and 2 back up targets in case of capture after 1 hour
This battle starts as an invasion with 2 vehicle spawn points on both sides of the English channel. This battle will be mostly Geared to a ground war, but not completely. one side MUST successfully capture a base to get a foothold.
Vehicle spawn can be supported by aircraft and vehicles.
aircraft must fly from assigned airbases. if you lose the base, it will be out of commission for the rest of the frame. Any Bases captured will be down for the Rest of the Frame.
you will be allowed to RECAPTURE them in the NEXT Frame however.
this means you can let a guy get his supply line going, and then cut it from behind!
Radar will be on with a delay. this means you will be able to see enemy aircraft and where they are spawning from. A Air Traffic Controller(ATC) will be helpful.
Aircraft Lives: after much discussion, we have decided that there will be unlimited lives in this setup. This setup is about base captures not points. Therefore all planes will have unlimited lives, as will all GV's.
anti-aircraft and manned guns: all guns will be man-able. This is an all out war! Anything goes! down time for ack will be extended slightly, but all downtimes will be left as MA standard.
Base Capture: He who captures the most bases wins! this is a 12 week event run in conjunction with the FSO. The AVA cannot run logs so its all about bases. This setup is not designed to be like regular scenarios, its designed for the best side to win! bear that in mind. if Germany beats England, so be it. The more people you recruit to play, the more fun it will be!

*after the first frame, M4's and panzers will be available
Start time: 9pm EST Saturday Nights (Saturday nights where theres a FSO on friday night)
Bombers: Unlimited lives. No formations(this is to try to force group attacks). level bombing or NOE.
Radar: dot dar tower only, range ring active. ATC allowed. 2 minute delay radar minimun altitude 300 feet. darbar radar for NOE missions.
Fighers: unlimited lives, can be used for ground support or anti bomber protection.
Manned Guns: active.
Objects destroyed : stay down for MA standards
GV's unlimited lives. First frame all fast attack vehicles for invasion purposes.
Each side has one base to take and one base to defend. Once a base is captures, secondary target will be active.
Since certain planes come out of certain bases, tactics would behoove you to find out whats coming out of active based and bomb fighter or bombers hangers to stop other side from launching. protect hangers with field guns and stop bombers with fighters.
all bases will have GV's, not all Bases will have planes.

Any plan for side balancing?
-
I'm In for axis of course. Probably every single frame. This is perfect.
-
This start tonight?
-
This start tonight?
No, it's intended for AH3
-
what we would do is require a side CO for each side, to keep things organized. I would open up the AVA axis and AVA allies forums to people to discuss plans. the development forum would be open to Side CO's and their Staff for finalizing rules and setup conditions.
as for side balancing we'd try to keep it as even as possible and allow side switching by request for the next week or between tours.
side switching would need to be request as we would have to remove people from one forum and put them in the other forum.
not tonight shuffler, but soon. although theres nothing really stopping us, other then we don't have any spawn points in the map yet.
-
Now ask your self the question, do you wish to fly around protecting your city seeing no one, on the chance some one might come?
HiTech
Why do we have strat targets at all in the game with that in mind?
-
Why do we have strat targets at all in the game with that in mind?
(That was in response to Hitech's comment about flying around on the off chance that someone might show up to bomb the strat.)
@ Del, That depends on the arena.
Ignoring the MA situation, Strat can impact a frame in special events if used for that purpose instead of simply scoring points. It really depends on context and settings for an event. Sometimes it really is about points!
For either the MA or a special events arena, it becomes an issue with the terrain. Either the terrain allows a country enough warning to defend or it doesn't. The response by the defenders depends on what the builder expects for settings and whether he plans ahead and hopes for a fight. It's a razor thin edge to balance atop and it can be undone in a heartbeat.
More usually however, neither the terrain builder or the event designer takes the terrain into account. Case in point, Fester says he "designs his MA terrains to promote fights."
Another terrain builder did not include any GV spawn points in his terrain. His editor/CO literally threw some into the terrain so it would have a few GV spawns before submitting it. That was years ago so hopefully something has been done to improve the situation on an otherwise nice terrain.
Whether in the MA or in a Special Events Arena, game play can break down if the terrain doesn't encourage a fight. The Strat has a purpose! It's up to the event designer, or the players in the MA to decide how they want to use it!
-
How about the Panzer IVF with the light gun package?
I am not familiar with the Tour of Duty that was considered a while ago, but the concept of upgrading equipment over time is cool.
Will armament or ordinance be restricted?
Base resupply?
Ord, barracks, guns, hangars downtime?
-
some weapons will be limited for playability.
this setup will be a period in time. so the next one may/will have upgraded equipment, and the next one more so. a progressive war if you will.
although this does give me any idea of maybe doing just that half way through in later setups. possibly changing the entire planeset halfway through. I wont be doing that on this first one and I doubt easyscor will be doing that on the second one, but this is a good point and good for consideration.
all things will be normal for the most part. downtime will probably be change for some things. these are discussions that would need to be hashed out with the Side CiC's. again this about base taking so some concessions will probably have to be made.
these setups will not be about writing history but rather letting History write itself.
the planesets will be put in, but the outcome is strictly up to the players.
again still not finalized, we've decided to try allowing a strat run, and if the strat gets knocked down to a certain percentage it would equate to a capture and a allow a airbase to be moved forward a certain distance. airbases will be set, so moving one forward will be an advantage for that side.
-
Strat runs? So this is starting to go the way of the LWA... Be nice to have an arena with fights.
-
it would not dominate this setup. This entire thing is experiment at this point. we're just trying to get people interested and see what people would like to see, see what works and make changes as necessary.
-
we were going to start this in june, but because of the scenario, decided against it. any opinions?
our game plan now is to wait til after the scenario.... unless theres a demand for it sooner?
comments?
-
I believe that is the right thing to do. Brooke has been having to work his tail off just to get positions filled.

Wanted: Anyone with interest in seeing the AvA War evolve into a running event, we invite you to consult in the design of this event. We would like people interested in contributing to the setup of the upcoming tour,to join the AvA Development Forum.
Our priority is acquiring Commanding officers for the Allies and Axis. They may wish to recruit Executive Officers to consult in their areas of expertise, such as Ground Vehicles, Bombers, or Fighters. We have six weeks to prepare and we want this to be an epic event. Please contact me to get access to the AVA development forum.

CAPTAIN, WAKIE WAKIE.
Don't lay there with only one eye open. It's no prudier then Shipper's, and well, get up!
Are we doing this or not? The SEA Seanario is over in two weeks and we need a start date, a final write-up and some kind of organization from those dozen guys that show up for Tank night, and those other guys from Monday Night Madness etc.
Get cracking ya loafer.
avaeto is almost ready for Tuesday night bomber runs on the V2 rockets at Peenemunde or the new railyards at the custom cities along the Ruhr Valley. What have ya been doing?
:bolt:

My eye has been changed for two weeks now!! Shows how much you pay attention to us losers!!!
-
<sigh>... well you just tanked the whole thing. lol :joystick:
:rofl
:aok
-
the whole thing is about ready. write up coming soon. preliminary tests were run, but because of lack of participation, was not able to get a good feel for it.
folks that are really good, might create some issues, but we'll deal with it. the end result for progress will be base capture. that is the end all.
there will be no scoring other then who captures the most bases.
I was wondering if vraciu and tumor would like to volunteer as side commanders or vehicle type commanders, ie gv, bomber, fighter.
let me know.
-

AH3 AVA Wars Tour 1
Battle for Europe:
This setup and battle will encompass all aspects of Aces High!
There are and will be plenty of opportunities to try everything
the game has to offer. We really hope you enjoy it!
Germany and England are duking it out. Germany is sending all its fighters and attack fighters to Brittain to bring Churchill and the RAF to its knees. Britain is within 2 months of its air power and resources collapsing under the strain of the German onslaught. England is putting up a fight as best it can with what it has available to it. This battle is a real battle of wits and will. Who will come out ahead.
Over all objective: Capture more bases then the other side.
Allied objective: To not only get a foothold in Germany, but to move forward.
Axis objective: To get a foothold in England and annex the country as part of the master plan.
This battle starts as an invasion with 2 vehicle spawn points on both sides of the English channel.
This battle will be mostly Geared to a ground war, but not completely.
Vehicle spawn can be supported by aircraft and vehicles. Aircraft must fly from assigned airbases.
Radar will be on with a delay. This means you will be able to see enemy aircraft and where they are spawning from.
An Air Traffic Controller(ATC) will be helpful.
Aircraft Lives: Unlimited lives in this setup. This setup is about base captures not points. Therefore all planes will have unlimited lives, as will all GV's.
Anti-aircraft and Manned guns: all guns will be active. This is an all out war! Anything goes! down time for ack will be extended slightly, but all downtimes will be left as MA standard.
Base Capture: He who captures the most bases wins! this is a 3 week event run in conjunction with the FSO. The AVA cannot run logs so its all about base capture. This setup is not designed to be like regular scenarios, its designed for the best side to win! Bear that in mind. If Germany beats England, so be it. The more people you recruit to play, the more fun it will be!
Times and Dates:
Saturday Night August 6, 2016 9pm EST to 11pm EST.

Start time: 9pm EST Saturday Nights (Saturday nights where theres a FSO on friday night)
Bombers: Unlimited lives. No formations. level bombing or NOE.
Radar: dot dar tower only, range ring active. ATC allowed. 2 minute delay radar minimun altitude 300 feet. darbar radar for NOE missions.
Fighters: unlimited lives.
Manned Guns: active.
Objects destroyed : Most stay down for MA standards. AAA and VH's, Fighter hangers 30 minutes
GV's unlimited lives.
To start each side has one base to take and one base to defend.
Since certain planes come out of certain bases, tactics would behoove you to find out whats coming out of active based and bomb fighter or bombers hangers to stop other side from launching. Protect hangers with field guns and stop bombers with fighters.
All bases will have GV's, but not all bases will have planes.
Radar: 1939 || 039600 | 052800
Icons: 3k Friendly 0k enemy. (our testing shows you will be able to see eneny planes without any issues even with icons off.)
AAA: .25
Weather: variable.
Terrain: AVAETO
For balance: When we introduce the panzers, they will only have HE rounds. After thorough testing we've found that HE works very well against both the M8 and the M4, but you may not necessarily get the instant kill. It may take 2 or 3 or more hits to kill one. This has been done for balance and for spawn camping. Our testing shows, only side shots are kill shots with HE.
Base capture definition: capture a base, change hands. each time that base changes hands, its considered a capture. If a base starts as a bishop base, and is captured, then lost, then captured again, it counts as bishops 1 capture, knights 2 captures. each captures counts as a capture.
All support aircraft will be positioned to be rear of the front lines, in order to prevent close in support by enemy aircraft. flight times will be close to 20 minutes with bases that the aircraft are stationed at, will move with the front line.
-
This will be running under the new game engine whether Beta or AH3.
-
you get to kill things for a reason in this setup! it should be interesting to say the least!!
-
Must be sure to lay in a good supply of Leroux Triple-sec.
-
the war is coming! the enemy is at the gates. Prepare yourself for a fun time! august 6th is coming soon to a calendar near you!
-
If there was an event that truly encompasses what the future versions of Aces High can play like, I think it's this event/idea. Can't wait for August 6th to come around, hopefully we'll get a huge turnout! :x
